My favorite restaurant in Seattle hands-down. I've been there 3 times this month already and every flavor hits the spot. The quality of food you get with the price is quite crazy. There always 5+ shrimp and scallops in the orders we get.Boss, the owner is also one of the friendliest people I've met. He walks around and checks in with his customers. There's some indoor and outdoor seatings but they're very packed on the weekends so try and go early or on the weekdays if you can. Tom yum shrimp (my fav) Hokkaido scallop Thai meatball (my fav) Blue crab garlic Youtiao fried dough (definitely get this)

Super busy during lunch hours on a Sunday. Come early if you're looking for indoor seating. They have outdoor seating for bigger groups.Beef and Kimchi Congee ($16)Spicy Tom Yum Shrimp Congee ($19) - Spicy but so flavorful!Sea Bass & Chinese Herbs Congee ($25) - This was very bland. Not worth $25.Youtiao Crispy Fried Dough ($4) - This is a must with congee!

WOW! The pork belly congee was delicious! If it is your first time here, I highly recommend the pork belly. It was so juicy and falls apart in your mouth. I always get congee with chinese donuts so that is a MUST! I will say they are always pretty busy. I wish they had more of a streamline waiting system because everyone just waits outside until they can be seated but there is no actual waitlist. So it is somewhat on an honesty rule and expect that no one says they were here before you. That was somewhat frustrating because we were seated after some people who got there after us. This restaurant is super small and its not really a place I would suggest if you want a long sit down breakfast. I think the expectation is like moist congee places where it is sit down, eat, go. No chit chat. Especially when it is on a busy day. I wouldn't suggest here if you are going with a group larger than 4 because it is difficult for the staff to sit you in a timely manner. There is a small parking lot for parking but there is street parking. So I recommend carpooling to this restaurant if you are going with a group for friends. It was a nice experience to try Secret Congee but there are a lot of other congee places to try in Seattle.

Finally got to try Secret Congee earlier this year and it was totally worth the hype! Even though there was a little bit of a line, it moved pretty quick! Service was really good, all the workers were very friendly and helpful. I got the tomyum congee while my boyfriend got beef and kimchi. Both were super delicious but I definitely love the uniqueness of the tomyum congee! There were huge juicy shrimps and the congee paired well with the you tiao! Can't wait to come back the next time I'm in Seattle! Highly recommend Secret Congee if you're looking for a yummy home cooked tasting meal with a twist.

We learned about this place on TV's Evening Show and decided to visit. Today was a Sunday morning and they opened at 9am, so my hubby and I came in a hurry, but there weren't many seats, so we decided to take out and eat in my car.We ordered Classic Chicken Congee $13 and Thai Meatballs Congee $14, also add 2 of soft boiled eggs each $2 and fried dough $4. We got a number plate and needed 25 mins waiting time. So we went to a nearby coffee shop. We returned to the store 25 mins later and had to wait another 25 mins. It was crowded, probably because it was a cold Sunday morning. If you come here, you should be prepared to wait quite a while. And since seats are limited, you often have no choice but to order takeout. The Congee soothed my frustration, but I wasn't happy about having to pay a tip and wait an hour for takeout.

At first, I was skeptical when my friends wanted to come here because...it's just congee? Around $20/bowl no less. I'm glad they forced me to come because the congee is really good and I want to come back to try their other flavors. We got the Hokkaido scallops and crab. Both were super flavorful and unique! Adding fried doughnut and century egg on the side made it more wholesome. This is actually quite filling and made me full the entire day. You seat yourself if you want to dine in! I think most people eat pretty fast here. We came on a Sunday and were able to find seating for a group of 3 within 5 minutes of waiting. Lots of available parking nearby, which is a plus in Seattle!

It's my new favorite place in Seattle Located north of Downtown, this establishment is bit away from the crowds. A hole in the wall with fantastic personality, service and taste of the country. Since they only have 6 small tables inside I recommend getting here early if you want table inside. AService is fantastic. Only 1 server but not only is she hard working but she is helpful and sweet as any other place. My counterpart got the Tom Yom Souo. Tom Yum Congee was fabulous. I guess pork belly congee is the best but they run out of it early most of the time. When I asked the server for a surprise congee of her choosing, she ended up giving me Lamb meatball congee. It was fabulous. Very subtle in taste but very reminiscent of grand ma's congeeBased in their taste and quality of food, I highly doubt they will be called Secret Congee for long.

This is a whole new take on congee and I'm here for it. Well, I myself love the standard rice porridge with chicken and ginger. I got a chance to try the Tom yum and sea bass. We were hoping to try the lamb shank and unfortunately they run out. This is a lot of food for one person especially if you pair with their fried donuts. I would advise you get here early on the weekends, especially if you want to snag a table. There are a few indoor outdoor options. My husband and I chose to sit outdoors due to availability but with the humid weather and the hot soup it was a perfect combo. My lactose, intolerant people they do have milk alternatives if you do get their tight iced tea.

The secret is out that Secret Congee is the best congee restaurant in Seattle. The new location in Ballard is right along the bay and in a cozy spot alongside the dock. I got the beef and kimchi congee but am excited to come and try all their other congees as well. FoodThe beef and kimchi congee was excellent and I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try Korean flavors in their congee. I'm pretty sure the congee is all the same but has different toppings to create new flavors. The congee was very good and a great consistency. It was not too salty either and you are able to add in soy sauce to your liking. The beef was good and there was a good amount of meat. The kimchi was good as well and not too sour. The Chinese donuts are a perfect side to pair with your congee. Definitely dip it in your congee soup! AtmosphereThe Ballard location is along the water and docks. The inside of the restaurant is very cozy with plenty of natural lighting and can seat about 10 people in total. Otherwise there are some tables outside that could seat about another 10 people. On a summer day, the outside would be very nice! The noise level is not too loud. The seats were not very comfortable but this is a very casual place that I would not sit down and eat for an extended period of time. PricingThe congee prices were average to slightly above average compared to other places that service congee. The food quality justified the prices and I would happily come again. ServiceService was excellent and I was not expecting so much hospitality. My group of about 10 people sat outside and the staff helped us pull our table together. They brought out all of our food and also brought out extra soy sauce. Staff was very friendly. OtherThere is street parking alongside the road as well as a parking lot next to the restaurant.

Nothing's better than a hot bowl of congee on a rainy day!We had the opportunity to visit Secret Congee in Ballard to try some of their specialty congee dishes. We went with the:- Sea Bass & Chinese Herbs Congee - The fish was so tender and I loved the surprising sweetness from the goji berries- Thai Meatball Congee - This was recommended as the classic congee and the flavor of the pork meatballs was great- Youtiao Crispy Fried Dough - Can't have congee without fried dough on the side! You can have it savory with the the congee or sweet with condensed milk. They have both dining in and to-go options, so you can enjoy your congee in whatever way you want. We also appreciated that there was plenty of parking next to the restaurant as well. We'll definitely be back to try more of their menu next time!
