**4.5 Stars**Very impressed with our first, long overdue visit to Sojourn, which is connected to the Davis Theatre in Lincoln Square. From the well thought out decor and varied menu, to the service and execution of the dishes, Sojourn has quickly moved high up in our regular rotation. As I said, the decor inside is lovely, that perfect blend of higher end and comfortable and homey. Sojourn is larger than I expected, with an expansive dining room and large bar area, as well as a patio perfect for the summer. Service was friendly and attentive, even as our server was commanding both inside and outside. The menu itself poses a challenge in that there are so many great options, all depends on your appetite. We started with the hummus platter, which seemed a bit costly at $18, but with a portion like that was sure worth it. Compared to your average $14 hummus at the local bar, this was exquisite, truly some of the best hummus we've had in the area. The texture was great, and everything was seasoned well, from the hummus and pita down to the individual slices of veggies. Excellent! We were similarly impressed with the entrees. My apple and walnut salad with chicken, goat cheese, and pomegranate was one of the best salads I've had in a long time, a huge portion of perfectly seared and juicy chicken chopped up with all sorts of wonderful fresh and bright flavors. The pomegranates, in particular, added such a brightness and literal burst of flavor. Excellent! The veggie burger was similarly well done, again seared wonderfully with a great texture and a flavor far superior to your average Beyond Burger. Definitely a dish we would have again, particularly paired with the top notch mac and cheese. The one, very minor knock could be the cocktails. The prices are great, far more reasonable than most places, but the execution was just short of great. My wife certainly enjoyed her French 75, but my Strawberry Basil gin cocktail was more strawberry and gin with a basil lead thrown in at the end than a perfectly balanced cocktail. The basil should have been in the mixer with the crushed ice while shaking the drink - instead, it was added after. Maybe a one time mistake, and it is certainly forgivable, but was noted. That said, we've been looking for a new "go to" as we've exhausted some of our previous ones, and I think Sojourn just might be it!

We were in town to celebrate our son's graduation, and we planned to have an early family dinner across the street from Sojourn. The restaurant where we had the reservation didn't open until 5 pm, and it was raining softly, so we decided to duck into the bar at Sojourn while we waited. What a pleasant surprise. The cocktails were interesting -- from the Strawberry Basil Smash, a whiskey-based drink, to the Espresso Martini, they did not disappoint. They also had a drink called "Liquid Taco Bar" or something like that. I wasn't adventurous enough to try it. I'm sad we didn't take pictures because the place looks great. The service was impeccable, and we would return.

I was a big fan of Carbon Arc and was sad to see it closed. I loved the food, especially the smash burger and that lovely pate. It was also great to be able to take food and drinks into a movie.Wasn't even sure that they were going to do anything to the space until one night at a movie, we saw a sign promising a new venue. Well, I have to say, Sojourn lived up to this promise. The new space is lovely! I love the way they reorganized the joint. Carbon Arc had an open concept, but Sojourn placed a room divider that functions as bookcase. The space feels like a living, all cozy and inviting. I love the color palate, soft beiges and the photos on the wall. The other nice thing about Sojourn is that it fits that old adage that everything old is new again. It was wonderful to see some of the old crew from Carbon Arc working at the place. It truly made the new space feel like home.Let's get to the food and drinks. I absolutely adore the Korean Fried Chicken & Fries! This is an appetizer but man this should be an entrée. The chicken was fried and had a lovely crunch to it. The chicken was covered in a nice, sweet chili sauce, I believe. It had a little heat but not too much. This is something I would definitely get again. The burger was good, a solid meal too, but the Korean Fried Chicken & Fries ruined me for anything else after that. The Queen got the expresso martini. She enjoyed it, but I have to say that it is not something I would get. It was not the creamy type, which I like. But The Queen thought it was great. I also love that they have the Gruet Sparkling Rose at a reasonable price. They do have Veuve Clicquot for $100, but that was a hard pass for me. When it was Carbon Arc, I use to get that for $50 a bottle and that was amazing....will miss that. But so far, Sojourn has enough going on to make me want to come back. Overall, so happy to that there is food and bubbles back in this space with my movies. Chicken and Bubbles, baby, I am back!

We've been eagerly awaiting the big reveal of Carbon Arc to Sojourn. I must say, I love what they did to the space! It's cozy, colorful, and inviting. Mostly cosmetic updates, if you've been in before. I love a good burger, and am secretly hoping a burger deal becomes a thing for a weekday. This burger is totally solid. I mean that it's not trying to be incredibly unique with a sauce that's loved by half and hated by the other half. It's really nicely done. The side salad is unique and I appreciated that it wasn't simply lettuce in a bowl. This had banana peppers, chickpeas, onions, etc. A very nice side salad. I liked my espresso martini, but I feel like it could use a little oomph. That's something that's everywhere right now, so I'd love to see one that's exceptional to make me come in for a drink just to have that. Maybe add a touch of Bailey's? I'm not a bartender, just a fan. :) Overall, so happy to see people in this space again. We'll make this part of our eating out dinner rotation and look forward to trying more things on the new menu.

Came into Sojourn on a whim after coming into Lincoln Square to buy a gift down the street for a cocktail and I was so pleasantly surprised. The bar area had a great ambiance and vibe, and the bar staff was so knowledgeable and friendly helping me pick out a drink. Made for an excellent nightcap on a Saturday evening. Excited to come back and eat!

We visited this new (to us) spot for Sunday brunch. We had a great experience, enjoying some skillets, pancakes, eggs, and coffee. The seating and service was friendly and quick. Our food was very good, and as our check was delivered they informed us it was buy one get one for the first hour of business! We were unaware when we made our reservation, but pleasantly surprised by our low bill.

Love this place! We live in the neighborhood and have lots of options for dining out, but we keep coming back here time and again. I've enjoyed cocktails and apps at the bar - the hummus plate is amazing! - as well as dinner and brunch. Great ambiance, service, and food every time!
