Just to make it easier to find, when you go to Silver Reef Casino, never drop by this place ever again lol.Hey, it's fine if you've got a super craving, does the job but loses out on the two very basic requirements:1. Batter---even tasted funny, never mind the texture, a bit too crispy, either old oil and just left too long2. Tartar sauce: not homemade, but Kraft made lol, you know those peanut butter, strawberry jelly ones at Denny's? yup, you can imagine my excitement haha. It's more than just takeout, as they do have several seats to eat inside.Bright, clean...that's about it.

If you have been to Skippers before the collapse then you pretty much know what you are getting. I run my dad up here once per month for lunch or dinner. He loves it. If you haven't been to a Skippers then I will let you know it is pretty much a seafood restaurant that fries everything. We like the chowder a lot and I typically get the Skippers platter while my dad gets the two piece basket. You likely won't leave hungry. My only complaint is that the standard fish they use in their baskets of fairly bland. The clams ,scallops ,shrimp, and fries are pretty good though.

What a bunch of whiners! The reviews for the food at this location are unfair. BooHoo he couldn't call in an order so they get a crummy review! I worked at a Skipper's restaurant in High School and can attest to the fact that the fish and fries were ever bit as good if not better than the original chain restauarants. The order was made fresh not kept in a warmer as was the old way of doing it and the tartar is one of the better tasting available on the market. If you waqnt greasy old tempura or beer battered fish and chips then definetly do NOT eat here because it's not greasy and the batter is nice and thin and holds the fish together nicely. The fact that one of the reviewers used Denny's in comparison tells me all I need to know about his lame taste in food.

The halibut and chips were cooked to perfection. They weren't greasy and the tartar sauce was so good. My 3 year old couldn't get enough of the food either. The staff was super friendly and helpful in making recommendations. I can't wait to try out more on their menu. They offer traditional Skippers options as well as chicken strips, pizzas, chowder, chili and homemade fry bread. Oh yum. So good.

Stopped in for dinner the gentleman at the counter was very helpful and patient while we figured out what to get.The fish and fries were cooked perfectly golden .Also got a baked steak sandwich which was amazing!! Perfect ratio of meat l, veggies and bread. After we ordered it was 15 minutes or les that we were waiting, we had just enough time to gas up (its connected to a gas station) grab a few things and get back to grab our food, worked out well.

Well maybe it's just I have fond memories of what Skippers once was. But at the gas station near the casino this is probably the worst fish and chips I have had in years. The fish maybe it was just freezer burnt or what maybe it was just the fact that the oil was probably good a few days ago that they fried it in. .The breading was barely browned from the frying and the fish was still wet and watery cold on the inside if it wasn't for the burnt coil taste it probably would have been no flavor at all. .The french fries were soggy barely cooked. .The tartar sauce came in a little cup the mine was not even cold and I wonder how long it is not been refrigerated so I didn't try it. .On a good note the coleslaw was excellent.

If you remember the Skippers fish and chip chain from the 1980's, this appears to be the same branding brought back. The fish, chips, chowder and tartar appear to be the same recipe or style as the original Skippers. This is a small fish and chip shop located at a gas station (Lummi Mini Mart). I have noticed these Skippers restaurants popping up at other gas stations too. There are 4 or 5 small tables with seating for about 15 people. They have take out, but when I asked about a phone number to call ahead to place an order, they said they don't take phone orders. In addition to fish, chips and chowder, they also offer some of the traditional convenience store food like, chicken, jo-jo's.I have been there 3 times now, and each time the menu has been evolving, and expanding.Nothing jumps out as particularly exceptional or bad, its simply the old style Skippers food available at a gas station. It is however convenient and simple.
