South Beach Bar & Grille

Our hotel recommended South Beach, so off we went for Wednesday night dinner. Our waiter was pleasant ... and young! Are we are a group of 60+ women so he humored us lol. It's right on the beach with an upstairs patio so you could watch the surfers and/or the sunset. We stayed downstairs (no elevator). No the view we wanted but quieter since everyone else was up! Wednesday night specials included tacos and $7 wine. No photos for this place, my bad, but the Mahi tacos were "best ever" coconut shrimp delicious, wedge salad was huge! A great place. Highly recommend!

Pro Tip: it's open seating, so head directly upstairs and grab a spot on the outdoor patio for full oceans views and an awesome breeze.My go to here at the battered pollock fish tacos and/or the ceviche. On this visit I ordered the fish tacos. These are huge, lightly beer battered and topped with fresh veggies like cabbage tomatoes, and pico. My last trip here we also sampled the coconut shrimp. They had great flavor, but too much batter for me. My Mai Tai was very good, but a little heavy on the pineapple juice. Let's be real, more rum than juice is always the way to go. They do have a full bar here and they now offer what I can only call a tequila tower? A 3-ft tower with multiple mini-bottles of tequila on it and accompanied by a huge beer.This place offers tons of nostalgia for me. I lived in San Diego for about 14-years, 4 of those were in Ocean Beach and this was my taco Tuesday spot for many, many Tuesdays. Happy to say, not much has changed and what has changed, was for the better!

Love Love this place! Food and drinks with ocean views! They are too busy though! Not enough servers or bartenders for the amount of customers ...they try!

I've been here quite a few times for drinks and views which are both great. This time, though, I came for lunch with family and our food was pretty bad. The tacos were okay, the flour tortillas were atleast good, but I highly recommend not ordering the mussels or clams. Those were terrible. My partner and I shared them and both felt that way. Texture was a bit chewy, the broth was so bad-- it had such a strange flavor. Bread was decent but we didn't even want to dip it in that broth.The chips and guacamole were also a huge let down, not even sure they added any salt or lime at all to that guac. Salsa was also bland. Service was okay, just needed to flag down the waiter a few times because it took awhile. Overall a bit disappointed with our visit but giving three stars due to drinks being good & past visits being better.

Was in San Diego and wanted to dine at someplace with ocean views. There was a surf competition so parking was limited at the lot adjacent to restaurant. We went in at around 3:30 so it was open seating. The have seating upstairs and downstairs. Upstairs has bar seating outdoor so you can view the ocean. Indoor seating gives you a pretty good view as well. The service was mid and I was distracted by the spilled food that looked like throw up on the floor at another open table. We order French fries as an appetizer and fish and chips as entree. Good thing we ordered the French fries as appetizers because the French fries with the entree was sparse.

Don't understand why or how this place has such crummy reviews; but this is definitely one of my favorite spots now! Unbelievable views from the outdoor seating - PERFECT sunsets Food is yummy!!! Good portions, very reasonably priced, service is friendly and in general just has really chill vibes Wanna go back for taco Tuesdays!

A cute little restaurant within walking distance from the beach. Parking was pretty difficult to find as we came on the day that they have the farmer's market. Our server was very friendly and talkative, all the workers were very nice. We came here on a Wednesday, it was not very busy at all, and the food came out very quickly. I got the ceviche and some oysters. The oysters were super fresh and delicious, however they were pretty tiny. The ceviche was pretty good as well, my mom ordered some shrimp tacos which I had a bite of and they were also pretty tasty.

Really cute location! There's great seating options outdoors over the beach - though it gets (understandably) really crowded around sunset time so it'll be difficult to get a good seat. We came during their taco Tuesday special - the margarita was delicious and the tacos were an excellent deal. They were extremely large tacos: two are definitely enough for a meal and 3 will have you extremely full. For $4 and extremely large, the tacos were great: a decent amount of meat though I thought the white sauce was a bit overwhelming and was slightly too much. I far preferred the corn tortilla (which you can order upon request) - I found the sauce/toppings a better fit with the flavor/texture of the corn tortilla. Giving this 4 stars because the service was extremely slow: a lot of the tables were not cleaned off (and in a crowded restaurant meant we had to wait a bit to get a table) and it took an extremely long time for our order to be taken. I think it was the crowds on a taco Tuesday special that caused the slow times - hopefully it isn't slow on other days.

Meandering around OB, we stopped at South Beach Bar and Grille to rehydrate.We opted to sit at the bar as the outdoor patio was rather full and there was plenty of room at the bar. They offered a nice selection of beer on tap. They had hard seltzers from Kona Brewing which Becky had never had and she was quite pleased with the flavors. Service was prompt and friendly form our bartender (I did not catch her name).The men's bathroom upstairs is awkward. It has the old school urinals that are imbedded in the wall and go all the way to the floor. Very close to each other and no partition between them. When the door is opened, there you are! The urinals are in plain view from the bar area when the door is opened. Stick to the private, one at a time all gender bathroom downstairs.

Food was great. I got Birria sliders which were great. Service was good. No complaints. Atmosphere was good. There were good views of the beach. Inside is pretty dark.Amazing food for value. Especially if you go for happy hour.
