After eating once, I couldn't help but go there twice more. The fish meat on the sushi was so thick that I couldn't even finish one bite the first time I ate it. Their fried pork cutlet rice is particularly delicious, and they also have very authentic Japanese oden. The store is very small, with a Japanese master chef making sushi and sashimi at the bar and one or two waiters. If you go to eat, you must call to make a reservation. If you walk in directly, you may have to wait in line for a long time.

We stopped in at the recommendation of a friend and enjoyed fantastic sushi by Ken San. We ordered way too much (and over indulged) since we don't have any decent sushi restaurants in SE Washington where we live. We are planning to return when we are in town this summer for a concert. Highly recommend!

Shiki is a small traditional-style Japanese restaurant in Lower Queen Anne. It serves a mix of sushi and classic Japanese dishes. I like the range of food choices here, and the friendly staff, plus the proximity to local theatres, so we go quite regularly. This is a small, simply decorated space with few tables - so reserve in advance if you need a specific time. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Seems perhaps to be a family run place very much in the Japanese tradition for this kind of business. There is limited street parking nearby, plus several pay-lots.The menu is quite broad, with lots of sushi and various meat dishes too. Prices are reasonable. I like the teriyaki and katsu dishes, whose portions are quite large. Our friends have also had the sushi, which seems good, but I am not a sushi expert.I think this restaurant is quite good and varied with consistent high quality. A really great pre-theatre choice.

Shiki is a hidden gem, right by the junction where you start climbing the hill to upper Queen Anne and next to a record store. It has a SIZABLE PARKING AREA reserved for the restaurant. As you enter Chef Ken will greet you, as he works behind the counter. It's a tiny family business. The restaurant itself is small and feels as if you're entering someone's home. However the sushi's that Chef Ken prepares look quite impressive and OMG yummy! I was at the bar and watched him prepare all the awesome plates of sushi and sashimi. Sone huge portions! That day I wanted something hot and ordered sukiyaki which was good. I also got sea urchin sushi which tasted fresh and yummy. Prickled ginger and wasabi were perfect to my taste. Miso soup is very good unlike anywhere else. After watching the chef doing his magic, I am already planning on returning for the sushi and sashimi. The service by perhaps the chef's family is kind and efficient.

This is an off the beaten path unassuming little restaurant in Lower Queen Anne but don't let appearances fool you. The dining room is small, not fancy but cozy. We were promptly greeted by sushi master Ken Yamamoto & was shown to our seat by one of the ladies (his wife perhaps). We sought out Master Ken since he is one of the few in the country that is licensed to serve fugu but alas it was not in season. There are a number of beers and sake selections on the menu but we were here for the chirashi. We both ordered the chirashi along with some nigiri...uni & mirugai. The chirashi was without a doubt the star attraction. Each portion was a huge bowl filled with generous portions of sashimi. I honestly lost count of how many pieces of sashimi there were plus there was kani salad, tamago, ikura and daikon sprouts. Digging all what way under there was a very generous serving of sushi rice topped with furikake. The chirashi is a must have!!! The nigiri also was very fresh and a good size but the chirashi overshadowed that experience.

A "hidden gem" not on the standard Seattle sushi lists, meaning it's way easier to get in for some great food. The combination of quality, value, service, and ambiance is hard to beat. Their menu is tight and focused, but still offers a range of hot food and sushi/sashimi/chirashi plus some solid sake options. Rotating specials are also worth looking into! My go-to is the sushi combo, but you can't go wrong depending on your mood - listen to your belly :) I personally love the small Japanese restaurant aestheic that's familiar to anyone in the JA community. It's not chasing trends, it's just giving you some good food. Currently my most trusted place for a non-omakase, wholesome sushi dinner.

Shiki is a hidden gem. I'm glad my friend recommended this place. They serve fresh ingredient with a great price. I got the chirashi sushi bowl which had a great variety of cuts to try. I ordered the ebi fry which I wish the breading is more crunchy as it has a crispy outer layer but too soft to the bite inside. I will come back again to try other dishes.
