Absolutely fantastic. We came here with a big group and they treated us like a wedding party with superior service, terrific drinks and cool event space. But what really shines is the food. The spicy shrimp was addictive. Get it. The bread was melt in your mouth. Enjoy that too. Then we need to talk about the steak. I mean it is called Steak 48 for a reason. They cook it at 2500 degrees and then serve it on a plate heated to 500 degrees. So my first cut on it looked a little underdone but the plate kept it hot to perfection. And it was just so tender and so flavorful. Normally I want a sauce but I didn't need anything with it. Each bite was velvety smooth. One of my favorite steaks in recent memory. Dessert was good too -- a caramel cake but I was so full from the food and drink! A terrific Chicago steak place. Highly recommend!

It's been awhile since I gave an updated review. Just went here yesterday for my anniversary and it was amazing! Food was delicious, our waitress. Allie was wonderful. She went above and beyond wishing us a happy anniversary every chance she got.The drinks were fabulous as well!My husband and I each ordered a drink. I got a sangria (sooo good) and he got an old fashioned that he said was really good.We started with the crispy shrimp. Omg these were amazing! We each ordered a ribeye medium. It came out perfect! We also got mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts which were very good. For dessert we had the warm vanilla cake. Delectable! Thank you steak 48 for continuing to have amazing food!

Had a fantastic dinner here while visiting Chicago. Great location. Plenty of shops, bars, and other places within walking distance. Came in for dinner with my friends. Inside is a little dim but stylish. Spacing is a bit tight. Food was delicious! The crispy shrimp deviled eggs and pork belly are great appetizers. I got the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. Tender and juicy inside, a nice sear on the outside. Can't go wrong with the au gratin potatoes. Cocktails were delicious too. We racked up that bill lol but it was worth it.Service was amazing. Friendly and helpful staff. Reservations definitely recommended but were easy to make on their website. There's street parking or garages within a block or two.

So I have reservations and I didn't get there until 17 minutes after they close. Which I kept calling and 15 minutes was the grace period. But I was two minutes late. I do understand that once a restaurant closes, They are not obligated to open the doors for you, which is understandable and I did apologize multiple times that I was running late. The young lady was able to have her manager open the doors for us and we were able to sit down which I was very grateful because it was my boyfriend's birthday. We ordered steak 22oz, asparagus fries, loaded baked potato, calamari and the mac & cheese. They do give you bread when you sit. So the calamari was very good. It comes with shrimp as well some kind of sauces. I can't remember the name of the sauce, but it was really good. It was a white sauce. Order asparagus fries my bf said they were really good and flavorful. Our main entrée we decided to split everything because it was big portions. Ordered the 22 ounce was not good. They split it in half for us and half that I got was very fatty and chewy. It was no meat on it. I had a tough time chewing it because it was a fatty meat and for the price I feel like it could've been better. I do work in an upscale restaurant as a chef so I do know a good piece of steak and I know a bad piece of steak and the steak that I received was a bad piece of steak. The mac & cheese was really good settled because when they brought it out, it was very soup. The baked potato was really good, but the bacon that they put inside of it was very hard. They brought out a desert. I believe the guy said it was a butter bread cake whatever it was, it was sour and ice cream it's OK because it was free at the end of the day. The next day they called me to ask me my experience which I really love because most places they don't call you back at a restaurant to ask you if you enjoyed. I wasn't going to them the truth because I wasn't looking for a refund. I just wanted my boyfriend to have a good dinner. I told him the next day I did have terrible stomach pains from the food that I ate to where I couldn't eat anything besides Tums , Pepto-Bismol and water. The manager was very helpful. He was able to send over a gift card so whenever I'm at steak 48 again I can be able to use it. I love how they handled the situation like I said most restaurants they do not call you the next day to ask if you enjoyed the food or how was your service so that part I give it a 10 out of 10

Don't think I've ever been to a finer restaurant. Services impeccable!! Ambience terrific! Food superb! The corn crème brûlée was one of the best things I've eaten as an add-on side. Steak was done to perfection for each person. Crispy shrimp deviled eggs also my favorite Desserts were excellent. Very expensive but worth a special treat.

Overall we had a lovely meal for a night of celebration. The highlights:- loved the ambiance, the seating was comfortable and the mood lighting was spot on- our server was very friendly- my husband loved his steak, mashed potatoes, and corn crème brûlée combo. He could not have been happier with his mains and sides. - they had a great music selection, atypical for your stereotypical steakhouse music lineup and so very enjoyable- excellent waitstaff, the guy who kept us hydrated with water was probably the nicest person we met the entire night. Super lovely guy. - the Mac and cheese was gooey and decadent- the ultimate vanilla butter cake tasted of a really good sugar cookie- everyone, even those not waiting on us were pleasant and engaging. We enjoyed everyone's sunny dispositionsThe misses:- we did ask for suggestions as it was our first time, and I did notice that every one of our server's suggestions for meals, apps, etc were the most expensive things on the menu which makes me feel like she is just being told to upsell and perhaps doesn't actually recommend the items she said- the Caesar salad was light on dressing (this coming from my husband who usually complains about the opposite) and our warm croutons were not at all warm- my 12oz steak, unlike that of my hubby, was overcooked. I asked for medium rare and I got medium in the center, and a good chunk of it was medium well to well, completely gray. The sear on it was so hard it tasted burnt. I ate about four bites. I did mention this to them but nothing was done. - the crab meat on the Mac and cheese had a piece of shell in one piece of meat, and the other had the "bone" still in it. This is a big faux pas for some.-the timing was long. We were there for about three hours, and there was a long wait between courses not just from the kitchen but for the server-- there were many times we were looking for her to order the next course. I appreciated we did not feel rushed but it seems like we did a lot of waiting.Overall 4/5 stars mostly due to the steak for me. It is a steakhouse after all, and I hate burnt meat. Would certainly return again for the hubby though and give them another shot.

Such a sexy restaurant and one of the better steakhouses in chicago. I finally got to try this place and loved my experience. It was popping on a Tuesday evening, and we started with some champagne at the bar while waiting for our table. At the table we had some tartare, a salad, and fresh bread to start. This was all delicious. We also got a bottle of cayman vineyards Cabernet with our meal, which went so smoothly with the steak.I got the 45 day dry aged bone in rib-eye, and it was so tender and delicious! The sides we got were also rich and filling and went nicely with the steaks- the chef's potatoes and asparagus fries. Everything was amazing!

Absolutely GREAT experience! We were captivated the entire time, from the moment we got walked in to the moment we left. We were celebrating a birthday and they made the celebration amazing! Our server Walker was the best and catered to our every need! His service was fantastic and Walker was truly a delight. Walker added all the extra touches, provided wonderful recommendations to curate a perfect meal, just top tier service. Loved the appetizers, chicken fried lobster was delicious; the aged bone eye rib eye was perfection along with the potatoes and creamed spinach. Vanilla cake was perfect way to cap off the meal. The staff even called the next day to see how our experience was. Walker and the entire experience was wonderful!
