1. Andrew is the MAN. We love him. He is very attentive, fast, and funny. All ya could ask for. 2. The caesar salad fries were good but tasted nothing like a caesar salad. It tasted like a Taco Bell potato taco. 3. We probably won't eat here again but it's the best place to drink and play games. CAVEAT BEING if they brought back the chicken sandwich. 4. The vibe is spectacular especially a little later in the night. When the brew bus tourists are there it's too rowdy for my liking, but it's the best once it mellows out later on. :) 10/10 would recommend... or I guess 5/5.

Southern Grist Brewing in East Nashville is a gem tucked just off Ellington Parkway on Douglas Avenue. If East Nashville isn't your thing, you can find their other location in The Nations. Southern Grist is your quintessential "small batch" brewery that offers up an ever-evolving lineup of beers, which is fantastic if you love variety. While they don't have a flagship brew, they do maintain a few staples that are consistently on tap. Just be prepared that your favorite brew might be a seasonal, here today and gone tomorrow *sad face*The brewery's kitchen, now rebranded as By Lauter, is another highlight. Though I haven't explored the full menu, the burger is easily one of my favorites in the city! Grab a crisp beer and pair it with this burger - you won't be disappointed!Parking can be a tad tricky at times. They have limited spots on the side and a lot behind the building, but during peak times you may have to find a spot in a nearby neighborhood. The space itself is cozy but accommodating. With a dining room area, a square bar with stools, and scattered tables, there's plenty of seating. Plus, there are two outdoor spaces that blend seamlessly with the indoor area, making for a pleasant atmosphere year-round.Service is always solid, the food is delicious, and the beer is always interesting and well-crafted. Southern Grist has definitely earned its spot as one of our favorite spots in East Nashville!

SGB is well on its way to becoming my favorite spot in East Nashville to grab a brew. I love everything from the modern vibes to the taplist ... not to mention the delicious and innovative menu at Lauter.I recently visited Southern Grist with a group of friends on a Tuesday night, and I appreciate that there was a wide variety of brews available, with something for everyone to enjoy. I'm in my "Sour Era," and Southern Grist has quite a few fun ones on tap right now. My favorite is the 'Mosa, which is not too sour, but still packs a bunch of citrusy flavor. If you're unsure whether you want to commit to a full pint of something, I love that SGB offers 5 oz. taster pours for $3-4. I tried both the Passion Fruit Guava Hill and the Perpetual Composition, both of which were tasty and very fruit forward, but strong if you're not typically a sour person. My husband ordered the Masa Crisp, which may be our new favorite lager. It's light and sippable, while still full of a corn-like flavor. We also ordered a taster of the White Chocolate Pistachio Stacks on Stacks, which was a fun dark beer to end the evening on.Although the patio can get busy on weekends, SGB is the perfect spot for locals to stop during the week for a few brews and a tasty bite. I have no doubt that we'll be back again soon!

My sister recommended this brewery whilst I was in Nashville. Wide selection of beers on tap and to go. Food was pretty good as well, I missed brunch that day but I've heard good things so I'll definitely be back to try brunch. The staff was fun & friendly which made for an overall good experience!

Perfect spot for a Friday night happy hour. Brought my dog and sat on the very spacious patio. As this was my first time here, the cashier helped answering my questions on which beer to choose from. She knew all the "beer terminology" and her advise helped me pick a lager I really enjoyed!

Okay, so I last reviewed Southern Grist in 2017. And I'm sure I went a few more times after that since I didn't leave Nashville until 2021. But a few weekends ago, I wanted to grab a few beers with some family after a wedding. We said, "Let's go to Southern Grist; it's nearby!" And it's a good thing that I left Nashville so long ago that I forgot how to get there and had to put into Google Maps, because THEY MOVED! It's larger and cooler and they have great food now. So - yes - they still have great beers, including the ones I referred to as "BOMB sours" in 2017. But now they have the same great beers but are ever better. That's all. Just had to update my review to say that.

Nice spot. The one brewery I chose over all others in Nashville area. They had off street parking which was nice. The have a section that has food, what I saw people getting looked good. I however went for the beer. I ordered two hazy IPA's and was pleased. Then I saw the BA stout and loved it. I would highly recommend this place.

Holy crap. I want to eat this burger every day for the rest of my life. Discovering Lauter inside Southern Grist Brewing in East Nashville was like stumbling upon a hidden culinary gem right in my own backyard. The welcoming vibe at Southern Grist provided the perfect ambiance for an unforgettable dining and beer tasting experience.Let's dive into the details of what made the meal so special. The burger from Lauter was an exquisite creation featuring a dry-aged patty, melted Monterey Jack cheese, tangy half & half pickles, a rich burger sauce, crisp onion, and a hint of smoked Worcestershire. This combination of flavors and textures made each bite memorable, setting a new standard for what I consider to be an exceptional burger. But the culinary delights didn't stop there. The roasted sweet potatoes topped with sweet curry sauce, mimolette cheese, pickled golden raisins, and candied pecans were a revelation. Each element added a layer of complexity and flavor that was simply amazing. It was a side dish that could easily stand as a highlight on its own.Pairing this meal with the variety of beers from Southern Grist was the icing on the cake. Each beer I sampled was a showcase of craftsmanship, making it clear why Southern Grist is celebrated for their brews. Their beers are some of the best I've ever had, with each sip confirming my appreciation for their quality. The staff's friendliness and expertise across both Lauter and Southern Grist added to the experience, making me feel right at home with their recommendations and knowledge. In summary, my visit to Lauter at Southern Grist Brewing was a remarkable journey through culinary excellence paired with unmatched craft beer. For locals and visitors alike, this is a must-visit spot in East Nashville. The exceptional burger and side dishes, combined with top-notch beers, have made me a fan for life. I'm already planning my next visit.

While it does seem normal at many of the Nashville breweries, I appreciate the taster (5oz) glasses. It let me try all the variety of drinks.I tried six different beers, and variety of styles and all good. Typically I just go for hoppy and dark, but since I was trying variety I did try some of the different sours. The Perpetual composition and Chcolate covered chery melted sno-cone were both delicious and probably my favorite while I was here. IPAs were solid, stouts slightly better and really enjoyable. The food, the wings there were 3. Quite large, seasoned and fried it has good flavor. I'm not sure I like the 3 piece wing though. Kale salad, a nice dressing flavor but I think I need the kale chopped just a bit more. And lastly, the sweet and salty snack mix is plentiful and enjoyable.

Great brewery. If you enjoy craft beer, then this is a must stop place in Nashville. Lots of interesting selections, especially if you're into off-the-beaten-path stuff, but a wide range of offerings that is sure to suit everyone. The bartender was very attentive and helpful. Pricing was excellent as well. Highly recommend this place!
