Tucked away on the exit of the west Seattle bridge going onto delridge is a low key hidden gem called the Skylark. At first glance, you probably would have thought it's an auto repair shop. You may have seen the old school sign coming off the free way that sparked your interest and with a quick google search, you come to find that this place apparently has smoked meats, delicious pub food, offers near nightly events like trivia, live music and as I saw...a Mario kart tournament! In one word...this place is fun! Ambiance: I'd call it an elevated dive bar. Immaculately clean. Quirky and hilarious art (see Saint Danny). Battle of the bands-esque merch that sets the vibe off right immediately. Good & Drink: we were shocked at how exceptional the menu, extensive tap and cocktail list and house made kimchi and pickles??? Sign me all the way up. I got a very stiff vodka soda (a snooze fest, I know) and the fried chicken. Oh lord the chicken! Not your mothers grocery deli tendies, alright? Understood? Good. Well, this Amy have been the best fried chicken I've ever had. Our exceptional bartender told me their juicy chicken thighs go through a multi day buttermilk brine process. Their seasoning was a secret. I saw the chef bread them before my very eyes and fry em up. The minute I sank my chompers into the crunchy, oil spewing, flavor explosive piece of chicken, I know in that instant I was going to be a regular here. I felt a conflicting sense of "why isn't this place on every food blogs best kept secrets: fried chicken edition" paired with a healthy dose of "I need to keep this hidden treasure to myself before it gets overrun with tech bros". Even the fries were hand cut and a tad soggy with the right amount of crunch. My absolute favorite kind of fry. I'm not kidding when I say this place made me want to do a write up on the Skylark and send it out to food publications in the area. Then I realized I'm not a writer, I'm a nobody food fan so here I am! Help gets to deal with me. Service: top freaking notch. So friendly, so nice, such a welcome presence to a long shitty work week. I wish I got her name but it was a Friday at 4:30pm. I'll tip to that. All in all, I can see this becoming the end of the work week spot. I can't wait to try the porkstrami sando and the tofu fries next! Be back soon, Skylark.

This place used to be 5 stars. However, they've recently made dramatic changes that are a total disaster. I was really excited to try all the new food, but it turned out being a major disappointment. The loko elote is litetally just a cup of canned corn with some dehydrated mangos thrown on the top with little flavor. Check our the picture if you don't believe me. The equites is basically the same exact thing, but they put two tiny little stale chicharonnes on the top instead of dehydrated mangos. It was missing the jalapeños and tomatoes that it mentioned in the menu. Again see picture. Some cilantro would have made it suck a little less. Brisket tacos were.....fine if you're willing to put up with crap service, I'd suggest them. The service has also gone way downhill. It used to be great. It took 20 minutes to get an acknowledgement from them when I was at the front of the line. It's heartbreaking to see what has happened to this place that was amazing for the long time. Hopefully they can revive themselves soon, or they won't last.

What a cool place with fun things going on each night. I love that it's all ages, so you can bring your kids and even they can participate in the events happening at Skylark! We showed up for the open mic and had a great time. Good food, fast service, good prices and fun entertainment. I was very impressed with the setup and help for performing at open mic. Go check them out!

I've been to Skylark a couple of times now, and I'm really starting to like the place! The first time was for trivia night (Mondays) - had a great time with new friends, though I can't say I contributed much to our team's efforts. I did enjoy a good beer, though, and a bowl of their tasty chicken pozole. For dessert we feasted on some of their famous churros - it was hard not to eat a bunch of them! For my second visit I ended up there when a couple of bands were playing. Though it's a great space for music, it's also a small space so my ears were definitely ringing by the time I left. Meanwhile, though, I enjoyed the pizza of the day (made in-house, by the way) and a beer from my beloved Bellingham.

First time here recommended by a friend today, I drive by this place all the time and never knew it was here!? I must say it's a very cool place they have a stage and have live music and other cool events. I met the owner named Matt, very nice guy. Anyways down to the good! They make and smoke their own meats, burgers bacon , brisket, Chicken and some other things I believe. I was told to get the brisket and burgers for sure! So we got bacon burger with house made beef that is super tender made up of 3 cuts of beef, the bun is toasted with butter just right and is crispy on the inside and the aioli sauce is great! The only thing I didn't like about the burger was it was smaller than the bun, BUT I only say this bc I wish there was more burger bc it's soooo good!!!!! The bacon is house cut and smoked and tastes delicious nice smoke ring! We got the brisket tacos which were soo good the meat melts in your mouth. The chicken tenders are hand cut and brined/breaded with a very nice batter that tastes great and the chicken is super juicy and not dry at all. The sauces they make are really good the house made hot sauce is awesome a little kick but not melt your face off you can still taste everything you are eating! Will definitely be back to this place! Oh also they are kid friendly till 10p!

Generally has been a great spot for Wednesday Open Mic Music, a terrible place for comedy. The Skylark Cafe is where Woke Comedy thrives and the owners are very rude, requesting that you purchase drinks every hour or get out (I usually over support venues hosting a mic and purchased a lot of food every time... did not purchase anything ONE time and the owner was really mad at me for being broke). It's just a social kindness and empathy gap that is missing between the owners ears...Will not be back here...still a fun environment overall but cant support rude robotic people

Appearance is funky punk rock bar turned cafe. We ordered chicken and waffle. A boneless deep fried piece of chicken on top of a dry stale waffle. The chicken had good flavor and texture. The waffle came with a honey syrup that did not taste like honey at all, it was thin like water and had spicy savory flavor. The waffle was hard, dry and burnt, even a bit black and tasted spicy, not good when I had expected a normal standard type of waffle. No parking at all, so you need to park a ways away and risk walking in this pretty trashy unsafe neighborhood. I would not go back again.

Great fun for brunch or takeout, and surprisingly excellent smoked meats for sale by the pound. I got a whole smoked turkey for Thanksgiving (plus gravy!) and it was easily the best Thanksgiving bird I've ever had. I hope they keep doing Thanksgiving meals to order ahead, because we'll definitely be doing it again next year!

Good happy hour drinks and trivia. But please bring back traditional table service with physical menus! I don't want to play on my phone scrolling through a digital menu while I'm trying to socialize. The digital menu also has very limited descriptions of things, and no description at all of most drinks. And the phone payment system is cumbersome and full of bugs. One person had some error that corrupted our entire table's payment, so we couldn't pay on our phones anyway. We digital natives struggled to make everything work right, and our parents' generation would have been completely unable to order.Having a physical menu and orders taken at my table matters to me, and it impacts whether I want to come back to an establishment.
