Shug's Soda Fountain and Ice Cream

Ice cream was good but service was underwhelming and inefficient. I felt bad for the line of people who piled up behind us because we waited ten minutes for our order and there were only two people ahead of us when we arrived. I would be happy to come back, but not if there was a line.

Shug's has a main location in Pike Place Market, but they recently opened this sibling shop in West Seattle. I am happy that they are here because there is a severe lack of dessert places in this neighborhood!They have scoops of ice cream, but I think the sundaes are the real stars here. I had the Sunday Market Sundae, which has fresh fruit sauce, ice cream of your choice, waffle cookie, whip cream, and a cherry. On the day I visited, the featured fruit was pear.Shug's also has various floats like Creamsicle and Root Beer and sodas like cherry or vanilla. They have some espresso drinks and are working on getting their liquor license.They have some indoor seating so you can enjoy your treats there.The workers (I believe they were the owners) were really nice and helpful during our visit. I would definitely recommend this place to others and I will be going back!

The service and the variety of ice cream offerings were good. With the brownie ice cream sundae, I thought the brownie would be either warm or more substantial, but it was neither. The ice cream and toppings were good but the brownie was lacking.

We love taking market shopping breaks here - what's better than a freshly made soda concoction and access to a clean bathroom? ;-p A few weeks ago my father's 2 year death anniversary had me in sad mood, so my partner surprised me with a trip to Shug's for an Egg Cream (introduced to me by my Depression-era Chicagoan father) and it definitely made the rest of the day much more bearable. My sister and I were able to virtually cheers each other with dad's respective soda fountain faves - egg cream and root beer float. The carousel horse ride decoration is always bittersweet to look at as that was also one of dad's favorite rides. I really wanted to check out the West Seattle location this day but I didn't get a reply to my menu inquiry in time. Now that I know the WS location DOES have egg cream, I'll be stopping by very soon!

First thing first, I'm NOT a blueberry guy, but damn it, I'm not afraid to try new things now and again ...but you will sorely be missing out on one of lives most delicious taste that will ever pass your lips!!! Try a scoop of the blueberry icecream (or two or three) on a freshly made waffle cone!The staff is simply awesome and authentic; just as it was before Seattle became a destination not a place!

This is the first time I could say that I've tried every ice cream a business has to offer and each one was fantastic. I went in to taste all the flavors with my fiance and sister as we were considering this business to serve dessert at our wedding. The workers were friendly, Colleen specifically was a treat to talk to and work with and I am so blessed to have ran into her at the seattle wedding expo. Top 3 flavors in my mind are the salted carmel, Guava Sorbet, and vanilla in the cold brew. I'll be back whenever I am near a shugs and they will be scooping at my wedding celebration.
