Southern Steak & Oyster

My layover in Nashville International Airport was quite long so I looked for a good place to sit and enjoy some good food. Found Southern Steak & Oyster in Terminal D. Service was prompt and courageous. Ordered the Nashville hot chicken salad with dressing the side. It was exactly what I was craving. Enough greens and yummy, crispy, spicy chicken strips. Very satisfying.Restaurant was clean and spacious. Liked the casual atmosphere.

I wasn't expecting much in food or service since this is an airport terminal restaurant but it is a nicer one compared to others. But I got off the plane, I heard live music from the restaurant across, saw the windows at this restaurant & decided to settle at the southern. Got a glass of chard & spicy chicken salad! No joke, one of the best salads I've had & hands down the best meal I've had at a restaurant. The server Michael was attentive and genuine. Honestly best experience at an airport restaurant. Will come back if im ever in BNA.

Great food for an airport! We sat at the bar, had great service and the food did not take long. I started with an Old Fashioned, when they have Sazerac Rye you know it's going to be good. I got the Southern Burger with a fried egg! It was soooo good, cooked to perfection and the Bacon was perfect!!! Added the fries and they were very good. Located in D Terminal (Southwest gates)

They need to rename this to Southern BBQ Shrimp and Hot Chicken! I didn't get steak or oysters, but had the most delicious BBQ shrimp outside of New Orleans. The shrimp were peeled (tail on) so thanks for that. I didn't want to have buttery spicy fingers at an airport. And the sauce was so F'ing good. I could have licked the plate clean.I also ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Salad (I was expensing it). It had 3 big tenders that had a nice spice. The other fixins included celery, carrot ribbons, blue cheese, and diced dill pickles which is a first for me on a salad, and definitely not the last. I couldn't finish everything after I had the shrimp, but it was a good size salad for an airport.Service at the bar was excellent too. It wasn't overly busy and the bartended kept checking on me, refilling my beverages, and chatting a bit. The seating area was super open so you didn't feel like you were crammed into a tight space.If I flew through Nashville again, I'd definitely stop here (near the end of the D terminal) and get some more of that BBQ Shrimp! It may be the best thing I've ever eaten in an airport. I'd have to think about it though!

Before our next flight, we had a couple of hours to spare and were in need of a quick meal. After exploring the dining options near our gate, we settled on Southern Steak & Oyster due to their seafood selection. Southern Steak & Oyster offers plenty of seating, including a bar, but we chose a table. Service was fast and friendly as we informed our server in advance about our flight time. Despite having less than an hour, our server assured us it wouldn't be an issue.We shared the fish tacos and the new south caesar with added shrimp, both of which arrived quickly. The fish tacos were delicious, filled with the catch of the day, salsa fresca, slaw, and avocado crema. The caesar salad, with romaine, ham, parmesan, herbed goat cheese, croutons, buttermilk caesar, and blackstrap molasses. We added shrimp for an additional charge. As a fan of caesar salads, I really enjoyed theirs especially the buttermilk caesar dressing.Our server brought the check well within the time we had provided!

Solid spot to grab a bite before a flight! My husband and I had a rather unfortunate flight delay pop up just as we were arriving to the airport, so we decided to sit down and enjoy a meal to kill some time. Southern Steak & Oyster is located within the D Gates, and has a super cool gallery wall with several historic Nashville photos. The bar looked like a nice place to park it for a while, although we decided to grab a booth this time around.We selected a couple of apps to start, and my husband particularly enjoyed the Barbecue Shrimp. It was served with a few pieces of crusty bread and a rich, brothy sauce. We also ordered the Brussels Sprouts, which were perfectly crispy and topped with a fun, spicy mayo sauce.For entrees, I went with the Smoked Gouda Burger. It was cooked to my liking, but nothing special flavor-wise. My husband enjoyed his Smokehouse Burger, and we shared a side of Sweet Potato fries which tasted good but could have been a bit crispier. I did ask for an extra side of ranch to dip, and am pleased to note that their ranch was quite tasty. The service was great throughout our meal, solidifying that we'd consider Southern Steak & Oyster the next time we're looking for a sit-down spot to eat in BNA!

Service was great and quick , but food was okay. I should have followed the crowd and gone with the busier restaurant across the way. I got the hot Nashville chicken salad which was comprised of delicious and fresh ingredients but the chicken was dry like jerky.

Great service comfortable booth for when you have a long layover. Highly recommend the chicken fried chicken!

Got caught in a 4 hour flight delay due to tornado in the area. Decided to eat here at the airport. Typical open seating area. Server was a nice guy; responsive to our needs; was professional, friendly, and did a good job. His attitude was the best part of this meal. He deserved a 5, but the meal dramatically drug that score into the depths of a 2.I ordered the Gumbo, which had unappetizing odor and a distinctly uanappealing appearance best described as "brown goop." Had the appropriate spice level. The Okra was so tough and improperly cooked that I couldn't cut it with a knife.I also had 3 small fish tacos. Flavor was okay and the Pico de Gallo (chopped tomatoes/onions/cilantro) was fresh and tasty. The avocado crema lacked avocado and was piped across the pico de gallo so that it looked liked fresh green poop. My wife's Hamburger was charcoal grilled and tastefully seasoned with properly and nicely layered lettuce, tomato, pickles and cheese.My son's Beef Brisket was large, moist, had decent seasoning, and was served with mashed potatoes and collard greens. It was tender and easy to cut. The potatoes had good flavor and texture. The colloard greens were properly prepared and had good flavor also.Overall, 2 of our 3 meals were tasty and pleasant. My meal left much to be desired. Even if I get stuck in the Nashville airport again, I will be eating at one of their other restaurants.

I fly through Nashville frequently and this place is consistently great. Great New Orleans shrimp. Great brisket. Great old fashioned drinks
