South of Nick's Del Mar

For context, we had come here prior and had a very bizarre experience with service. Shoutout to Oliver who replied promptly and gave us the opportunity to give this place another shot. So with some new hair extensions and a long work week done, we made reservations for Friday. It seemed like we picked the perfect night because our waitress, Adrianna was destined to help us tonight. She was friendly and fun to talk to about the different tequilas. Food was amazing, service was incredible, we felt like we really got the South of Nick's experience.

Came in alone for a drink and ended up trying some yummy tacos! Courtney made me an awesome margarita! They have fortaleza so I had a sipper. Very enjoyable and Courtney made it awesome!

We both had the Tiki Twist non alcoholic drink and it was fantastic!!Plus we tried the Pollo Poblano and it was excellent! See my pics

Updating review after visiting South of Nick's again. The mini taco platter was adorable and the chicken was my favorite. My husband ordered the El Jefe burrito where the outside is actually a quesadilla. He will have leftovers for 2 days! Our server, Joe, was amazing. He gave us recommendations and took extra precautions to double check with the kitchen about my food allergies. For a Friday night it was a full restaurant with an upbeat vibe. We could see the football game from the bar tv which was nice bonus! The prices are definitely still on the high end for Mexican food but the quality, atmosphere, and location are on point.

Service .. 5 stars all the way tonight.. he was amazing! Vibrant, super professional, friendly and knew the menu inside and out! The Vaquero was Devine at 5 stars all the way. Music inside on point. Great vibe going on tonight. The ceviche I could have done without. I prefer a more traditional ceviche with spice and no sweetness. The seafood enchiladas cheese was melted to perfection and was top quality.. these enchiladas were also on the sweet side, which for me I prefer more spice and less sweetness. I'll let you be the judge! This was our second time here and we plan on coming here again! Enjoy:)

Great place! Great service, great drinks great food. Our party ordered two different types of enchiladas which tasted great! A really big burrito and the filet mignon fajitas... the meat was so tender and the flavor was outstanding! If I'm ever in town again, I will definitely be back to try their other offerings. How about opening a location in the Austin area? You just can't find very many good Mexican food places here..

Great meal at One Paseo. Accidentally went to sister restaurant Nicks before realizing it was wrong place. Luckily only around the corner. Was seated immediately and brought chips, salsa and bean dip. I got the frozen coconut cocktail which was fabulous!!! A bit messy though since it high about rim of glass and melts. But delicious especially on a hot summer evening. For dinner I had the blackened shrimp salad. Shrimp were large and nicely seasoned. Service was great as well as ambience. Will be back for sure.

Great atmosphere. Definitely try their cocktails. Like most upscale Mexican restaurants, the food is somewhat overpriced, but that's probably because you can get really amazing Mexican food for much less money. I had the birria tacos, and the birria was quite dry, which was disappointing.

Food - it was good flavour when if finally came. I got the taco Salas and it was good portion. Chicken has good flavors. I also liked my jalapeño margaritas Service- horrible. Took an hr to get food. No one hardly came by. Ambiance - it was okay..the wait was not worth it.

My friend couldn't make it to my birthday outing, so she treated me to dinner here! They are located at One Paseo and the sister restaurant of Nick's, which can be confusing. She actually booked the wrong place at first haha.Complimentary chips and salsa was brought out once we were seated. The salsas were all great! I just got a ceviche and she opted for some enchiladas. I enjoyed my appetizer! For dessert, they brought out a churro ice cream, which was the highlight of my dinner! They also gave me a birthday card, which was signed by the staff! It was a very thoughtful gesture and I enjoyed my time here!
