Fab!Where can you find a historical mansion with green space in the city?... here!Fantastic venue during covid 2020 for small gathering for continuing training. Wonderful outdoor space, walkable to shops for lunch treats, beautiful decor. Definitely will attend another function here in the future. Do not dismiss even if its located in the city.Off street parking with nearby parking garage

Beautiful historic venue for any company event, wedding, party, etc. It was built in 1901 and is still mostly original.

I was here on Saturday for a wedding and it was alright. This review is ONLY for the mansion itself. It has nothing to do with service and staff. Here's the breakdown for everything:- Decor: Aside from how beautiful this mansion is, it's kinda scary. Given the fact that this place is over 100 years old, it still stands to be beautiful, but creepy. Especially the photos on the walls. I started getting goosebumps with every step that I took and picture that I saw. It would have been nice if they put up some pretty pictures rather than putting those creepy looking children up on the walls.- Staff & Service: The staff were amazing. The food was amazing, but it's not from this Mansion, they were from Jewel Catering.- Parking: Parking was horrible. Granted, there was a parking structure for the guests, the parking attendant disappeared and gave us a piece of paper with a code. We kept walking around the building until someone came out of the garage. Horrible!- Overall : Space is limited and the bride and groom really have to know what they want. Some of the guests were moved to another room for the overflow of guests, meaning they weren't able to see the bride and groom.Advice: There's really no room for dancing, unless you have a wedding with a cap of 50 people. The place is really tiny, so make sure you cap your guests and take care of your seating arrangements.

Loved it!The hubby and I had our west coast reception here. We wanted something historic, which let's face it, is hard to come by in Seattle. Stimson-Green is practically right in the heart of downtown, but where? Never saw it before in my life, but turned off a street and whoop, there it was, as the kids say.Mansion - gorgeous. Paintings - gorgeous. (Someone else mentioned they were creepy, and they should put up some "pretty pictures." Jesus, go to the Hilton. I am pretty sure the paintings are of previous residents, which is not only historically cool, but also really respectful.) Staff - friendly and helpful. Food - sensational. Ambiance - historic and yes, a little creepy, in a totally fun way. Can't speak to parking, as we took a cab, but none of our guests complained - in fact, they all asked when we were going to have our next party there!I take off one star because the sound system is kind of lousy - there are speakers in only one room, and even with the iPod cranked, you could only hear it in just that one room. We did have some dancing, but not as much as if they had a sound system that went through - you guessed it - more than one room. However, everything else was so spectacular and so everything we wanted that we wouldn't hesitate to host another party here. Hooray for the Stimson- Green!

We just had our wedding at the Stimson-Green Mansion and it was the best day ever! Working with the staff over the past year was a pleasure, they were patient and understanding and really knew their stuff. The food was delish and the mansion really comes alive when full of people. They really made planning our wedding easy plus you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting an historic Seattle landmark and that feels good. Also, if you are planning a "green" wedding this is a great place to do so. We are hoping to have a milestone anniversary there in a few years (10 or 20?) but this would also be an amazing place for a truly memorable holiday party, commitment ceremony, birthday bash or company appreciation party. The staff are geniuses of party planning and menu planning. Rave reviews for the SGM and all its staff!UPDATE: We are still recieving complements on our wedding with words like "elegant" and "classy" if our guests only knew that we actually saved a ton of money by using the SG they would be shocked. By using their catering, equipment and using the mansions natural beauty it was such a stress free event, I actually had fun at my own wedding and even got to eat.

Woot! I get to write the first Stimson-Green review! How cool is that?My wife and I had our reception here. A lot of people do. This place was absolutely awesome to deal with, but I recommend that you book way in advance because everyone else knows about this place too! If you want dancing at your wedding, don't have it here. There's really no place to dance, which was fine by us because it would have been really simple to overwhelm the space with sound. The wedding was eight months ago now, and we still get raves for the party we threw at Stimson-Green. But we didn't do any of the work, they did everything. There was one thing they couldn't foresee -- a bat flew into the second floor and got trapped up there -- we took care of because my best friend is a rabies-vaccinated veterinarian. They have an arrangement with a nearby garage, so your guests don't have to try parking on the street. The food was awesome. I've eaten all over this town and the world and have never had finer food anywhere. The service was impeccable. They delivered everything they promised and they promised a lot. Finally, the atmosphere was just right -- especially considering we would be spending our first married night at the Sorrento -- it was natural to go from S-G to that hotel. If anyone you know is throwing any kind of a party there and invites you, make sure you go. Go even if they don't invite you!

If I could give the staff and event planner Erin ten stars I would. I booked the mansion for a gala birthday masquerade party and it was beyond phenomenal! The food was amazing, the décor unbeatable and the service outstanding.

If you're trying to choose a Seattle wedding venue and are looking for something elegant and fairly economical, the Stimson-Green is a wonderful choice. We were married there on 1/1/09 and were beyond thrilled with the experience. Gillian Bauman, the events coordinator, is friendly, tasteful and knowledegable, and has a knack for offering her expertise without trampling on the bride and groom's ideas. A caterer as well as a venue, the Stimson-Green is also a bastion of sanity during the wedding planning process. Couples who prefer not to complicate their budgets with multiple vendors and want to know costs up front should consider this historic property, where they will receive expert guidance and event service (including the bartender) fantastic Northwest food (which the out-of-town guests won't stop talking about - one of our few local guests even said it was the best salmon he'd ever tasted), and all the stressful little trappings (no need to rent tables, chairs, linens, china, flatware, etc.) Also, if you want to do an iTunes wedding, this venue is ideal; the existing sound system plugs right into a laptop and feeds into the library speaker system (we worried about the iTunes decision but it turned out to be brilliant - don't let the dire warnings of the American DJ Association scare you if you'e thinking of doing this!) And if you're planning to get married during the holidays, the Stimson-Green will already be beautifully decorated, leaving little to do but centerpieces (essentially all we brought in were centerpieces, favors, bouquets, the cake, and the liquor). We had about 60 people at our wedding, which was the perfect number for this venue (it can host a larger event, but we chose not to open the downstairs). Our guests flew in from all over the country and from England, and everyone exclaimed over the house and was delighted with our choice - we are getting a flood of e-mails (and even thank you notes), not only from our guests, but from our friends who couldn't make it, who are hearing all the raves from the people who were there! One last note; the review stating that "there's really no place to dance" should be amended. Certainly it's not a giant, gleaming ballroom (it's carpeted), and if you want 100+ guests to dance the night away, then no, the Stimson-Green isn't the best choice, because it's too intimate. There is limited dance space in the library once the tables are set up. But once we got our music going, our guests danced all night, because the size of the party was right; there was even room for an impromptu Conga line at one point. I think that even a wedding of 75 would be able to dance quite happily here. My husband and I had also gone to dance lessons to perfect our first dance, and we were able to pull it off just beautifully in the space, so that's not something you'd have to give up!In any case, if you're thinking of including the Stimson-Green on your short list of venues, do it. We really cannot recommend it highly enough. It is absolutely worth exploring; and if you ultimately decide to get married here, then congratulations on a fine choice!

Our first experience at the Stimson-Green Mansion was a wedding and reception being held there. The building is lovely, and this particular event was catered by Kaspar's, who clearly have a lot of experience here. It was a very nice combination. Our biggest uncertainty beforehand was how much, if any, parking was available. It turns out that they have access to a garage behind the mansion, and there was a person welcoming us at the entry to the garage, giving us instructions on getting to the pedestrian entrance and a sheet of paper with the code for the lock. The exit door could have been better labelled, but that was the only glitch. The venue itself is lovely, looking very much like I imagine it did when it was built in the early 20th century. The caterers were amazingly efficient, both in serving drinks and hot appetizers on the veranda, and in reconfiguring the main room from the ceremony to a sit-down dinner while drinks were being served. This was a great location, enhanced by caterers who clearly knew what they were doing.
