Dude, this place is pure gold. My girlfriend and I stumbled in here yesterday after shopping at H-Mart and it blew both of our minds. We both enjoy spicy food so we ordered the spicy cold noodles as an appetizer and the spicy beef + tofu entree and split both. I didn't realize I had never actually had good Chinese food before until I took the first bite - everything was perfectly balanced and delicious. Perfect amount of spice, aromatic and savory, light but filling... I could go on a rant about how good it is but just trust me on this one if you like real genuine cooking. They also have a non-spicy menu if heat isn't your thing. The staff was friendly and prompt but the restaurant was basically empty except for us - the food is so amazing I'm posting this review in hopes more people will try it. Please do the town a favor and bump this up on your list of places to try because I will be genuinely depressed if they don't stay open for business for a long time!

Spicy Spirit is located in a shopping complex next to an Hmart. Sat at the bar which I do not recommend as the stools are the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in. Started off with pork soup dumplings which were frozen store purchased. I watched the cook go into the cooler to grab some and place them in the steamer. Then ordered the sautéed beef tripe and hot and spicy beef slices with tofu. Both were very good but did not have enough spice for me. I was told next visit ask for extra spice. I will admit if something is advertised as spicy it should be then. The staff was very friendly and surprised by what I ordered. My visit was on a Wednesday and not many people were dining I will come back to give it another try in the future.

I came here to try out their Peking duck with some of my girlfriends since it was not common to have this dish in other Chinese restaurants. The Peking duck that we had this time was not what we expected. It was dry, small size and very pricy. However, we liked their eggplant a lot. I had come to this place to try out other Chinese dishes before. The dishes were pretty authentic. If you are looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant, this might be a good one to try it out.

Wow, this has to be one of the best authentic spicy Chinese food I've ever had. I usually don't tolerate spicy well, this place however can make dishes that ranges from none to a lot. They're accommodating. Service is excellent. Lots of things to choose from on the menu, and the menu have pictures in case youre confused! We tried the fried spicy fish, eggplant with millenial egg, the traditional ma po tofu, and snow pea leaves with garlic (not on the menu but most places have it if you ask). Our fish dish came out super salty, it's kinda like a salt and pepper kinda turn out, so we asked if it could be redone and the owner took care of it for us at no additional cost. Large tables available for large parties otherwise most seatings are for 4~6, booths available.

Nice welcome. Answered questions and came back with answers that were unknown. Very pleasant staff. Food was great. Seating was comfortable. Temperature and cleanliness was good. Relaxing ambiance. Bar looks like it would be fun for drinks. Simple decor not busy. Open kitchen. Quick service. Hot food.

We usually stay away from any Chinese restaurants on Lunar New Year due to the long wait time. We went around 2PM, and the restaurant was pretty empty. As we walked inside, there was a lady in front. We're not sure if she was a hostess since there was no greeting even when we're staring at her. We ordered:Pork belly noodle - there were some dry pieces but tasty and spicy.XLB - must ask for sauce if you want the soy and vinegar. There was nothing special about it. Black pepper beef - it was on the pricey end for just pepper beef. Spicy and delicious. Mapo tofu - very spicy and savory sauce. Normally, I don't eat rice, but after eating this, you'll want to have more rice. They do charge for rice and in a small bowl. As expected, most of the dishes were spicy. Do not expect customer service here. We needed water badly. They have a bunch of workers just standing around.

I had high expectations for Spice Spirit Chinese Cuisine and Bar. Maybe too high.Upon arrival, the hostess was all business, but she offered no "hello" or smile. Fortunately, the server was different and he was much friendlier and offered fast service. The Shanghai Steam Buns (XLB / Xiao Long Bao) was just ok. The wraps were too thick and the broth was bland. The Orange Chicken was about the same. The chicken was chewy and a bit dry. The sauce was way too sweet. The Soy Sauce Pork Fried Rice was alright. However, it had shards, instead of cubes, of pork. Maybe my pork fried rice experience is limited, but this seemed unusual to me. There was only a hint of soy sauce, even though it was right in the title.Speaking of which, most tables had soy sauce bottles available, but I had to place a request for some. No chopsticks were ever provided, though all other Customers had theirs.SSCC and B was ok, but with so many other Asian options, I doubt I'll be running back.

Love this spot! Came here once after seeing the Yelp reviews and was intrigued by the "numbing" spice. I have never heard of sichuan pepper before or the style of Chinese it entails but: WOW, so much flavor. I cannot exactly describe the flavor of the oils and seasonings used here; it's just that unique. I can say however that it's not the typical spicy people think of, and that because of the numbing zesty tones it's definitely something you can eat without needing to chug water. You can also order something without spice if you're worried! Including traditional Chinese dishes such as stir fry rice, dumplings, etc. The staff is attentive, and the food comes out pretty quickly! The prices aren't bad for the portion you get. Inside the place is huge, way bigger and pretty upscale looking compared to the outside of the building. In summary my boyfriend and I love coming here and now do so about once a week. Our favorite dishes are the "ma po tofu" it's the one main thing to get for the spicy tingly, the "twice cooked pork" which is delicious pork belly but no numbing flavor, and any of the dumplings are delicious. Overall we highly recommend!! We're hoping to eventually plan ahead by ordering the duck (you have to order the day before for that one) and update the review on that. You must try this place!!

Had beef lo mein, grilled cauliflowers w pork, and orange chicken. Orange chicken was overcooked, was fried to the point where certain parts were hard enough to chip a tooth. Flavor was ok. Beef lo mein was just ok. Grilled cauliflower had not been steamed long enough and was still raw. Overall too greasy and not cooked properly.

If you are craving spicy, this place is where you want to be! There are also tons of options for non spicy options! Don't be overwhelmed with the menu when you sit down. There are tons of dishes that you can choose from. I would recommend picking some spicy and some nice spicy to try them out. My favorite was the Green Pepper and Eggplants with Century Egg and the Dan Dan Noodles! The eggplant was perfectly made with the century egg and with rice it's a spoonful of flavor. The Dan Dan noodles had the perfect texture in the noodles. It wasn't really spicy so request for it to be spicer if you want a good kick. Hot and Crispy Chicken Bite was delicious!! It's so good that even though the spice was strong I kept picking at it. Definitely must get if you like spicy! Sadly was a little disappointed with the small steamed buns. The meat taste great, but it was lacking the soup. Service was amazing! Friendly staff! We are excited to go back to try other options!
