A generous three... Fried chicken had no seasoning. Caesar salad had a tangy dressing. Small amount of mac and cheese for $11.99. Greens were just ok. Hush puppies and fried fish were the best. The red beans are rice were ok. The wait was pretty long but there might be only one worker... what really topped it for me was our "caramel cake" being a Costco poppy seed muffin with some caramel and whipped cream on top. You can see the muffin liner print. Considering all this, and parking, wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

My father raised me on southern food and was an excellent cook. This place really brought me back to her cooking which I still can't replicate. Really great southern food that comes home when you're not missing it. I have ordered from this place a few times now and they are always consistent. From gumbo to catfish, to collard greens and fried chicken, it's fantastic. Very simple but culturally, good ingredients don't need much spice. This is truly a great place for down home southern cuisine.

The food is SO GOOD. I think the parking is obnoxious, and finding the place (inside another) is confusing. I think the only suggestion I'd have is for the packaging of the food. The mac/yams are too wet for boxes. I think containers would be better for sides. But the food. It's definitely soul food. The fried food is crispy, the Mac and cheese and the candied yams and the plantain all pass the test. If you're craving soul food, get some of this.

Phenomenal! Delicious! I love ordering from here. Expect the food to take a while, but it comes FRESH and fantastic. The collard greens are so well seasoned (a lot of places under salt their collards), the mac n cheese is tasty and comforting, the red beans and rice is everything I want it to be, and the chicken makes my mouth water just LOOKING at it (and the smell! the crunch! have mercy). When I crave fried chicken I want classic country fried--not the saucy stuff most chicken places around Seattle have. I grew up eating southern soul food and was worried Seattle wouldn't have anything to satisfy that craving--but Soul definitely deserves its name!Edit: Forgot to mention how great the portions are! They really pack the sides full-up!

Maybe yes and Maybe No l not sure about this place. That's because I drove all the way over there and paid $10.00 to park ( That area is very busy and very little parking is available on the street I had the address and couldn't find the place so I walked into the store another restaurant name with the same address and I guess she has a place inside of another restaurant. I was told that she was closed Today. Bummer I was really looking forward to having a nice meal there. Their hours were posted on Yelp as open today Sunday

We got a Groupon for this place and decided to grab dinner here. It's located in the tzar dumpling shop so it looks like they share the kitchenThe groupon was for 1lb of catfish with 6 hush puppies. The ordering was a little weird. We called to place our order and they told us to text instead. Also if we pay card, it was $1 charge, but if you pay cash, it has to be exact change...On to the food:The catfish was fresh and hot, but not as flavorful. There was some spice but you can barely taste it. The hush puppies were denser than most but it was flavorful, however some pieces were still cold inside. Price: without the Groupon, it would have been around $20, which is pricy in my opinion. The meal was almost a light meal for 2 people. Overall, it was ok. Not sure I would be back.

Delicious ! I ordered this restaurant using uber eats for a traditional Christmas dinner while away on a work trip and I'm glad i did ! The food was mostly flavorful, but overall delicious Lemon pepper catfish: tho small in size, these were my favorite Fries chicken : least flavorful, but made up for the perfect crispy Yams: just delicious Mac and cheese : great for restaurant made ! Greens: also delicious- I'm use to mine being slightly spicy, but these i would get again Banana pudding : this was good Overall if I'm ever in Seattle craving soul food I'd get this again.

This would be a zero star review if I had the option.Besides being rude, the woman I dealt with doesn't know how to run a business. I called to place my order as per the directions on the Groupon. She was annoyed when she answered and told me that they don't accept orders over the phone. She asked me to text. So I texted my order and received a response that my order would be ready in 10 min; I needed to pay $3 via Zelle for taxes; text on arrival and she would have the food "upfront" which I took to mean she would bring it to me.I sent a text just before arriving and waited for 5 min. I then sent my son in. After a few more minutes, he called me telling me to text the Groupon and pay the $3 (which I had already paid). I sent her a screenshot of the Groupon and was in the process of sending the Zelle receipt when she came out. I heard her in the background complaining about how she needed to cook. She came to my car and was in a nasty mood. She said that I need to present the Groupon and pay via Zelle. I showed her my phone with the Groupon text to her and the Zelle receipt. She said she asked me whether I wanted the food or not. Then she told me she didn't like my attitude, twice. So I told her she could give me the food if she wanted. She decided she didn't want to after she commented again that she needed to cook.I am all for supporting a small business, but this woman is unpleasant and there is no way her food tastes good enough for me to deal with her nastiness. If you can't stand the heat...

The best hot fresh soul food in Seattle The catfish was perfectly seasoned, super cheesy macaroni and cheese, and the greens were soft and flavorful.

i really wish i could support this business but I just cant. Tried something new catering for a business meeting. I got po boys and a tray of fries with a few sweet teas off of ezcater. the fries were inedible, not cooked. the po boys were bland, the fried oyster po boys did not taste fresh. i ate it because i was starving but then wondered if i was going to get sick from it. the sweet tea I imagined would be legit sweet tea but they were arizona canned sweet teas. pretty disappointed. I would say imagine the hospital cafeteria trying to do soul food and this might be what you get.
