one star for the super friendly server and host who helped us today. Young man who was super helpful and kind. One star for the cleanliness. It's spotlessOne star for attempting to do bbq but its off. I don't recommended the brisket hoagie because the brisket is chopped up like shredded pulled pork and then cooked on a flattop with cheese, peppers and onions so much that you would barely be able to identify it is brisket. It's more like a Philly cheesesteak and leftover brisket had a baby and not in a good way. If the F&B manager goes on a road trip, Harris ranch on the 5 freeway has an amazing brisket and cheddar sandwich. Try it and then come taste what you are passing off! Or locally, just drive to the other side of Coronado and try the brisket at Little Piggy by the ferry. The Bloody Mary had a really odd flavor too. Do not recommend. The St. Regis has a unique Bloody Mary at every location. Perhaps their F&B manager should do some research. Very disappointed in the items for the price.

Came to try out the new BBQ joint that was transformed from the old Laundry Room at the Hotel Del.I got the smokehouse plate which consisted of your choice of 2 meats and 2 sides. I chose brisket and (pork) ribs and beans and tots as my sides. We also got the jalapeño cheddar sausage and 1/2 chicken. The smoke house plate was a great deal and comes with rolls pickles, pickled onions and jalapeños. All the meats had a good smokey flavor, maybe the most that I've experienced of the local BBQ places. For the chicken they used was Mary's Organic, it was the most surprising of the bunch as it was moist and tender and probably one of the hardest things to smoke as its easy to dry out. The brisket and pork ribs were very well seasoned and had a good smoke flavor, it wasn't the most tender that I've had but still very flavorful and worth getting. The sausage was also good, I thought was cooked very well but could have used a little more salt. The tots were crispy and the beans were HUGE! Largest beans I've ever seen and I thought they were excellent. They had a good flavor and not overly sweet. The place was transformed from the old Hotel Del Laundry room. Its quite spacious and you can still see some of the brackets in the ceiling where the laundry bails used to be hung by. Theres a bar/waiting area when you enter and also a private room for small corporate events or parties.Service was attentive and on point. The Smokehouse is located in a separate building at the front of the hotel, which if you're driving and parking on the street is most likely what you consider the back of the hotel as its furthest from the main strip on Orange ave. Look for the iconic round pointy castle looking part of the hotel, that's the front of the hotel. Once there. look for the brick tower/obelisk type structure that will lead you in the direction of the Smoke house. It was a good meal, and it was fun being in such a historic place, I like that they left some of the original structure there so you could still see that it used to be the laundry room.Note: There is also a 1.888% HPF charge (Historic Preservation Fund) which is charged on all Hotel Del businesses, to help maintain the building since its a historical landmark. 1.888% because it was a built in 1888.

The original Laundry building constructed in 1919 for the Hotel Del Coronado was renovated as part of the property's multi-year redevelopment plan that cost nearly half a billion dollars. The massive space was converted into a restaurant and bar that serves barbecue and cocktails. When you walk in, it feels like you have been transported back into time. Plenty of vintage features, including the wood floors and original brickwork, were restored. You can even seen the rails in the vaulted ceiling where hanging laundry was conveyed across the room. The kitchen consisted of a smoker and stationary food trailer located on the lawn behind the building. There was a back patio too for outdoor seating. For a facility that can hold 150+ customers, I don't think I have ever encountered such wide spacing in between tables and high-tops. When we arrived on the official grand opening day, the hostess told us there was a 15-minute wait. Plenty of open tables were available so we suspect that they may have been short staffed on servers.Brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, pork ribs, pulled pork, and smoked chicken were the slow cooked meats on the menu. Five starters, four smoked vegetables, five sides, and four sauces made up the rest of the offerings. The sauces were provided based on the meat(s) that you ordered. The Smokehouse Plate ($33) was definitely the best value. It came with a choice of two meats and two sides. My friend ordered that with brisket, pork ribs, tater tots, and BBQ beans. I picked two meats a la carte, the jalapeño cheddar sausage and smoked chicken. A plate of four complimentary sweet rolls came with the food.Unlike some of the parties that were seated after us, our order was delivered fairly quickly. Each tray of meat had pickled cucumbers, pickled red onions, and pickled jalapenos as garnishments along with three different sauces. The tater tots were sprinkled with sea salt and cracked black pepper. The BBQ beans used a gigante variety that was cooked with brown sugar, bacon lardon, tomato, and bay leaves.Of the four meats we sampled, my favorite was the chicken which was a surprise if you told me that beforehand. Poultry can easily be overcooked and dry, but the chef did a terrific job of smoking the chicken and retaining moisture. The brisket was the next best meat followed by the ribs and sausage. The amount of meat was pricey if you ordered it a la carte, however with the sides, garnishments, and rolls, there was plenty of food for both of us.The service was sluggish at times as I think the staff was getting its feet wet with how to optimally cover the tables in each area of the vast dining room. If I was a hotel guest, then the Smokehouse & Bar at the Historic Laundry would definitely be a dining spot to check out. It's more casual and laid back than the flagship seafood restaurant connected to the hotel, but you do have to walk towards the northeastern edge of the grounds to the standalone structure.

Kind of blown away. Full disclosure. I was able to enjoy Smokehouse as part of a soft opening. They officially open to the public on the 14th; and let me say.. go! From friendly outgoing service to their mouthwatering menu, Smokehouse at the Historic Laundry is the place to try. Located in what was Hotel Del Coronado's laundry faculty (full story on their website) this old space has gotten new life as an a American/BBQ hangout. Let me tell you, they really pulled this off. Inside this cavernous space there's a lounge, restored antique bar and several televisions for sports and event viewing. I could do without the TVs but dang; this place is so roomy and comfortable. There's a really interesting mural on the back side wall of Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis giving a nod to the history of the Hotel Del Coronado. Love how they left the old laundry tracks in place. Vintage and cool. The buildout of the space didn't include a kitchen. Instead they opted to use their own smoker and food truck located just outside the space. Outside there's plenty of seating to enjoy the gorgeous San Diego weather. I can see myself enjoying drinks and foods here many times. Food wise we're looking at serious comforting dishes. For me the smoked carrots, smoked chicken and iceberg slab were my favorites. Oh, the potato salad and Del Mac & Cheese deserve a serious shout out. With such as a small "kitchen" they sure pumped out the dishes. I love how they leaned into their smoker for many of their signature dishes including the smoked eggplant with grilled focaccia. This place tastes like summer. We finished up with a stellar Peach Cobbler. Easily shared between 4 people (it's large) it was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. I'm still thinking about it. With such an amazing space, great service and high quality, Smokehouse really delivers. I'm looking forward to visiting again."I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I'm out of control, and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best." -Marilyn Monroe

The Historic Laundry at the Hotel Del is incredibly interesting physically and in overall presentation. The entrance, see my pic, is quite understated yet is full of quality features: the red brick relief, wrought Iron and the great quiet street. And so you expect smaller restaurant, but inside is a cavernous place, see my pic. It's a large bar on the left side, yet its small in scale to the room size. And down the way on the right-hand side is a full sized shuffle board, 2 pin ball machines and darts, around the corner. There are numerous large screen TVs playing sports. Aside from the Start & Share, there are 3 entrée items: Mary's Chicken Legs at $24.00 for 2, a Smokehouse Plate for $42.00 and the Family Feast for $230.00. Otherwise, meats are sold by the pound and everything is ala carte. So if you're reading this ahead of time, you may want to preview the menu before arriving. While we eat often, we aren't big eaters and shared the Smokehouse Plate (I'll gladly report that I concerned that I'd get an attitude for ordering and splitting a single entry for 2, but the staff was professional and accommodating.). We selected the Brisket (5 oz), Pulled Pork (4 oz), Cole Slaw and BBQ Beans as our options. The Pulled Pork was good; it had the requisite savoriness and richness, with a mild amount of smoke flavor. The Brisket was fairly tender, great bark (as you can see in my pic) but it also had a ton of fat. Kudos for supplying their 3 types of sauces: Coronado Sauce ( a citrus Carolina style), West Coast (a classis Memphis style) and a Peach Mop (peach and mustard based sauce). I'm a fan of mixing and matching - you have options here. The sides were a treat, see my pic. The Cole Slaw was lightly seasoned with a grilled apple vinaigrette and had the apple slices to go with it. The BBQ Beans were made the old fashioned way: bacon lardons and big, whole beans. This was rich and savory; what's not to like.

Waited hungry for two hours for this new, exciting place to open. Looked amazing... but wasn't. Haven't been this disappointed in food in a very long time. My first choices for food and cocktails on the menu weren't available, and that was ok because second choicessounded amazing too... unfortunately, they weren't to say the least. Lots of stars for the atmosphere and potential, but zero to one stars for the sad, disappointing drink and food. Sorry, I was all set to be stoked on this place. Given how much I spent on dinner, felt the need to warn others.

We were at Hotel Del Coronado to eat again at Serea Coastal Cuisine one of their restaurants that we regularly dine in at, but we couldn't find parking so we ended up parking near the Bluewater Grill area. While walking towards Hotel Del Coronado, a sign on the sidewalk said "SMOKEHOUSE & BAR open from 4 pm to 10 pm", I told my Son that I never saw this Bbq place here before so I said, "Let's check them out". Upon arriving, we saw that the place was so Spacious on the inside, and I found out that they are Pet Friendly also! We were 4th in line to get in and I overheard that it was their Grand Opening . They didn't sit us all immediately, so they let us wait either in the Bar or their Lobby area, it took like 10 minutes before everyone got seated. We started ordering and got: *SMOKE QUESO DIP & GIANT PRETZEL - Warm cheese dip, tomatoes, onion, and jalapeños.*SMOKE HOUSE PLATE - BRISKET and PORK RIBS with sides of Bbq beans & Coleslaw.*SMOKE HOUSE PLATE - BRISKET and PULLED PORK with the side of Tator tots and Mac and Cheese.*JALAPENO CHEDDAR SAUSAGE *JUICE JOINT AT THE LAUNDRY - Whiskey, mezcal, Campari, lichi, pineapple, lime, simple, and strawberry jam served with black salt and strawberry dust.* PARIS TART TEXAS TART - corn flan , chocolate shortbread , chocolate mousse , poppy cock There's nothing much to say about the pretzel, it was just a regular pretzel, like every other pretzel. My JUICE JOINT at the LAUNDRY drink was good it was Fresh and Sweet. The bbq that I liked was the BRISKET, it was very tender, and the JALAPENO CHEDDAR SAUSAGE, it wasnt very spicy and it is a Juicy sausage, the rest was just okay. They come with 3 sauces. I don't remember the names, but I like the Yellowish color sauce that they had. I didn't like any of the SIDES, the beans were big and the coleslaw needed more sauces. For the DESSERT we got the PARIS TEXAS TART, I like Flans but i didn't like the Flan in this Tart , but the chocolate mousse and the Popcorn that had Caramel and chocolate were good. Our server was very Nice, but I'm not sure if the food here is something that I will crave, but they were okay but i hope they bring out more Flavor on their Bbq 's . They just opened, so maybe we will go back again in a month to try their food again .

Where to start...20+ minutes in line just to hear "Out of ribs" (6PM) at a smoke house. Never received our bread nor our Sprite refill or BBQ sauce. I had to go to the bar to get a refill and servers and bartenders were just laughing around.Waited 31 minutes for our food (food that should be ready to go since it "cooks all day" as the manager said). Everyone around you is comfused and upset waiting.Food is mediocre, staff is rude and they are "behind" when half of the restaurant is empty.Who is responsible for this place beside no one?!FYI: your food will be cold, it is most likely because it has to travel outside from one building to an other. Let's not talk about hygiene about it.

The food was alright, but the service was mediocre. The cocktail selection did not offer much variety. We ordered a drink with Mezcal and it tasted like a cup of smoke. The waitress basically told us "well it was what you ordered" and then was less attentive the rest of the meal and at the end added a 18% service fee. While we typically tip more than that, the issue is that the waitress stopping taking care of our table and slapped they fee on our bill. All it would have taken was an offer of another drink or refund and the experience would have been saved. We got the brisket and pulled pork and enjoyed both. The wedge salad was delicious and the green goddess dressing was very tasty. The rolls were not the best and a bit stale.
