We had a reservation outside on the back patio and tried all of their flights in our party because we hadn't been before. Quite a few good choices for all different tastes. Their cheese board was surprisingly good and we tried the wine chips but wouldn't recommend them . The service was stellar and we are planning to return next time we're in the area. They have a tasting room on Main Street that would be worth visiting if you don't have a car but I don't believe it's dog friendly."

He was very attentive and was able to explain the red wine flights we tasted. The decor was St. Patrick's day themed and all the staff were wearing green leprechaun hats. It was a nice laid back time, and it wasn't very busy. Our favorite was the Merlot, which was nice and fruity, and medium bodied."

Aunt Lee was a big hit and we ended up ordering a bottle of that one as well as some of the other reserve wines.Inside was good though the stools were a little high for some of the tables for some reason. They were moving spaces though so it'll be worth making a visit to the new space. We really enjoyed this one; nice location, nice people and great wine. Great way to spend an afternoon."

It's an old building and old winery that was once a top notch spot on the map. If nothing else it deserves respect for still being around! A lovely lady greeted us when we arrived, she's been there 40 years and pulls no punches! She knows her stuff and is very matter of fact! Some folks don't like that but we don't mind, we found her super interesting and knowledgeable. She's got stories and was very interested in ours as well. They have a great mix of wines from all over the old world and the new, with plenty of west coast US selections. It's a large space, with a long ramp down into the main shop. You see wooden cases of tons of interesting reds, including what seem to be some very nice specialty items. Up front are tons of signs, tableware, utensils, and glasses appropriate for every style. Really a gorgeous selection. We poked around and found some nice WA bottles, and the owner was super helpful and well-informed, very graciously guiding us through some pretty general questions about what was interesting in the shop.Although the focus on tastings here seems a bit less than some other shops in the area, I will definitely be back when I need a nice bottle, especially old world stuff."

This wine would pair well with dark chocolate or steak, lamb or pasta. Samantha Z. "I absolutely love this place. My friends and I decided to head to Ginkgo Forest Winery last night to blow off some work-related steam. I'm so glad we did because I can't say enough great things about it.First, the tasting room is super easy to find and not far from the water. The tasting room itself was really warm and cozy inside. There are several tables to choose from. You can also stand at the tasting bar.The best part of this place has to be the man (whose name I've forgotten) who served us last night. It was probably one of the best tastings I've done in a very long time. First, he was extremely knowledgeable and really took the time to explain each tasting. With that said, his descriptions were the perfect length. That is, enough detail to be entertaining, but not too long that I got bored. The way the tasting works is that they let you taste a variety of wines (reserve, red, white, and dessert) for $6. The nice thing is that for every bottle of wine you buy, a tasting gets comped (meaning the tasting is free). There are a lot of wines to choose from for the tasting (20+). The only caveat is that because they have so many wines, only some are available for tasting at any given time. This was totally fine with me, and also means that they rotate their tastings. In addition to great staff, I was also so impressed with the wines here. They have SO many different wines. They even have ports (which are my absolute favorite). I love that they grow all of their own grapes, which I'm learning is becoming rarer and rarer these days (especially when a place offers so many different types of wine). We tried several wines last night and there wasn't a bad one to be had. Although all were really good, we went with the Rose ($16), which was very unique. I also loved that it wasn't too sweet. In addition to the Rose, I also bought 2 bottles of some ports (the Syrah and the blueberry). Some final notes. First, this place is dog friendly. They even gave my dog a bowl of water, which was nice. Second, they have very limited food options (e.g., cheese plate). However, you can bring in your own food, which is awesome! In sum, a great find in Tacoma. I would highly recommend it."

I was very excited when I heard that another winery is joining the Seattle Urban Winery crew, particularly on the south/south-west end. Welcome Road Tasting Room appears to be the first business to open up in the new Rally Townhouse development off California Ave SW. Owners Leigh and Kristen were very welcoming, even with the large amount of customers and dogs who fit into the small shop. The space is very small with no seating except for on the outside patio shared with the sidewalk. Decor consists of a pair of skis, a faux fireplace and alpine-themed images. They charged a $5 tasting fee (refunded with a bottle purchase). Prices very from $16-$34 a bottle. All of us were unfortunately underwhelmed with the wines--this happened to be our first stop of the day too with fresh palates. The wines tasted quite young. Give the vintages another 2 years and they could become something good. If we were to pick our favorites, they would be the 2013 Malbec and 2012 Atelier, of course the older pours. While I wouldn't say the wines were horrible, they are truly among big competition and talent in the area.Their Roadies Wine Club does have some nice perks including:- Free enrollment- 2 wine allotments per year of 4 bottles each; with free Seattle delivery- 15% discount on bottles; 20% on cases- Free tastings for you and 3 guests- Free Roadies-only parties - Swag - including our popular travel dog bowl- Use of the Wine Room for events (with wine purchase)Welcome Road definitely caters to any and all local families with pooches. Conner J. "We have been to about 60 wineries at this point and this goes down as one of the best designs (especially for a small indoor setting). Many wineries have a theme that they half hardily lean into by having similar wine names, glacier really works their theme (hiking/backpacking) well to a quite impressive degree. While they have the typical theme ideas such as wine names and pictures matching their theme, they also have their entire design to match: they have a gorgeous hand crafted wood and polymer table with well lit rocks below, geo maps as an accent wallpaper, mountain distance signs, and coolest of all backpacking meal wine pairing suggestions. I think atmosphere makes a big difference when enjoying wine which is why I am emphasizing their attention to goof design and theme. The wine itself had a good nose to it with floral fresh and fruity smell that was reminiscent of the trails on their bottle. While I was not drinking that day, those who were seemed to really enjoy it. If you are into hiking (and let's face it, aren't we all), and enjoy a good wine for your trip, this is the place to get it."

Located on the Woodinville-Redmond road, walking distance to the Hollywood District, I'm glad to enjoy my favorite wines not far from home. They do not take reservations, so a few of us visited on a Sunday afternoon, and were able to get a table in the back patio. At this time, they only allow outdoor seating. Even though there was only an hour left until closing, there were still a few groups here. Parking was easy, as they have space on their gravel lot right next to the entrance. We all did a tasting, which included six tastings, which you get to choose from. I had the sparkling rose and four reds. The cabernet sauvignon is one of my favorite red wines! For something full-bodied and savory, but seems to go with everything, their cab sauv hits all the notes. Tom B. "In shortA big new space in the converted old brewery. Fantastic wine. Not exactly cheap, but fantastic without a doubt. In longI can remember when this building went up as a brewery. In the 90s, it was a great sign for the coming craft-beer revolution. An independent brewhouse reaching this scale? It was exciting!Well, the industrial breweries have made more and more offers that the little guys couldn't refuse, so many little guys have semi-disappeared from the beer world, and this big space is now chopped up to share among many local wineries. Thankfully, pretty much everybody on this campus makes very good wine.Mark Ryan is sort of out front, but parking's around back, so you're kind of driving past everybody to get here, anyway. It's a big building, and even with just a part of it, MR has a huge space. Most winery (and brewery) tasting rooms can be laid out in funky, fun ways, because they're trying to scrape together enough room for the public to come bend an elbow. Not here. You walk in to a huge foyer, with high ceilings, lots of framed concert posters, and little dibs and dabs of seating here and there. Dark walls. Concrete floors. Well lit, but feels like you entered sort of a secret space. Or maybe it's so minimalist that it's not obvious about what it's doing. It's welcoming and cheerful despite the colors and minimalism. And maybe it seems less than obvious only because most winery tasting rooms seem the same (old barrels, vineyard photos, inexpensive furniture, etc) , and this one dares to look different. It seems to be entirely focused on retail and tasting. No production or aging happening that you can see. The staff are super friendly, and as you walk through to the cavernous main room they're already asking what you're up to today and what you'd like. You can get flights of the more everyday wines MR makes, or of the fancier stuff. Yesterday 5 tastes of each were $35 and $45, respectively. With tax, that's $88 for about 3 glasses' worth of wine, combined. To me, the value for this is there, because you're getting tastes of wine that all cost in the $50-100 range per bottle, so you can be certain of which ones are worth their bottle cost. If you buy a minimum amount they refund the flight fees. So it's much like any other winery tasting room's M.O., just at a higher price point. We came home with chardonnay bottles and syrah bottles--each was among the best examples we've had of those styles. Aside from tons of concert posters and photos framed on the walls, there are also vintage motorcycles parked around the tasting room. MR has multiple wines named for Pearl Jam songs, along with a whole sub-brand named for old cycles (Board Track Racer). More than most wineries, MR does a good job putting memorable names on their bottles, which makes it easy to keep track of them all. This is an especially good thing given that they have 5 different brands with different label/naming personalities, price points, and wine character. In the end, this is an easy place to come ask tons of questions and learn a lot about many different wines. They do have snacks, and of course plenty of bottles available to go. It's not quite a neighborhood watering hole but you do feel comfortable hanging out here and savoring everything, even if it takes a little while. You could easily hop from room to room around this complex and make an entire day's wine country "tour" out of it...provided someone else is driving you home. Highly recommended."

Elisabeth P. "We stopped in here after getting our Washington wine pass and enjoyed two complimentary tastings per pass! The tastings (usually $10.00 and including 6 wines) had our favorite tasting of the day so we were pretty pleased we stopped by. The tasting room is pretty small with a few barrel 'tables' with standing room and a bar at one side. They had a few other couples in there enjoying tastings and I overheard the man and woman pouring tell them that they are in the middle of moving to a new larger tasting room somewhere. It took quite a while to get all our tastings in, which usually would be fine except there wasn't sitting room and really wasn't anything to look at to keep us occupied. Would have been nice to have some light snack options too. We tried a variety of white, rose, and reds, most of which were pretty solid. The Sangiovese was without a doubt the tastiest of the sampling. All in all one cannot complain when being offered free wine and especially tasty wine. I look forward to seeing their new and improved tasting room in the future."
