Aleya Tarver Horsemanship

My two kids have been taking lessons from Aleya for just over a year. Aleya has catered our lessons to the skill level and speed that we are learning and not by a set timeline. We are able to advance our skills with each lesson, not getting bored, but fine-tuning what we have already learned from previous lessons while incorporating new skills. Our Level packets (literature) which are sent home, outline what we need to know to excel and are perfect for studying/helping with practice in between lessons.Aleya is a life-experienced rider and shares her knowledge, love for her horses, and sense of humor with each lesson. Before each lesson, you will catch, groom, tack the horse and after the lesson, undress the horse. You should allow time before and after your lesson for this. Your first lesson will give you an idea of how much time you need for each lesson.We have come to feel like part of the family when we're here. We take our lessons very seriously (around the horses, it's all business) but have found it's casual enough to ask questions, help out around the barn, and are welcome to participate in get-togethers (BBQs, hikes, camping, etc).

This barn has chickens & sheep roaming freely in and out of the arena during lessons, the trainer smokes and uses foul language during the lessons. The "lessons" were definitely subpar.

Aleya is a horse whisperer! I LOVE horses and used to take lessons but it had been about 7 good years since I had been riding before I found Aleya. I was pretty rusty, and I am relearning the basics, but since riding with Aleya I really feel like I am starting to gain my horsemanship, riding skills, and my confidence back! Aleya is incredibly knowledged and experienced in every facet of riding and horsemanship, but the best thing about her is how she teaches what she knows to her students. She is engaging and explains riding concepts in a way that is easy to understand, especially from the back of a horse. Every time I have a lesson I come away with something new. She has renewed my love for riding again! I love riding with her and would recommend her to anyone of any age, looking to get in the saddle!

Aleya's easy going personality coupled with her love and vast professional riding experience with horses, makes her a top notch instructor. The barn is such an amazing atmosphere and it gives you the total barn experience. She has a horse for every type and level rider....I admire and respect her being such an independent woman by making her passion for horses into her making her making her dreams her reality. Horrible place to board your horse. Nice barn and arena but if you pay to have your horse trained, she will charge you but there will be NO training....if you pay to have your horse fed grain and you find your horse out in the pasture....that horse will never see any grain. She over charges, she is lazy, and she LIES!! Don't ever work for her, she will eventually owe you a lot of money and she will break whatever contract you have with her for her own personal gain.

Aleya Tarver is the most amazing horseback trainer in California. She absolutely understands her students and their needs, she never pushes students too far and always takes their feelings into consideration. She doesn't only teach her students how to "look pretty on a horse", she teaches them proper technique and execution of a skill. Aleya breaks down the most complicated trick into baby steps so that even the most beginner of riders can understand it. Overall, Aleya is the best trainer I've have to pleasure of being trained by.
