I appreciate that even though I arrived at 230pm when they close at 3pm, they still welcomed me and served me without hesitation even though the restaurant wasn't busy. This gave me the opportunity to try their 'big wontons and bone soup. It was tasty and happy to report to fellow yelper, Emmett, that they put greens in the soup now too; they asked me for preference. The wontons were delicious. If you want to keep the lunch bill under $20, don't order a drink. My server was nice and welcoming.I enjoyed their spicy chili oil and black vinegar too.I think at night this becomes King Bistro ( which I have yet to try), all you can eat. But at Lunch, it's Shanghai Alley

Decent food in an unassuming spot. Everything felt very "bare bones". The place was spacious and there's lots of parking in the back parking lot. Food was okay but I expected more.Veggie Wontons with Bone Broth: The broth is tasty but the wontons were lacking. I don't think there's any meat in this and just veggies. I looked at the menu again and I guess it DOESN'T say it comes with meat so they're not wrong. But I was a little surprised.Beef Noodle Soup: Noodles were really tasty, the beef was good too but there were only 4 small pieces. The broth is good (not the same style as the sweet/savory broth I'm using to.)

King Bistro in Clairemont has shared its space with Shanghai Alley which operates from 10 am to 3 pm on six days of the week (closed on Tuesday). Behind the building was a dedicated parking lot shared with neighboring businesses. Out front was a covered patio that had a setup at each table for cooking skewered meats over a grill. The inside had about a dozen tables for on-site dining.A large chalkboard menu was placed on the ground in front of the service counter. The left column listed three appetizers and a set of extra toppings for the featured item which was a signature noodle soup. There were about seven varieties of noodle soup and then the remainder of the menu was made up of wontons, dumplings, scallion oil noodles, and Shanghai style veggie rice. My selection was the Big Wonton with Bone Soup that had eight pieces immersed in the broth.I thought that noodles and/or a leafy green vegetable would be included because everywhere else that I have eaten wonton soup, one of those was a standard ingredient in the bowl. Here at Shanghai Alley, you got exactly what it said... Big Wontons (8) and Bone Soup. The broth was light and did not contain MSG which was positive. The wonton size and quality were decent. It seemed that another component could have been added for the $13.99 price.

Scallion oil dry noodles are not bad. It tastes a bit salty to me. Pork feet noodles are good but it has only 3 pieces of meat. I like the mini wonton. Service is decent. Ambiance is fine. I like the fact that it has more than 10 parking spaces in the back of the building. If the food becomes more affordable, I may return more often.

Food is tasty, not too salty. Portions are good, you will feel full but not like you are going to explode. The waitress is very friendly and wait for food is very short. Very chill place. Would recommend :)

We ordered 3 dishes . 1) scallion oil dry noodle . Absolutely no scallion flavor at all , it's basically boiled plain noodle with raw soy sauce . Noodles are over cooked sticked together . Ordered extra egg topping, was served mins later and over cooked 2) pickle cabbage noodle soup . Soup was somewhat warm , everything is plain , I get grossed out by stale taste halfway eating . 3) soup dumplings, yea store bought frozen ones , don't even come with ginger. Chili oil and vinegar containers are pretty dirty . First and last time here .
