Stake Chophouse & Bar

Last September I spent a weekend at Hotel Del Coronado with my in-laws & had a nice dinner at Steak Chophouse & Bar. It was walking distance from our hotel. My sister-in-law booked a resy for 8 at 7:00pm.My husband & I started our little walk around 6:30pm and arrived at the restaurant at 6:43pm. We checked in and the hostess stated our table will be ready shortly. There was a group at a table that was taking their time to pay for their bill lol (3 hours). At 7:12pm we still weren't seated and the guests were still there. So my sister-in-law asked if we can at least have a drink while we wait. We each ordered a cocktail while we waited & around 7:30pm we were finally seated. Due to our 30 minute wait we were offered complimentary bubblyOur server was Adam very detailed oriented with quite the knowledge on steaks and knives to choose from. He was attentive and was able to answer all of our questions. One of us preferred well done and he was able to recommend a steak well (8oz Wagyu Rib Cap). No complaints on service. We were well taken care of despite the table delay. What we ordered: Alaskan King Crab Cake,West Coast Oysters,Rockefeller Wood Fried Oysters, Heirloom Tomato Carpaccio, Gratin Potatoes, mixed mushrooms, duchesse potatoes, Brussels Sprouts, Sautéed Spinach, 7 layer chocolate cake, Bread PuddingSteaks: 8oz American Wagyu Rib Cap, 14oz Tasmania NY, 14oz NY Strip, 8oz Wagyu eye of RibeyeDefinitely recommend this restaurant as a nice family dinner or even a date night.

This was a fun and fancy place with service to match.They have high end cuts of beef here, they have fancy knives to choose from which I so loved having that option. Love the selection from around the globe, they weren't that sharp.The servers were attentive and on the ball. Nothing negative could be said of this place. The steaks were incredible as well as the sides and to end a perfect meal they had basque cheesecake. For sure will return when I can get a reservation.

The 'Stake Experience' tasting menu, crafted by the gifted Chef Matt Sramek and Chef de cuisine Matt Martinez, was nothing short of a masterpiece. Each course was a revelation, harmoniously paired with Nathan Black's impeccable wine selections!The attentiveness and expertise of the staff elevated the evening beyond just a meal--it was a celebration of flavors and finesse. The steak was a showstopper, cooked to perfection, and each dish, from the seafood starter to the decadent dessert, was a tribute to culinary excellence.Stake's commitment to customer service shone brightly when they offered a complimentary black car service for a safe journey home. Had an awesome happy hour experience here at Stake Chophouse. My group of 4 arrived at 5'ish and the bar was full inside so we were sat outside, which was much preferred. Fresh air, great view and excellent service. The drinks were so good and the food was AMAZING! I didn't get a picture of a couple things, but OMG the Stake Fries are a must. Definitely a place to stop by and have a couple drinks and a small bite or more if you'd like and than wander around the area.

We are locals and have been here multiple times for happy hour and just for normal dinner. If you're willing to spend money... this is the place for you. Mark has been our server multiple times during happy hour and crushes every time. Thanks man!

Wow, what an incredible meal. I had the duck and it was truly memorable. I preferred my friend's cocktail to my own, but I tried their steak and it was the best I have ever had.

If you're looking to splurge on a fancy place, this is a good choice. We came here for Sunday happy hour and while what we paid for happy hour prices was probably more than I would have paid for dinner elsewhere, we have to keep in mind this is a steak house in Coronado with a rooftop patio and view.We ordered various small plate items from the Happy Hour menu and I do have to say the mussels were simply to die for! The garlic wine sauce it came with was so good that I simply drank the sauce when I ran out of bread to soak it up. I would come back just for those mussels and would probably order 4 orders of it next time. The waygu skewers and ahi sliders were good but not extraordinarily so. I think my least favorite was the oysters ($3/oyster during HH) which I found to be kind of small (I've had $1 happy hour oysters elsewhere that were way larger than these). The server was attentive and friendly. She checked in on us often so I have no complaints about the service.

This place is my favorite steakhouse in the world, and I tell you, I have been to A LOT of steakhouses. The service was incredible. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff. We started with the Brooklyn bacon steak and it was amazing. Fatty and crispy and perfectly seasoned. I got the rib eye cap which was divine. GF got the bone in ribeye. Both cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. The potatoes were wonderful, we almost ordered a second tray. If you're near Coronado in San Diego, don't pass on Stake.

Went for my daughter's 16th birthday and had an amazing time. Waiter Matt was awesome made it very special. We did the Stake experience which I will admit is pricey but worth every dollar. Not only was the food tremendous but we couldn't finish.Chef Mathew came out several times to check on us and make sure the food was perfect. Probably the best eating experience I've had.
