RUN to try this food! I was on vacation in Chicago but my brother lives here and has visited once before. He had me hooked with authentic soul food that has vegetarian/vegan options. I started with the Soul Roll, which is basically all of the best Thanksgiving side put together like an egg role (yams, Mac and cheese, greens)--that alone I would come back in town to eat again! So decadent and delish. I ordered the vegan fried chicken with the corn break and Mac & cheese sides. The fake chicken was so well seasoned I had to ask that it was the vegan one. The Mac & cheese was out of this world delicious and the corn bread was the most moist I'd ever had. There is a separate vegan menu with a whole bunch more options, and if I lived closer I would be here regularly. Now, it is a small restaurants with limited seating indoors so I would advise getting there right at 1pm when they open. Or, be okay with sitting at the bar or outside. We sat at the bar and still enjoyed ourselves! Staff was friendly despite being slammed with orders. I did think drinks took a long time to get to us, but we weren't in a rush. All in all, fantastic experience and love that it's Black-owned!

This was my first time trying soul food in Chicago and although it won't be the best soul food I've had it was still amazing. It was my first time trying collard greens and omg it was so flavorful, juicy, and salty. The garlic mash was creamy, smooth, and garlicky. The Mac and cheese was a very good basic Mac and cheese and the chicken wings were perfectly breaded and seasoned. I loved the thin batter on the wings however I do wish they were bigger and juicier. The catfish poboy was so tender and flaky. It was my first time trying catfish and I loved it! I wish I actually ordered more of that instead. The food came out freshly made and piping hot. I definitely wish I was able to grab a drink because they all looked so good! The service was a 10/10. It seems like this place just opened since the owner was there to teach the staff. All the servers were super attentive and kind. For soul food, it is a bit pricy however the ambiance and vibes are immaculate and it's definitely a more upscale soul food places and it's also in one of the most expensive areas in Chicago so I'm not surprised.

Highly recommend this spot! The food was amazing and vibes were everything!! As a visitor from Cali, I'm definitely coming back. Shout out to Raven! She was welcoming from the start! Loved her vibe! The owner even came around and checked to ensure we were satisfied. Absolutely!! In the conversation with Raven we mentioned traveling to celebrate birthdays, and before leaving we were acknowledged. Genuinely great customer service! Don't leave without having a Lavender Lemon Drop!

Came to Chicago for a visit from LA and had Soul Vibez as a must try restaurant. It did not dissolve. The food and staff were so good. The owner greeted us and checked if we were ok. The highlight was our bartender and waitress Raven, who was nothing short of amazing. She was everything. The music was on point and they sang happy birthday to me . Thank you Soul Vibez.

Let me say, the food was good. No complaints. The service was not good at all. Our server was rude and attempted to use methods of intimidation to get us to leave faster. My friend arrived before we did not know there was a 90 minute seating time. This is not an issue. The issue is that once the server told us we had 30 minutes to leave, she basically began to lecture us about being on time. She was seemingly defensive though she had no reason to be. Very weird person. She honestly ruined my experience and she shouldn't be working as a server if she gives lectures to patrons. I won't be going back or recommending. I never got her name as she didn't introduce herself nor did she wear a name tag. Also I was with a party of 3 and my food came out about 30 minutes before theirs did? Not an enjoyable dining experience.

I just had my first experience at this restaurant, which was quite memorable. This place has vegan options. I decided to try the stuffed salmon with mac and cheese and collard greens. If you prefer quieter settings, you might want to skip this place, as it can get lively. The restaurant is cozy, and the staff is super friendly. The stuffed salmon was delightful, although I wasn't a fan of the sides. The mac and cheese was a bit dry and could have used more cheese, while the collard greens were decent, albeit a bit peppery. To wash it all down, I tried the fantastic strawberry vibez drink, which didn't have a strong liquor taste. I'd return, but I'd opt for different sides next time.

I have had four experiences with the restaurant at this location and after the last one and the way it was handled, I would rather spend my money with a black owned business that treats their customers better. My first experience was a delivery order that went very well. The second was the same. The third experience was an eat-in experience that wasn't bad, but their service needs an upgrade. Drinks brought out at different times (there were three of us), forgetting about drinks and sides, just not professional. But the food was amazing so I decided i would still order through delivery. My mistake was being considerate of their ask to order delivery directly from their website rather than through one of the apps. I caution everyone against doing that at any restaurant because when they completely mess up your order like Soul Vibez did mine, they will ignore you. I ordered fried catfish, a couple of sides, 2 of their ridiculously expensive lemonades, and their cookies. When the order arrived, no lemonade ($10 each), no cookies ($5-ish?), and the catfish was blackened not fried. I tried calling 4 times but got no answer so i sent messages through their contact was form which went ignored. So i called back and finally got someone who knew exactly what i was missing from my order (imagine that!) and offered to send a gift card in the entire amount of the order to me before rushing me off the phone. Assuming that would be sent to either my cell phone, email, or credited in my online account with them, after waiting five days , nothing. So I disputed $30 of the charges with my bank to cover the missing items and taxes. IF I ever order again, which is doubtful, i will do it through one of the apps where you can immediately obtain a resolution. Shame on you Soul Vibez.

Ordered takeout for a catfish meal with Macaroni and Cornbread for the sides. Absolutely delicious, and I killed it so fast I didn't even get a picture. Would come back just for the cornbread itself!

I recently visited soul vibez after hearing really good reviews about the food, but unfortunately, my experience did not meet those expectations. Upon arrival, I discovered they do not accept reservations, resulting in a wait time of approximately 1.5 hours. While this was inconvenient, we chose to place a to-go order given the positive reputation for food quality. We ordered a catfish dinner with mac and cheese and yams, as well as a wing dinner with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Regrettably, the meal was disappointing. The macaroni and cheese was not made with love, it felt like they only used velveeta, the yams were not cooked thoroughly, and the catfish lacked the quality one would anticipate from a soul food spot. The only notable aspect of the meal was the lemonade, which was not bad.Overall, I found the experience to be underwhelming, and I do not foresee myself returning. At a price point of $76 for two meals and two lemonades, I expected a higher standard of food. Perhaps this was an off day for the kitchen, but based on this visit, I cannot recommend the restaurant as a destination for soul food.
