I feel like so many places say the ice cream is homemade and I try and really wonder if that's the case. The menu here basically says that you better believe it's homemade.Apparently it was featured on the food network and the flavor suggested was bourbon butter pecan. I don't really like bourbon and butter pecan is far from my favorite. The lady offered a sample so I took it. And there I was, ordering the least likely ice cream flavor I could possibly think of. It was absolutely fantastic. The family ordered several other flavors and all were really good, creamy and soft. Truly perfect. What a great discovery for us!

Homemade ice cream! Creamy sweet and UMM UNM GOODT! And with a hint! Of sweet girlie gals for service! Just the right combination. Nothing but smiles and love when entering Shawn Michelle's Homemade ice cream! The Vibes were nothing but laughter and genuine kindness. Shoutout to the girls Karrington, Tiana, Kiwora and Karriyana! Pretty faces with tasteful personalities! How could u go wrong with homemade ice cream! Check em out!

First, I want to celebrate the fact that this is a black-owned small business, making its own ice cream! That is commendable!Unfortunately, the customer experience and the quality of the product just didn't quite hit the mark for me. The establishment itself is very well kept and clean. But when I got into line, I found myself looking around for a menu. There were big TV screens on the wall, but they only displayed a few flavors. There were clearly many different flavors of ice cream in the cabinet, but the flavors were not labeled on the glass or anything. It took a lot of head scratching until we finally got to the front of the line and learned that the menu was on a little placard that had a link you were supposed to scan. This leaves you with little time to make a decision, with a long line forming behind you.In the end, I picked the strawberry Oreo ice cream and my partner got the bourbon butter pecan. The texture of the ice cream was a bit icy--not a ton of cream in the ice cream, seems more milk-based. The flavors were also off for me--the strawberry flavor tasted artificial, the bourbon butter pecan was slightly better but it was also pretty average for me.Maybe I didn't pick the right flavors. And I did enjoy visiting a part of the city that I normally don't get to see. But I would recommend improving the menu visibility for a less confusing customer experience.

OMG when I say this place is great for a any day weather,. As I walked in everyone was welcoming, to see a place where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream was cozy. Shawn's ice cream menu shocked me because it has vegan ice cream just as it say on google,. My social media team and I really enjoy the taste test where we got a chance to test everything we choose , my favorite part. The cashier and the workers were great to us.. I love every bit of the vegan ice cream.. If you need to stay cool on a hot day and you are a vegan Shawn Michelle's homemade Ice Cream is the place to be

My girl Deja helped me pick out which flavors to try. Banana pudding ice cream is my new fave. Praline & Cream is my old faithful, though.Shawn Michelle's is always clean and the staff are always so sweet. Make sure you subscribe to them so they can give you a birthday reward. Go Capricorns

Pretty good ice cream. They have a really nice interior, and that really takes the cake! Err, ice cream. Decent stuff, not bad, nothing I'd travel too far from ever again. Village Creamery in Skokie, MilkHouse in Pingree grove are my tops in Illinois. Still looking for a not so distant 3rd, and this isn't it.

Always want to support black businesses and I've heard nothing but great things about Shawn Michelle's. The inside decor is so darn pretty and inviting. And the smell of ice cream and desserts is INTOXICATING! Each of the staff on the front lines were all very nice and greeted everyone with positive vibes. Quite a few delicious flavors of ice cream are available which made the choice difficult. I tried the strawberry cheesecake in a cup. The ice cream texture/consitency was perfect and the flavor was spot on. Absolutely delish. Shawn Michelle's is a gem and I hope more locations open up across the city. I am excited to go back to try more flavors.

We discovered Shawn Michelle's on the recommendation of the Chicago Brick Tours guide after the Bronzeville tour. It's fantastic! Huge portions of cobbler, many unusual flavors of ice cream, and a shining, happy decor in this great corner location. Need to go back soon to check out the bean pie options!

I visited the Olympia Fields location and was greeted my Cheyenne Smith. she opened the door for us and was immediately welcomed by Erica. She was so mature and patient I thought she was the owner. Erica did everything she could do to be accommodating. Their commitment to customer service is impeccable and the ice cream is phenomena!

I came here once before and had an amazing experience, even though I thought the ice cream was a bit overpriced. But, I lived the fact that it was a Black business and pretty close to me in Bronzeville.That being said, the second time I came around was awful. My friend and I came around 6 o clock and about half of the menu was sold out. Even the CONES. The servers were pretty impatient when we ask to taste a couple of samples, rolled their eyes and said something under their breath when we asked for whipped cream, and didn't even have the nerve to repeat what they said, even though we were willing to pay. The ice cream is pretty good, but God, the service could definitely be better.
