When J. R. R. Tolkien wrote "If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." I'm thinking he was referencing what Sportsman's Club's Sunday dinner does for the soul...you gotta go.

Here is another bar to hit up on Western Avenue. It's close to a few other favorites. Sportsman's Club is a neighborhood place with kind of a sports theme. For sure it's different than a typical sports bar. This isn't quite a dive bar because the drinks aren't that cheap and are too good, but you can find plenty of hip vibes. As far as the sports theme, it's not like a sports bar. It has a few TVs, so you can watch a game. The decor is pretty old school, with lots of taxidermy. About the only bad thing to say about it. The chandeliers are made of antlers, and there's a few dead deer heads on the walls. Good choice among cheap and more expensive. Lots of people prefer beer it seems. It's about $10 for a cocktail. There's no food but you can bring some or have it delivered from one of the nearby places. Classic old hipsterness. It's kind of dated for sure, especially with the taxidermy and the dead stuff. The bar is nice but will get complaints from PETA and whoever.

Hands down the best cocktail bar in the city. Perfectly crafted, simple and done well! Nothing fancy about this local bar and that's what makes it perfect. During the summer on Sunday their patio is a home to pop up restaurants within the city. Pets are welcome outside which is a bonus!

Inside was very cute. Moscow mule was good but the pina daiquiri was not my favorite. Not crowded on Tuesday night so east to sit down and grab a table.

I love visiting a good neighborhood sport in a neighborhood that's very far (approximately 700 miles) from my own. Sportsman's Club just emanates great vibes and if you're not careful you may end up staying much longer than you planned. Not that this is a problem by any means, I'm just warning you. The energy here will make you want to post up and stay a while. Which we did. Basically until closing (we did come around 12:15 so it wasn't actually that long of a time). Came here as a party of three looking for a nightcap. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect given that I'm not a local -- would this be a cocktail bar or just a fun hang? As someone who's very into mixology, I would say this is more of a fun hang with decent drinks. The vibe is chill and unpretentious with patrons who seem chill and unpretentious and bartenders. We first snagged a booth but decided that bar seats would be more fun (I like befriending bartenders). We weren't going crazy on drinks, but we still got a nice sampling of the menu. I tried the bar's namesake cocktail, which is similar to a Boulevardier. An excellent drink at the end of the night, rich, boozy and bitter. My sister got a cider that she really liked and my friend got the Mezcal Jammer, which I did not try but her review was positive. Our bartender was very charming and he did a great job at trying to convince us to stay and order more but it was the start of long weekend filled with lots of alcohol so we declined. But if I find myself back in Chicago and back in the Ukrainian Village, I will absolutely be stopping by the try their amaro blend, which features something like seven different amaros and sounds dangerous but heavenly.

Super chill spot with a bad @$$ outdoor beer garden with a fire place. Also, who doesn't like a bar that allows the Tamale guy to comes through selling a nice late nite snack!?

This is my favorite bar ever. They have reasonably priced cocktails that are the best cocktails I've ever had. The ingredients are high quality and they takes the craftsmanship very seriously. The vibe is chill and cool, and the wait staff are friendly. It's fun to go on a Friday night when the Tamale Guy makes a regular appearance.

Nice socially distant dining/drinking. I went with a few friends to their Oktoberfest event with Funkenhausen and we very impressed. Their Oktoberfest beer was super good and the food for the event was incredible!I was also very happy to see their COVID precautions, including wiping tables down between parties, leaving room between tables, and no lines for ordering food. Will definitely return.

Is it a dive? Is it a snazzy cocktail bar? It's all of the above. I fell in love with this place after one visit. Part neighborhood watering hole, part hip cocktail bar. It casual enough for a weeknight drink with a friend but sexy enough to bring a date. Reminds me a lot of Queen Mary on Division and the original Mothers Ruin in NYC. Didn't get a chance to venture out there but looks like a great backyard patio

The best bar in Ukrainian Village! Amazing outdoor space, fun DJ at night, and amazing bourbon drinks at a reasonable price. The bartenders are friendly and yes, the Tamale man even comes by late night!
