Shawarmaati

Oh wow! I've been looking hard for some authentic Mediterranean food ever since I moved to the States and I think Shawarmaati definitely ranks high among the better Mediterranean establishments I've eaten at. The marinade and seasoning on the chicken shawarma was authentic, which I deeply appreciated. As for the wrap's bread I would much prefer regular Arabic pita bread, but that's just my own personal preference. What really stood out to me were the items that are cooked on the open char just like in the homeland. I'm talking about the kafta and the lamb kabobs that I tried. Personally I would've preferred a bit more parsley in the kafta, but Lord have mercy it was juicy and packed with flavor. Dip that and some crispy fries in their real-deal hummus and mmmm. The lamb kabobs were quite delicious too! Definitely an item to gorge on with fries and hummus. I'd love to try their beef shawarma sandwich and charcoal-grilled chicken next. Give this place a try, it's really good!

It was our first time, we were close to this place and ended up eating at this place We added the veggie platter, falafel sandwich and a wrap, the veggie platter had a cheese samosa which had the smell of having fried in an old oil or a multiple times / days kind of used oil smell. The hummus was decent, baba Ghanoush could have been better, they forgot the sandwich and had to ask for it and then get it, but that was not an issue there, the kids in the kitchen added too much balsamic vinegar or some kind of dressing that was black in color to the salad and it was so overwhelming with the raw tomatoes and the unbelievable amount of the salad dressing being poured, so that we couldn't eat as well, on top of all this a veggie platter was $17, the food is expensive for the quality of ingredients that they serve/ use. Food ain't delicious, and it's not fresh, the tables and floor looked like they haven't cleaned it up in days. I had to clean up my table before sitting there, the whole floor underneath my table and the other tables as well was full of food crumbles, for a few falafels and 5 to 6 tbsp of hummus I ended up paying $40 to have the food in an unclean environment, never coming back.

Congrats on the soft opening SHAWARMAATI team.(Also friendly staff as well, I can see they're working hard!)Right away, I'd like to say it's cool to see more Mediterranean restaurants opening up in Gilbert, and in Phoenix in general.I'll start with the pros:-Nice potential ambiance (I hope to see pictures, paintings, stocked shelves in the future.-Like I said earlier, great staff. They're friendly and very hospitable.-Vast selection of food-It's good you have decent bathrooms-Good you are not supporting Coke products-Fries are delicious However I do have some concerns:-The wait times have to be addressed (I would suggest hiring a wait staff)-I ordered a gyro plate, the meat wasn't consistently cooked and seasoned/flavored (some pieces cooked like crispy bacon, some too thin. Definitely need more of that traditional gyro flavor (it's almost there!)-You HAVE to include tzatziki with gyro platters. I had to go ask for some, which I don't mind, but if you reference the "veteran" shops in the valley. That is a must for them. (That, and/or a house Garlic sauce..."Toum" in Lebanese restaurants)-Our chicken shawarma order came with fries instead of the requested rice (no biggy, y'all seemed to be very busy it happens, and honestly did not want to wait longer)-The chicken was dry, and needed more flavor.-Also I would recommend wearing hair caps, you don't want to get complaints and/or into legal issues with that. Also hair in food that isn't yours is never a good look. Overall, cool to see a new spot open up in the valley, and wish you the best of luck on the endeavor! Welcome to Phoenix SHAWARMAATI !

There are a lot of restaurants that don't transfer their awesome qualities in a "to go" order, it's a calculated risk patrons take. In this family run business, our risk paid off deliciously. Mediterranean menus are daunting and I am the least educated on this flavor platform, but my gosh, if you love good food, beautiful flavors and healthy eating, put this place on your happy map!We are making more thoughtful choices in our food these days with our fitness, health and just wanting to feel good- the hummus alone, was a reason to keep coming back! The meats are all sumptuous the salads, fresh, breads, perfectly done rice, we ordered many items to try, check pics!

FOOD WAS AMAZING. Bella was so hospitable, her service was above and beyond! Best Arabic food in the valley!!

Got the Shawarmaati Platter, which was big enough to share with my wife. The lamb, chicken and kebab were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The hummus and fattouch were really good too. Would come again!

My wife and I went for dinner this last Saturday and absolutely loved it! Food was amazing, so nice to have Mediterranean options coming to Gilbert. I had the kebab platter, the fettoush salad and my wife got a chicken wrap. All delicious. I do agree with other reviewers, tahini sauce should come with these plates. (I had to ask for it)Service was decent- everyone was nice but seemed stressed- but it was incredibly busy! I know that with time they will become more efficient with their service. Again, so nice to have something other than burgers, pizza, and Mexican food in Gilbert!!

I love Mediterranean food and this was so disappointing. Walking up to the counter, the person at the register appeared to be uncomfortable. I asked if there were any wheat/gluten ingredients in the meat marinade or seasoning, as I have a gluten intolerance, and they looked at me like I said something crazy. After telling me that the wraps have wheat in them (yes, I am aware), they finally asked another person in the back and they confirmed no. Luckily I had checked this yelp page and the menu prior to going, so I knew to ask for no pita bread or the fried pita chips that they put on the salad when ordering the Mixed Shawarma platter. While waiting, I noticed at least two other parties of people that had issues with their food, one party returning their food for a refund and leaving. Approximately 35 minutes later our food was ready. As my husband went up to the counter they were plating the food and he had to stop them from putting the pita bread on my plate. Upon inspection there were fried pita chips in my salad. Of course. They were busy and I was honestly a bit over it at that point, so I just removed the salad from the plate and didn't eat it. The food overall was not good. The chicken and the beef were both very dry and had a ton of seasoning, yet zero salt in that seasoning. It was odd. Obviously they are not tasting the food that they are serving. The rice was ok, but a bit bland as well. The hummus tasted fine. I ate a few bites of the chicken, rice and hummus, but eventually threw it all away. My husband had the Chicken Shawarma wrap and said it was ok. He didn't like that it should have had lettuce, but cabbage was used instead. This restaurant could be much better. It was exciting to see a new and different food option in the area, and I can see the potential, but I will not be returning.

This is the Beef Shawarma plate, sooooooo delicious. The hummus and the salad were just perfect. I love how they take the time to prepare the food for you and the service was great. The Ambiance of the place reminds me of an upscale version of pita jungle but smaller.
