It took us forever to order from here and once we finally did we were so sad we didn't try it earlier! We ordered the pad see ewe, Panang curry, lard nar, and the somtum (papaya) salad. Everything blended together suuuuper well and was absolutely delicious. This will be our go to Thai spot moving forward.

Good Northern Thai/Laotian has been hard for me to find in Chicago and this is the first place to come close to being what I'm looking for. This is going to be my go-to for when I need to be hit over the head with herbs and spices. The Northern sausage tastes like inhaling a pack of galangal straight from the herb section of the supermarket, and is respectably spicy, too. If your tongue is somehow still bored, you can take a big bite out of the sticks of straight ginger they give you to go along with it.For the main course I got the ap pla, something I actually have not had before, but sounded like the perfect entree. First of all, anything steamed in a banana leaf is an automatic yes, because it holds all the flavors in perfectly. But also, it's fish and eggplant and lime leaf and spices, many of my favorite things. It's maybe not as explosively flavorful as similar dishes (either Laotian mok pa or Cambodian amok trey), but it had a nice mellow savory profile and was a nice foil to the kick of the sausage.

3.5 stars is what I would give in totality. I ordered take out and thought the overall experience was okay. Everything was packaged nicely, and I had no issues with my order. I had asked for coconut milk with my Thai iced green tea but was told they did not have coconut milk... which obviously they do from the varying coconut curries, soups, and sticky rice but so be it. The primary purpose of choosing this spot was for the Khao Soi. I have been obsessed since a friend recommended it to me, and always seem to seek it out. It was exactly what I was looking for and has satiated my craving until next time! They used an egg noodle instead of the more ramen type noodle that I'm used to, and it was more soup based than curry. I haven't had the same type of Khao Soi twice, even when in Thailand. All the different types make it even more interesting to order and try! So a 4/5 for the broth and noodles! I also ordered the sausage, and a pork bun. Both just okay and not really noteworthy.

I ordered delivery from this place and have to say it was solid. The pad see ew was a little bit wetter and the noodles were just more slippery than I'm used to, but overall the taste was good. I really did enjoy the Gang Hung Lay which if you didn't know, is a specialty dish specifically from Northern Thailand. In fact, this place has quite a decent amount of Northern Thai dishes to chose from so I believe the owners are originally from there. Definitely go with those options if you come here!
