Soto’s Mexican Food

This was my first time trying Soto's Mexican Food on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. A friend had a craving for their chicken flautas and thought I'd give this place a try. As soon as we walked in, we could smell fried beans being cooked. The place smelled like home cooking. We ordered the following:-Carne Asada chips with meat, guacamole, beans, sour cream, cheese, pico de gallo. -Chicken flautas with guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheese. -Carnitas taco bowl with pork carnitas, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. The food was delicious and the portions were HUGE!! I recommend coming to this restaurant hAngry! :DRestaurant offers complementary chips and salsa. Soto's had so many food items on their menu the most I've seen for a small Mexican restaurant. The place was clean with friendly staff. There's plenty of seating indoors, no outdoor seating. Probably one of the best shrimp cocktails I've had in a while. The cocktail had a little bit of spice which made it amazing! Also took a bite out of my wife's Del Mar burrito which contains fish n shrimp ! Really flavorful. Got myself carne asada fries and it so on point. You can tell the meat was fresh. The lady at the front helped me out by recommending these items. Everything was great and the restaurant was clean which is always a plus ! Stopped in by chance this morning when waiting for my car to be serviced nearby and was pleasantly surprised with my experience at this restaurant. Soto has two registers....one for the Mexican food items and another for the fruiteria offerings. The entire restaurant, including the restroom, was well-kept and clean with more modern furniture and decor, and the staff was friendly and patient. It was morning, so not too many customers were there. We decided to split a breakfast burrito with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and cheese and were very happy with the portion and taste. The bacon was thick-cut and perfectly cooked, and the potatoes were crisp. We ate this with their delicious mild salsa and were full by the end of the meal. And bonus... they have complimentary tortilla chips next to the salsa bar! Who does that anymore??Anxious to come back to try other menu items and possibly the fruiteria because we've never been to one.

Everything is good. The fish just need some salty but, it's crispy goodness. The shrimp had a bacon around it, tasted good too. Employees are friendly, The place is clean. Lots of choices in the menu. For drinks, they soda fountains and different kinds of beer. I like that, it's not too loud and the their music is appropriate I recommend this establishment.

Hmm, well.... I like the food and staff, but tips do not go to the employees (sad)Would have given 4-stars because the food is good and staff Mos friendly, but have to knock off 1-star for employees Not getting tipped. Ordered the 5-Rolled Tacos (that what white-people call taquitos). These are crispy and topped with a nice helping of guacamole and pico de gallo. They have delicious salsa, not too hot, but plenty of flavor. Staff is very nice.

Very authentic flavors!This is our 3rd or 4th time here and thus far, food has not disappointed.I ordered the Pechuga de Pollo Empanizada (breaded breast of chicken); my husband ordered enchiladas de carne & son had the chimichanga (his favorite). I decided to splurged and got a chamango (mango chunks with tamarindo & chamoy): delish!!

Did a quick stop and decided to get a burrito to go. Ordered the California Burrito and it was delish. Definitely coming back!

I was very impressed by this place's Pollo Asado! Definitely will be coming back here pretty often!

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants! Their carne asada fries are delicious and their portion sizes are great. The employees are also so friendly! Highly recommend.

Just came for for dinner and the place was empty at 5:30 pm. There are no prices on the menu and you had to ask how much each item is. I don't like asking for prices and don't like being surprised at the cost if I don't ask. I would have gotten a soda but was embarrassed to ask the price. My food came on a metal tray instead of a plate- didn't like that either. I won't be back and can't recommend. My food was just okay.
