Ok, listen I want to help this restaurant. Your presentation was good**** Your bbq ribs were tender drop off the bone delicious**** The brisket and pulled pork **** was delicious. I am a southern Diego girl and the bake beans taste like asphalt, flavor structure needs to be completely modified OK, mac & cheese needs different seasoning. The collard greens had way too much vinegar. You need more onion and garlic powder. The bbq sauce needs improvement to taste like bbq sauce. The Olympics will be here this summer.. I'm just saying... make some modifications soon. Thank you for the meal.

This review is for Smokin' Joe's mobile unit that sets up outside of Iowa Meat Farms on Mission Gorge Rd.We've been wanting to try them for a looooong time, but always seem to be there on the wrong day, or just as they are tearing down. Finally, after months and months of anticipation my husband caught them open and serving. He got a half rack of pork ribs for $17.00 and a half chicken for $7.00They don't baste the meat with sauce, but they give a bunch of small containers of spicy and mild sauce. I'll get to the point! Was it good? Not at all, and here's why. The rib meat was dry, tough and under cooked. They use a smoker but there was no smoke flavor. They do a rub that was way too peppery for my husband's taste. That would have been OK if the meat was cooked right. I can't eat the chicken because it was WAY under cooked! You should be able to pull a leg or a wing off of a chicken easily and the juices in the joints should be clear with no trace of blood. Not so with this bird. I flat could not pull it apart. The meat should show no pink. The breast should be white to the bone, not pink! Not so with this bird! Needless to say, I am going to have to finish cooking it to make it safe to eat, as more that half of chicken in the USA is contaminated with salmonella, and MUST be thoroughly cooked. My husband did not like the flavor of the sauce. I thought it was okay but nothing to slap yo' mama over.My husband's exact words were, "I took a chance and I got burned. I'm gonna make myself eat it because I spent good money on it but I'll never be back." I agree with him 100%. I don't have time to recook the chicken till I get home from my gig, so that 7 bucks will more than likely wind up in the garbage, and that just ain't right.

We just got a plate with chicken and brisket and I'm dying at how good it is! So delicious. I think we're gonna go back for a whole chicken - oh my gosh!! This guy sets up outside Iowa Meats Fri, Sat, and Sun. I don't know he doesn't have more hype. I am wowed.

The BEST bbq in town. They are outside Iowa Farms Butcher Shop off Mission Gorge Friday and Saturday. We stopped by here before we moved because we wouldn't be able to have it until we came back to visit. I saw it as our last meal and it did not disappoint. The half smoked chicken is so moist and yummy. We also always get a full rack of beef ribs with spicy bbq sauce. No other BBQ compares.

I travel extensively for business and have become a bit particular about BBQ. There is a fine line between too dry/wet, bland/spicy, etc. Today was our third visit to Smokin' Joe, it is a favorite of our family. They are next to Iowa Meat Farms on weekends. The brisket is excellent - smoky, tender, with a nice seat around the edges. The pulled pork is full of flavor. The hot links are spicy but not firey hot. They offer medium and spicy sauces, both are great. This is a great stop to pick up an easy meal!
