Who would've known spicy house had a location here. Located in the plaza with Best Buy, Petco, and Staples, parking is abundant. The inside a quite small, only a couple of tables. However, the food cooked here is amazing. This is my family's favorite Chinese spot outside of Convoy.Ordered the spicy pig intestine dish (sautéed with veggies). It's hard to find this Chinese dish so when I found the place, I was in love. Also had the cold spicy chicken and cucumber dish (notice the name of the restaurant, it's all really spicy). You can always ask the chef to make your dishes mild if you don't want to feel the burn. Our last dish was sautéed eggplant, which essentially melted in my mouth.Their lunch specials are also a great price. A great place to come if you want to try some Chinese dishes outside of the regular orange chicken, broccoli beef, etc.

Always go to this place because my friend said it was the best chinese food that replicates his hometown favorites. Truly authentic and delicious. We got the Scrambled Egg with Tomato, Ma Po Tofu, Cold Chicken with Green Chili Sauce Special, Shredded Pork with Szechwan Sauce, Mongolian Beef with Onions and Hot Pepper, and Chungking Style Rice Noodle with Special Sauce. All worth the try, it was so comforting to pair with rice and share with family. One warning for those with less tolerance and preference for spicy is that Ma Po Tofu is spicy and leaves the spice numbness in your mouth. My only criticism is as much as I love the tomato egg dish, they always give more tomatoes than scrambled egg pieces but still delicious.

Paid by card. The sign reads, "China Fun", so I was a little confused when I got there. I went in on a Saturday afternoon around 1:00 PM and half the tables were full. I ordered to go since someone in my party fell asleep. I ordered the fish and corn and chicken chow mein. I didn't have any issues ordering. The person in my party woke up and I asked to change the to go order for dining in. The cashier/ server/ possible owner tried to charge me extra, based on the $36 I paid for the fish and corn (almost all corn and barely any fish) and chicken chow mein, for dining in. (Even though I already tipped on the to go order). We sat down and ate, but didn't pay additional since I argued I already tipped and I thought it was ridiculous to pay extra for sitting down, and got the worst service ever. We asked for hot water and they said they didn't have any. Are you serious?! Someone in my party asked how they make their tea without hot water. Then they gave us hot water. It was very hard to get anything else from them. The food was mediocre but I can't believe the fish and corn dish barely had any fish in it. I pretty much paid $15 for a container of corn.I do not recommend this place and won't go back. Terrible service and the food was overpriced for what it was.

Sadly food is overpriced for what you get. I haven't been to this spot in years and was disappointed with my experience tonight. Did a call in order and came to pick up my order and it was wrong. Also was quoted 15 minutes and took a little over 30. Egg fried rice is the same price as fried with protein such as chicken, beef, pork ($11.99) which is unusual to see. Would not recommend, lacks flavor.

This place is definitely very different than China Fun, which was actually a decent place. Spicy House was closed down at one point by the County for vermin infestation and had the following issues in 2022 (look it up, it's all public information):Common Violation Types9 Vermin | 8 Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean | 8 Floors, Walls, and Ceilings | 6 Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use | 5 Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use | 5 Food Contact Surfaces | 4 Holding Temperatures | 4 Food Separated and Protected | 4 Premises, Vermin-proofing, Personal/Cleaning Items | 3 Warewashing Facilities MaintainedThe fact that their ownership and management can let it get this bad means they don't deserve my business. Stay away unless you want to be ill!

I've been dining at the Spicy House off Convoy for 10 years. It's some of the best Szechuan food I've found in San Diego and was my comfort food for the first few years after moving here. I was thrilled after moving to north county to find this Spicy House location!! I go to the pet store all the time and never noticed because the sign says China Fun - don't be fooled. It's Spicy House and the food is excellent, fresh, and served hot as it always has been. I recognized the server from the Convoy location and knew I was in the right place. The menu has something for everyone - great options. Some of my favorite sides: green beans - they knock your socks off. I never thought I'd say that about green beans but it's true- just order them. The Szechuan eggplant is also one of my favorites. The eggplant is cooked well and spicy. The mixed vegetables with wood ear mushrooms are also delicious if you are planning to order mainly Szechuan style dishes with spice to them as the light mild sauce is a reprieve from the dishes with lots of peppers and heat. This visit we enjoyed more Americanized dishes vs Szechuan style dishes per the guests we were dining with. Even so, the walnut shrimp is some of the best you'll ever have. Dan Dan noodles are delicious, but not something I'd insist on having again. The frog was great!! By far the best Chinese food in the RB/Poway/RPQ area. The one bummer is this location does not have a beer/wine/liquor license- I enjoyed having a beer with my food at the Convoy location. Hope they can get one here.Come try spicy house - you will be glad you did.

Ordered General Tso's chicken from doordash and the quality is so bad. It's not tasty and almost feels like it was reheated after storing in a freezer for a week. How can you charge 18$ for this crap.

Went here to eat with some friends of mine after a car meet and I was blown away not just from the food but the service, it was like eating at a close friends house, the server did more then take care of us she made sure we got what we need and checking up on us at the right times. There was about 12 of us at two different tables and she alone took care of all of us! All I can say about the food is WOW!! The flavors the portions and the pace of how we all got our for was just amazing! I was really surprised on how fast both tables got their food. The fried pork rib fingers and chilis amazing, wontons in chili sauce to die for! I would recommend this place over and over again!!

We consistently get mapo tofu from this location. It is incredibly spicy, as a warning, but it has such a good underlying flavor. During the pandemic we would get three to four orders of it and just live off the mapo tofu for a week or so. I also really like their tomato egg soup, if someone needs a recommendation for something not incredibly spicy (yet delicious).Edit: how in the world could I forget their Szechuan eggplant, it's superb

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the quality of the food and the authenticity of the flavors. I have to admit I never leave reviews and am typically a harsh critic/foodie when it comes to Asian foods because I grew up on the best Chinese and other foods in the Bay Area, along with traveling globally for work. I felt I had to review because Spicy House deserves 5 stars, compared to the 3 total stars they have now just doesn't do this place justice. It's nice to have some good Chinese food further north and in San Diego. After being in San Diego for 15 years, San Diego is also not well known for good Chinese food, and I still have to get my Cantonese food fix when I go back to the Bay Area, but Spicy House is worth the visit. Many Szechuan places tend to use a lot of MSG, which usually gives me a headache, but I didn't get that here. I would definitely come back and recommend it if you're looking for authentic flavors, good spice and decent portion sizes. Prices are probably in line with the crazy inflation we're experiencing, but definitely enough for leftovers. Thank you Spicy House for a yummy Mother's Day!
