My family, some of my closest friends, and I planned to attend the San Diego Padres Filipino Heritage Night baseball game on Tuesday August 13th versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. For other Padres games this year, we would eat at Bub's at the Ballpark. One of my best friends suggested that we meet at Social Tap and it was a good call on his part. It had a good vibe, it was close to Petco Park, and the food was delicious.Social Tap is a short walk to Petco Park. The closest structure to park at and is a short jaunt to the sports bar is the 6th and K Parkade. The restaurant is specifically on the corner of J Street and 8th Avenue. It is across the street from the tall Sempra building and a fire station. It's a few steps away from California Coast Credit Union and City Tacos. Social Tap opens at 3pm, so we got there early to hang out and eat before the game. It's a spacious restaurant that gives off a sports bar vibe. There is plenty of seating with inside, outdoor, and bar top seating. It's got a great view of Gallagher Square. There are plenty of televisions to watch any sports that are playing. Natural sunlight emanates from the view of the ballpark. I liked the accents throughout the restaurant with the brick walls and the neon Eat, Drink, and Be Social sign, the decorative light fixtures, the distressed colored flooring, and other parts of the restaurant where there were good photo opportunities. Our server provided good customer service, but she needed to check on us more often.I need to dine at Social Tap another time, so that I can make another assessment of their food. The food was just okay to me and it didn't blow me away like the food I had at Bub's. It could have been because I shared the entree I ordered with my wife. We ordered the following: BBQ Bacon Burger, Pretzel Bites, Truffle Fries, and Cajun Shrimp Pasta. The BBQ Bacon Burger comes with two beef patties, Applewood bacon, BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, fried onions, and encapsulated between brioche bread. It was tasty and I really enjoyed it, but I only got to eat half of it. The included fries were hearty, tasty, and seasoned right. The Pretzel Bites are rounded salted balls of pretzels served with poblano cheese sauce. I'm a pretzel fan, so I enjoyed this appetizer. The Truffle fries are thick cut fries with black truffle oil, parsley, paprika, and thyme aioli. They were really good and ate well with the dip. My son had the Cajun shrimp pasta, saved some for me, and I thought it was okay.My family, friends, and I enjoyed dining at Social Tap. I liked the vibe, we received good customer service, and I need to try this place out again to see if my review changes.

Pretty cool that you can see/hear the Padres play from the patio. They were busy on game day but our server did great. My burger was yummy and satisfying, I would've finished it if I weren't so full.I was happy with what I got, just order wisely. The ahi tacos looked sad, lol.

A friend and I were planning on going to a Padres game and came here before it started. I ordered the calamari which had a sweet and spicy sauce which was overpowering as they added a lot. Additionally, the portion size was small for the price. The food was ready quicker than I thought since it was pretty busy but my friend ordered a moscow mule which didn't arrive until after the food. The place is pretty loud but definitely has the feel of a sports bar.

Food was bomb and service was quick! The manager Shawn said the wings are bomb, and they did not disappoint. Definitely recommend.

Amazing bar just outside Petco Stadium. Great spot to grab a drink before the game or post game celebration. The service was very friendly and efficient despite a completely packed bar. Beers were cold and fresh and the appetizers were delicious as well. Would recommend if coming to a game or one of the stop by a place nearby.

My gf and I were downtown and there so happened to be a game. We decided to check this spot out. We were seated out on the patio which is adjacent to the newly redesigned Gallagher Park. Sitting there almost gives you the feel of being at the game. We grabbed some drinks and settled on some chips and salsa. They were par for the course, but I ordered some wings and those were the show stoppers. The wings were tender and the sauce was delicious. Highly recommend this spot, especially when there is a game.

We stopped by here before a Padres game. It was crowded, but there was only two of us so we were able to fit in. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. The appetizer came out even before we got water or our beverages. Food was good. We had chips with guacamole and salsa. The chips tasted a little stale, but the serving of guacamole was heaping, so I'm overlooking that. Usually restaurants are stingy with the guac so this was huge to me. Service was very slow, but I'm attributing that to the Padres game. Otherwise drinks were good, food was good and prices very reasonable. Definitely recommend!

The family and I came to watch the niners game on a Sunday morning because we had gotten turned away at our favorite niners bar - Bootleggers (apparently well behaved 12 year olds can't sit at the Bootleggers patio during game days ). Our misfortune turned out to be a great experience because we discovered Social Tap which is kid friendly and even has a dog friendly patio! We ordered Brussel sprouts to share and they were pretty good. I wasn't a huge fan of my breakfast sandwich as it came in a burger bun and was just too much cheese drowning my egg and bacon slices (next time I think I'll just get a burger). My husband's steak and eggs were alright (much better than my breakfast sandwich) and my kids seem to enjoy their choices (breakfast burger and millennial toast which was just avocado toast with some micro greens on top). I would give the food overall 3 stars. What ultimately led to this place being 4 stars was the overall experience (which I'd give 5 stars). It was easy to be seated, the servers were friendly and attentive. And best of all, there were so many TVs that you could see the football game from anywhere! This might be our new go to bar for Sunday football when our kids are in tow!

We celebrated a birthday dinner there on July 20th, there was a group of 8 of us girl and the experience was great! Sean, I believe is his name was such a great worker, he truly MADE mine and my best friends birthday dinner special. When we got there the worker who first sat us down we could tell he wasn't having a great day, but Sean stepped in patted the male worker on the back and went on to give us a warm welcome to San Diego. He took great care of our group, food was really good, energy and music was great. 10/10 experience, we can't wait to come back!!!
