Stumbled upon the pop up when we stopped for milk tea at Tobi's tea. They had assam chai, salted cream ube and cookies and cream left. The girl told me if I bought 2, she'd give me 1. I was charged for all 3 anyways. Donuts weren't very good, they lacked flavorful and filling (i.e. not really filled at all), the brioche was tough, not light or fluffy and the sugar on the exterior of donut was wet; end of the day feel. I was told the chai was very strong but it didn't hit...at all. We took a few bites of each and then threw the box away....leaving probably half of each one.

I loved my donuts from Sonrisa! I drove all the way from the Eastside to the pop-up in Ballard and arrived around 2:30. There was no line and pick up was super easy once I found the booth tucked in the back of the brewery (I wish there were small signs outside to confirm the location and direction once inside). These donuts were so soft and pillowy, and the cream to dough ratio inside was perfect. Of all the flavors, Thai milk tea was the weakest (still yummy though) and birthday cake was my favorite

This isn't a café or a bakery. They have an "IG" page were they announce were their going to be setting their stall. Their insta page plus vloggers have flooded their page with the pics and video's of visually pleasing donuts. Lets just say that I was one of the ones you got fooled. We visited them when they had set up their stall at "Seattle fish Guys". The time mentioned on their page was from 11:00am, it was a cold rainy day, first they set everything in the store and then they decided to or were told to set it outside, which took 1/2hr standing in that cold breeze. But I was dedicated seeing the pics on gram plus a customer behind me had a pack of donuts pre ordered plus got in the line to get more, I was like ok must be that good. You can only order 5 donuts. So we got their:-2 Chocolate Abuelita:- Cold Dense donuts with chocolate cream. The chocolate flavor tasted like the ones you get from Asian market. 2 thai Milk Tea:- Cold dense doughnut with awful cream1 Pandan Kaya:- Cold dense doughnut with Pandan cream. The cream tasted awesome. We paid a total of $30 for 5 small cold dense doughnuts. In a nutshell, overly priced and overly hyped.

I went by the cafe aloe popup.I had high hopes when I visited seeing it on IG, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. The two flavors I tried, strawberry tiramisu and flan butterscotch brulee, were not only stale but also underwhelming in taste. The texture of the donuts was dry, as if they had been sitting out for a long time. The flavors lacked the freshness and excitement I was expecting. I couldn't believe I paid for such disappointing donuts was about 13 bucks for both (including tax). I won't be coming back, and I strongly advise others to find a different place for their donut cravings.

*NOTE: Saw this was established already on Yelp, but do not about know this Fremont address*Review, photos, and tip are based on my visit to the Sonrisa Donuts pop up location hosted at Santo Coffee on 8/14/22*Pro tip - Follow via Instagram @sonrisa.donuts for pre-order and pop up scheduleDoughnuts are deeply ingrained since childhood. However, doughnuts have truly upped their game with so many family run indies and entrepreneur pop ups in the King, Kitsap and Snohomish County region. However, focusing on brioche style doughnuts, the late Sophie's Donuts on Eastlake first put them on my radar screen and set the benchmark back in the 1990s. This was then followed by General Porpoise in Pioneer Square, and then The Flour Box in Hillman City. Now the supremely popular Sonrisa Donuts via pop up. I was able to finally nail a pre-order back on 8/8/22 despite the glitchy online system. This sunny Sunday morning (8/14/22), the Sonrisa Donuts pop up was hosted at Santo Coffee on 65th. There was a long line for pre-paid/pre-orders and even longer line for walk-ups hoping for à la carte doughnuts or for the mango special crafted onsite. The batch I picked up contained the following flavors: raspberry, mulberry matcha, tropical passionfruit, vanilla, and Milo. The latter is a Nestlé brand popular in Asia and Australia. The tropical passionfruit was top notch for me!Sonrisa Donuts was established at the height of the pandemic in 2020, by Jing, a professionally trained chef from Thailand. Sonrisa is the Spanish word for smile. To paraphrase from her website, she wanted to share "joy that constantly fills my kitchen". Well looks like her crafted creations stirs up a frenzy, including me late to this party!Patience is truly rewarded with a box of gems crafted with dedication and love!

Sonrisa Donuts are hands down the best donuts I've ever had. The donuts they make are brioche style donuts so they are filled with all types of unique flavors she creates. Whenever Sonrisa is at the Ruston Waterfront, I make sure to pre-order a box. Today we pre-ordered and purchased a box with these flavors- strawberry tiramisu, chocolate fudge, passion fruit cream cheese, mulberry matcha and vanilla custard. As always every custard filled donut blows your mind in flavor!! I follow them on Instagram so I know where their next pop up will be!

These donuts are definitely made with love. I love the popup concept of their store. Because of the small batch size, you know the quality will be great. Indeed they are, the dough is bread-like, instead of cake-like, and it is one of the lightest we have tried. The fillings were definitely smooth and very light, not sweet at all, very delicate. They were all equally pleasant. With the chef being super friendly, it added to the enjoyment.

Wow, what yummy brioche donuts. Lucked into their pop-up at Cafe Aloe in Bellevue on Sat morning, as I was headed to the Bellevue Art Fair. I loved the mango ones the best, but the taro was good too. Took them home and had them with a home made latte, in my new octopus mug I picked up from the fair.I saw on their web site that owner/chef Jing makes other flavors too. I think the strawberry ones would be great. I also think it would be great to be hidden away in Jing's kitchen, and them pop out and eat them when still warm. LOL!

After seeing Sonrisa on Instagram for months, I was excited to finally attend a pop up on a day I had free! I attended at Coffeeholic House in Greenwood and the Menu was: Butterscotch Caramelized Banana, Strawberry Chocolate Cake, Mochi Brown Sugar, and Passion Fruit. Everyone was happy to wait in the line, and the business owner was extremely kind. The donuts were beautiful as they always look online, but I was overall very disappointed. Flavor-wise, the donuts are lacking a lot. The fillings are so subtle that you end up tasting the oil flavor the donuts were fried in, which should never be the case. Since brioche donuts have no frosting, the fillings need to pack a punch and these all fell flat for me (especially the brown sugar mochi donut which had no filling). But worse that that was the donuts were very dry, with the filling not being enough to counteract the amount of dry dough. The Mochi Brown Sugar came with a small pot of sea salt crema to dip in, but even then it was still a lot of overly dry donut without enough moisture. I LOVE brioche donuts, so the issue is not with the type of donut but the amount of frying time and the storage of the donuts. They all seemed stale, which I suspect is because they are stored in open bins throughout the pop up, this may be an easy fix if they changed the storage. Also, the line was not that long (see picture) when I arrived, and I was shocked it took over 20 minutes to get through the line. I get wanting to connect with each customer, but there are a number of things that could have helped this process speed up (signs with the flavors to not repeat them for each customer, prepackaged sets of 4 since it seemed 3/4 people were wanting one of each flavor, etc). Finally, the cost. I fully understand this is a small business, but I was put off by being asked to tip already expensive donuts. Typically tipping is not meant to be for the proprietor of a business, only the staff, so with a 1 women business I found this off-putting. Pricing should be set to include all of your costs including necessary wages. That said, I went ahead and tipped since it seemed to be expected, but was frustrated to see almost $30 for 4 donuts after tip, when the products were subpar. If I'd loved the donuts, this pricing would have been fine as Seattle is expensive. But for dry donuts with too-mild flavors, I will not be revisiting future pop-ups.
