Sky Terrace

Hey everyone!I recently checked out this rooftop bar, and honestly, it was just okay. The place itself is alright--nothing too fancy or unique that stands out. The drinks were decent, but they didn't blow me away. One thing that was a bit of a letdown was the view. I was expecting something spectacular, but it turned out to be pretty mediocre. If you're looking for a place with a breathtaking skyline or a beautiful sunset, this might not be it.On the plus side, the staff were really friendly and attentive, which made the experience better. It's an alright spot if you're in the area and just want to hang out, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

Tried to come here twice during their regularly open hours (like 90 min before close). Both times, were sent away as they were "closing." Gave two stars b/c one time the staff at least let me look around for the views.

I am surprised that they didn't try to stay open throughout the winter with outdoor heaters or lamps or something! The last time my way here was over the summer, and it was a great experience. The rooftop is on the smaller side of rooftops in Chicago. There is quite a bit of seating options, but also, if there's nowhere to sit, you can still stand towards the outskirts of the rooftop and admire the view. The reason I'm giving this four stars is because the service was not great, I ordered drinks and it took about 25 minutes to get them. I think it is because it is a newer establishment and likely people are getting used to the larger crowds. Overall a great experience, but excited to see if it has changed or improved.

This is a hidden Chicago Gem: The Ivy Hotel & The Sky Terrace! Went for an event and now I can't stop talking about the place. Try the Paloma...thank me later. Great views, comfy seating areas, fire pits, just the ultimate laid back night. I love that the Sky Terrace can be for a date night, girls night, or even a birthday celebration. The hotel rooms are sleek and modern too so it would be cool to stay overnight and take advantage of everything The Ivy has to offer including the Sky Terrace!

we traveled a very far distance to try this location. based on pictures and reviews it looks good. once we arrived they said they were closed for a private event.

I don't think I have ever written a 1 star review but there's a first time for everything.... this place completely ruined our night. We were expecting a beautiful night on the rooftop with good drinks and food but didn't get any of that. I arrived to meet my friends who had already been at our reservation for about 20 minutes before us. They had just ordered their drinks and apps. It was another 20 minutes before the food arrived. Keep in mind that my friends drinks had not arrived yet and they haven't even taken my drink order either. The food arrived with Saran Wrap on top.... never seen this before.... maybe as a Covid precaution? But as a place that presents itself as a fine establishment rooftop bar, Saran Wrap makes it seem like my food has been sitting in the kitchen under the heater for a while. At this point the server finally took my order and looks at my friends and asks them for their order again... he must have forgotten... no big deal it happens. But their drinks took another 20 minutes before arriving and I never even got my drink because by then it had been an hour with horrible service and we just wanted to leave. Now... going back to the food... we ordered mozzarella sticks, Parmesan fries, and the cheese and fruit board. Food was good overall. They gave us 15 pieces of cheese, grapes, and 6 pieces ritz crackers. Not very proportionate. My friend also pointed out that the description for the fruit and cheese board on the menu stated that we were suppose to receive French baguette bread slices but instead we got some cheap ritz crackers. Nothing was given to us to spread the jam with... and by now, we all just wanted to leave. Waited another 20 minutes with no server in sight before my friend stood up and went to look for him. He was on the other side of the rooftop texting on his phone. My friend asked for the check in which the server asked her "what were your drinks again?". 3rd time that he has asked what the drinks were at this point. We scrambled to get some cash together at this point because god knows how long it'll take if we paid with a card. Horrible experience. Never ever coming back.

Great music, service and atmosphere. The drinks are pricey and reservations are recommended if you want to experience this place.

You HAVE to check this place out for Happy Hour. I think this is an underrated, secret spot for some casual drinks. We stumbled upon this place while looking for a cool rooftop happy hour. It's located inside a hotel and can be hard to find.The food here was good - all we got was the mozzarella sticks though. They only really happy bar/appetizer types of food so a limited menu but, the drinks are what we came for anyways.The drinks here during happy hour are cheap. It's like $5-8 for drinks in downtown Chicago. Unfortunately the drinks were a bit watered down but hopefully this place can turn it around.The atmosphere is great too. It's not big so you can have intimacy with your friends and actually enjoy the time there. They have some music going too, I think they need to pivot to some more upbeat vibes but that's my personal opinion. The view is nice too. Not the best view in Chicago but you can see a lot of buildings and get some sun.Overall, will be returning for happy hour. Super excited to bring people here!

Don't waste your time. Saturday at 6:30p there were less than 10 people there including us. We sat at the bar and waited over 25 minutes to give our drink orders. No one actually took our order despite all 3 of the bartenders making eye contact with us several times. One of the guys seemed literally exhausted (like he was sweating). I'm confused on why he was so busy because the place was empty???Eventually we just left.

10/10 recommend!!! Visit D on the 16th floor you won't be disappointed. He will provide insight to local entertainment as well as fantastic drinks. Keep this guy around, he's amazing!
