"Cool spot in manteca. Tequila bar inside. Great staff. We were seated right away during Friday lunch. The food came out pretty fast and the wait was not long. I got the spicy steak tacos. Meat was tender. And the veggies were sautéed down so it was soft and flavorful. Not too spicy if you eat spicy. 2/5 spice level. Overall really good tacos 5/5. Large amount of rice and beans too. The complementary chips and salsa were good too. Ask for the flour tortilla chips. Those were way better than the corn one."
"I can't believe that I haven't reviewed Agave Azul yet!We love Mexican food. It's one of those cuisines where just about anyone can find something they enjoy. We had heard a lot of wonderful things about Agave Azul from friends and coworkers. What do you do when you hear about a great restaurant? You try it out naturally! The restaurant is located in a strip mall, but don't let that deter you! There is always a friendly host to greet you and take you to your table. When the weather is nice, there is plenty of outdoor seating too. The inside ofThe restaurant is not too big, but there is a nice bar area that is separate from the main dining room. The chips and salsa are so good! You are given not one but 3 salsas to try. There is one that is a little on the spicier side so be careful if you are not a fan of heat. They also have the most amazing Brussels sprouts which are seriously some of the best I've ever had. I love the fajitas and my husband loves the carnitas! Both are fabulous. Agave Azul is one of those restaurants that once you've tried it, you can't believe it took you so long to try it and you don't want to go anywhere else anymore. At least that is how we feel about it. Thankfully it's not that far from home so we can eat some yummy Mexican food whenever we get a craving!"
"8/16/24: two orders chorizo con huevos. Rice, beans, salsa on the table and requested pico de gallo for a mild option. yum"
"We were lucky enough to get a parking space almost in front of the restaurant. We walked in and were greeted immediately by being asked if we wanted to eat in or order to go. When we said eat in, we were given our choice of tables. It looked like most of their tables are high tops and of the two low tops, one was already occupied. We took the other one. The server dropped off menus as well as chips and salsa. He then offered to take our drink orders while we decided what food to order. After he dropped off our drinks, he came back with his ordering tablet. She got a Carne Asada Super Burrito - 4 - Overall, she liked the size, the meat was tender, and that there was avocado. The one downside was she felt the burrito was a bit bland. Chile Verde Plate - 4 - Very good. I'm a freak. I like a little bit more fat on my pork. Loved the beans. Rice was so-so, but like I said, I'm a freak. Prices were reasonable; service was excellent; one of the servers gave us a portion of Flan along with two spoons to take with us and told us that he hoped to see us again soon."
"My #1 restaurant option in Stockton. The first place I recommend to anyone living in Stockton. The food, the prices, the service, it's just like no other. I love the art work around the restaurant, it is rich in Mexican culture and tradition. My favorite is the shrimp fajitas, the tepa specialty, the tacos, the ceviche tostada. My kids love the Baby Burrito, the chicken the rice the beans it's all so delicious. My husbands favorite is the Carne Asada plate. So thankful for this place."
"My brother in law put me on!!! Stopping by every visit now, I love how you can get your own sauce and it felt unlimited haha. Everyone ordered the asada burrito which was a 10/10!!! I ordered the asada tacos tortilla was pretty good. It was pretty packed but we called the order in and it was quick , ordered 8 burritos and 3 tacos with a delicious horchata and it only took 15 minutes! The chips were crispy with the guacamole."
"This place was absolutely delicious- i ordered the caldo de pollo and it was very hearty. It came with huge chunks of vegetable, the meat fell off the bone. But my favorite dish was the garlic butter shrimp with diablo sauce. It was the perfect amount of spice. Service was okay- the server was attentive but a little bit slow to grab our orders. Also the playlist was bumping"
"City of Modesto offers a lot of Mexican food spots. Jalapeños has been one of my favorites when I'm in the area. I try to take a late lunch to avoid the crowds. The ambient is average of most taquerias (self seating, self serve drinks, etc). The food is really good. I had the burrito bowl and it tasted great. The portions are generous and the service was friendly. The appear to have a beer bar which probably opens later for dinner service."
"We were in the private dining room with 48 dinner guests and a speaker with audio visual needs. Food was buffet style and was terrific! Fruit platter desert tray was well received. We had a no host bar. Bartender was working two bars, the one in the front of the house and our bar in the back near our dining room and he did a wonderful job despite having to split his time. Customer service was amazing!"
"Been wanting to stop here, finally had a chance for lunch. When you walk in you order and then take a seat. They give you a number and the food is brought out to you. Soda machine and salsa bar to the far left. Different salsa, avocado one was awesome not spicy at all. I order a Taco Combination Meal, came with 2 tacos (soft or fried) I chose fried. Homemade fried and good crunch and did not split underneath. Came with meat (I ordered carne asada) lettuce, cheese, green salsa (mild) and sour cream. A lot of meat and tasted really good. Also came with Spanish rice and refried beans, both good.I also order a chicken tortilla soup (mainly because I was cold, definitely too much food. The soup was hot and hit the spot. Big chunks of chicken, carrots, potatoes on the side they give you fried tortilla strips, half of an avocado diced, cheese and hotter salsa to add if you wanted. I chose not to add. Still very flavorful. Will definitely be back."
"I placed a phone order. It was ready in 10-15 minutes. I ordered a beef quesadilla lunch. It was about $12-13 which is not bad for a full plate. I enjoyed it. The lady at the register was nice and offered salsa."
"Found this place on Yelp. Saw it has good reviews. Called and ordered ahead. My food was ready at the specified time. Got the birria mulita, chipotle shrimp taco, vampire taco and ceviche crunch. The ceviche had a lot more tomato's and salsa, not much shrimp. The vampire taco is a small bite like a mini tostada. The chipotle taco was good but had way too much sauce. The best thing was the birria mulita which was juicy and flavorful."

"Wow !! First time here & I can't wait to go back. I was just by myself & the owner showed me the lunch buffet & homemade on the spot tacos & enchiladas everything was amazing she even pointed out the " mild dishes " so cool & the Sat & Sundays sound like a blast. I felt like family. Amazing food & great price. Driving from Tracy will be no problem for this delicious food."
"I've come here a couple of times now, and the food did not disappoint. Despite all of the reviews that I've seen complaining about the service. I have been fortunate to have experienced great and prompt service. My favorite tacos so far have been the Tacos Governadores. Their margaritas are strong as well.I'll def be back!"
"Solid Taqueria, Quick Service and Tasty Food :) Son had the 3 Carne Asada Tacos - which he liked . I Loved my Crunchy Carne Asada Taco Plate :)"
"Another first. Came this way just to ck this place out. My buddy Rob and I drove over an hour away to get this. So freaking glad we did. This was off the hook. This place was awesome! We had the special menu Palmita Mulita and DAM! Off the hook. It took a few xtra minutes, but be patient! It's worth the wait. Jesus took great care of us. This is a must place to stop if you're ever near by! I highly recommend this to you."
"Love stopping in for a drink and salsa. I've had the food and it's pretty good too. One bartender is a little light with the alcohol so when we see him I'm not ordering a cocktail I'm getting a michelada with negra modelo. Staff are alright bathrooms clean, tvs to watch the game and it's close by so we like going there."
"Came here before our show at the Gallo. Very friendly service. Fresh made tortillas were delicious! Had something for everyone. We had the chili verde and grilled chicken. Both of them were delicious. They put on the soccer game when we asked. Music was lightly playing in the background and very upbeat but you could still talk. Would easily stop here again!!"
"I'm always happy with the food when I go here. First time trying their birria tacos and definitely wasn't disappointed. The tacos had lots of meat, and 3 tacos was too much for one average person to eat in one sitting. The nachos were good as well, and the chips and salsa. But the birria was the star of the show. Also, I really really enjoyed the watermelon fresca and pineapple fresca. Both were free refills, and I couldn't stop drinking them.Pro tip: If you're eating there, order the small drink. It might be more trips to the drinking fountain, but why pay more for a bigger cup when it's free refills?I was full and already past my calories for the day, but next time, I want to try their desserts."
"Always love coming here! The quesadilla Al pastor is bomb Af. I'd come here million times over for this. Their Al pastor burritos are good as well. The flavoring could be a little salty so you could ask em to bring that down just a little bit. But overall deep flavors and good spices. Quick fast service! You can order online for the truck location!"
"Great food and great Service. Been coming here for over 50 years. My go to spot for 209 Mexican style. Don't be fooled by location. Its a safe area and clean.Highly recommend!!!"
"The menu has changed but the food is still amazing! I love seeing the different soups on the menu, like menudo, pozole, Albondigas, fideo, etc. I also like the new lunch specials which come with beans, rice, fideo soup, and tortillas. Great price for a huge serving! We ordered 3 lunch specials:Costillas - tender pork ribs with so much flavor!Picadillo - saucy ground beef with cubes of potatoesOne crispy taco - made with a homemade tortillaService is always pleasant. Food is always good."

Time to update my review. Last time I was here was over 7 years ago. And I really enjoyed my food. I had my brother pick me up a chicken tortilla soup & a asada sope for dinner. Didn't care for the soup this time at all so I'm glad I ordered a sope. The soup tasted too much like cilantro. The chicken didn't looked cooked all the way & there was fatty pieces. And the avocado didn't taste ripe. The sope was good.

Been here twice in the last month and both times service was great and food was delicious. Ambiance is very laid back. Price was expensive for the area but the amount of food you get as well as quality is well worth the price. Each time I have gone, I got a combo plate and it comes with enough food for three meals. They do not skimp out on the meat. Only disappointment is the first time we went, when they gave us tortillas, half of it was homemade and the other half was store bought. The second time we went it was all store bought. When we asked for homemade they said they ran out which was weird to me because don't they make the tortillas in house? We tried all the different combinations and all of them were tasty. If I am ever in the area, definitely my go to Mexican restaurant!

Saw this place had great reviews and are known for their quesabirria so I ordered it. It had great flavor and was filled with a decent amount of meat. They also give you free chips and salsa which is great! If you like spicy, they will give you a spicier chili oil which has a decent kick. I enjoyed the food. The worker was knowledgeable, friendly and food was made quickly.

Great vegetarian options and always fresh. I got the vegetarian tostada which was about $5 and absolutely massive. The rice was a tiny bit dry or undercooked but it was still so yummy. All I was missing was spicier salsa or hot sauce.

The potato tacos are a near 5 star experience. The salsita is flavorful and the potatoes are nestled in a crunchy taco! They give you 4! My cousin got the super burrito which she said had an up charge from burritos bought at the truck. The restaurant was a little cold inside so that's where they lose a star. Seems like the prices are more expensive than the trucks they have but it's understandable. However... I dislike paying extra but not getting the extras .. like a warm place to sit. Overall, very flavorful and worth every penny for those potato tacos

Tesoro is an upscale Mexican restaurant. The space is nice, furnishings are nice, the strip mall it is in is a bit sketchy and the overall vibe is that they are trying hard. Service is good, and about average for this level of restaurant. Prices are on the high side in relation to the 400+ other Mexican places in this area - BUT - the food is great which brings the value home. We have had several things on the menu, but our go to is the sol y mar. This dish is thin sliced chicken or steak filets (or both) with grilled shrimp, rice, beans, garnish and fresh tortillas. The thing that sets it apart is the sauce. You can choose between a few, but the Jalisco sauce is one of the best sauces of any kind I have had. It makes the flavor of everything pop. The sauce seems to be butter based, perfectly spicy and has a lemon pop to it. Kind of like a spicy Hollandaise sauce. The chicken is tender and spiced perfectly. The beans are standout. The rice is good. The shrimp were well prepared. Salsa is really good. Chips are average. Sol y mar with one meat will set you back $23 - add 5:for both meats - but the chicken is the standout. Try it. One of my favorite dishes anywhere - the Jalisco sauce makes it incredible.

While planning our road trip, I discovered there's some excellent mexican food in central California. We decided to stop by Jalapeno's after a long morning of driving. We ordered at the counter an grabbed a few tacos and quesadillas. Although service was a but lagging, they we doing their best. The food was excellent, and portions were quite generous. There is also a salsa bar where you can grab what you like. The restaurant is spacious with lots of tables for dine in. Highly recommend stopping by!

"This restaurant is located in what looks like an older home. And that might be abuela's because the dishes here are what I imagine she would cook if she was still here. The chips and salsa were really cool and they also brought out a cabbage and jalapeño salsa that was amazing and unique. The bean dip was fire too and got the appetite going.I browsed the menu and seen the Chicken Molé Poblano. I love trying molé and when I seen El Jardin's had won an award I couldnt pass it up. I was here with a large party after a water polo tournament for my son. So service was a bit slow but the server did her best refilling drinks and chips. When the food did come out it was hot and looked delicious. The molé was phenomenal! I can see why it won an award as it was the best molé I've ever had to this point in my young life. This spot is a must try if in the area. All the dishes that came out looked really good. Super authentic place with workers doing a great job at keeping it one of the best in Cali."
"We have been coming here for Years ! My Hunny Loves the Chilie Relleno plate. I Love the Cheese Enchilada plate . But, the past few years I've been LOViNG the Med Bean Burrito w/ Extra Cheese and Onions ( on special for 1.89 on Tues and Thurs ) The Best ! Love their Beans ! Today I stopped by the drive thru . Really great Folks who run it and work there .My Son ordered the Taco Truck Tacos - Steak . So Great !"
"I have eaten in lots of Mexican restaurants. But not many like Las Islitas, which is mainly focused on seafood. Yes! They have very delicious seafood and amicable customer service. The drinks at Las Islitas are excellent, with reasonable prices. Perfect match with the yummy seafood dishes here. The dining room in Las Islitas is vast and suitable for the live band show interaction with the customers. I come to Galt many times, and Las Islitas is one of the restaurants I like the most."
"Best Mexican food in Modesto. And at a great price too! Whenever I'm back in town I make it a priority to go here."
"First time here and we loved it. Food and drinks were delicious. Restaurant was empty so our service was great and food came out fairly fast. I would recommend this place if your looking for authentic Mexican food."
"Looking for amazing Mexican food and a great atmosphere then stop on to LA Morenita. Love their spicy micheladas. My go to is the vegetarian burrito . When me and my coworkers want some tasty lunch and the extra cash we come here. Yes it is more expensive than our favorite taqueria but there's a reason. It's a nice restaurant with nice staff and clean."
"I stopped by Chevron while my car was getting serviced next door and smelled something amazing. I followed my nose to the back and saw someone chowing down on a torta, instantly making me hungry. The staff member who greeted me was super friendly. After some chat, I decided to go for the chili relleno burrito, a dish I'd never tried before. The burrito came out quick, and let me tell you, it was girthy - the size of my forearm and thick thicccc. When I took that first bite, it was heaven. The rice and beans had a nice seasoning and the green chili was tender melted cheese inside. Both their red and green sauces were bomb too. Honestly, it's one of the best burritos I've ever had in the 209. I'd totally recommend trying the supreme chili relleno burrito, and next time, I'm definitely adding Carne Asada to it!!!"
"Fire amazing food and service wonderful flavor Barria soup was great flavor packed and family owned def will be back for more and def recommend"
"Was craving a southside El Grullense burrito but was in Lodi so decided to go here since it's pretty much the same thing. Was pretty bummed that they Messed up on our order as well as our friends order. Forgot to add sour cream and cilantro on all of our burritos. A friend ordered a bean and cheese burrito which the cheese wasn't melted and was just thrown on the beans. It was horrible! The fries for the asada fries needed to be cooked a little longer. But as always the asada was flavorful and the hot sauce was on point. Maybe it was just an off day for the cook. Well definitely be back again tho since it's closer to us"
"4.5 stars!! We came for the Super Burritos because a friend said they were decent. I'm always a little suspicious because it's Morada and I wouldn't actually consider this place a food mecca for obvious reasons. To top it off, Mexican food is also my favorite type of food so I know what good Mexican is supposed to taste like. (Meaning I'm picky)The Super Burritos came with with a mini plastic baggie filled with some chopped carrots, 1 jalapeño, chopped radishes and one lime. I would have preferred at least 4 to 5 limes because I like to squeeze the juices in.If you decide to eat here, there is one bench available where you can sit. It easily seats 6 people at the most (3 on each side). This food truck is located right next to the Chevron gas station if you're looking for a marker. Most people take their orders to go but it was a nice enough day to eat outside in the fresh air. I ordered a Chicken Super Burrito and after one bite, I knew that everything was on point. Tender shredded chicken that was seasoned well with mexican rice, refried beans, cilantro and onion. 1/2 star off-- *only* because I wish they had some salsa fresca in here. Love me some freshly chopped tomatoes but they didn't add them. If you're looking for good Mexican food, don't pass this place up. It's in a great location right off the freeway and next to the Chevron Gas Station."
"I so wanted to think this was the one! The little out of the way Mexican food joint that rocked...nope. It ain't.Spending the day in Medesto, looking to Yelp for some inspiration and a Mr. Taquito appears. Sweet!Service was good, got a order in with out a problem. Wait time was good, nobody else was in there. Drove home in anticipation of a nap inspiring meal. My wife's meal of 3 Shrimp Doradotacos. Nope. Maybe two and a half medium shrimp for all 3 tacos. The word shrimp was capitalized on the menu, so put some in. Sad faces for all! I had The Don wet burrito. Nope. I had to reread the menu description. Not even close of what I was expecting. Sad,sad!Check the pics I posted and then the item description on there menu. They should change one of them. Last word...pass."
"We were in the area late for kids birthday party, by the time we were heading home it was very late and I remembered Maria's is opened! After 10 pm and the place was very busy with a steady stream of folks coming in to order mostly for takeout. Ordered the crispy tacos with ground beef and taquitos again, this time the ground beef had no flavor, and it seemed more like chili meat than regular ground beef. For the taquitos or as they call them rolled tacos. I assume they would be chicken as they were before but instead they were also the same ground beef mixture.Everything was made to order and very fresh, but we were just not thrilled with the ground beef. Ordered another crispy taco with shredded beef and it was so much better.Folks at the counter are friendly and helpful, and even joke with their customers. From the interactions with people coming in, they get a lot of repeat customers."
"I've been to the Chapala in Stockton before, but honestly this Manteca location is a lot better plus way cleaner. They also have an open kitchen so you can see your food being made. It's the usual ordering process where you order then sit down and wait for your food to be given to you. Only downside is you have to pay for chips, but not a huge deal.I personally ordered the Carne Asada Taco & Al Pastor Taco. Each taco is $2.75 which is a solid price. The Al Pastor and Carne Asada were pretty standard. I definitely prefer the Asada more. The meat to tortilla and salsa ratio is perfect too. The tortilla was really soft and doesn't fall apart while eating it.The Carne Asada Quesadilla ($11) blew my mind. That thing is MASSIVE. For $11 too it is a great deal. It was absolutely loaded with Asada and guacamole. It is definitely a sharable item and I couldn't even finish it despite being a total glutton myself. It is great value and I'd recommend it.Once you finish the staff cleans the table and dishes for you. Customer service is pretty friendly overall and the store is basically spotless. This is certainly a great spot for authentic Mexican food."
