I am going to keep this quick as possible. I say that every time before being long winded, but going to try and keep it short and hope my family doesnt see this one.I have been to this place and sooooo many other Japanese Steak houses. My family absolutely adores them. I dont know why they love them so much, but dangit they do. They love Japanese Steak houses. Now I dont hate Japanese steak houses, they are just not my favorite. They are always fun. The food is always at least decent. The issue and honestly the only issue I have is the price. We got two meals Chicken Yakisoba and steak and shrimp, upgraded to fried rice for both. Both meals were pretty solid, but at the end of the meal we spent $71.00. We didnt get drinks. We didnt order apps. The total of the meal is $71 with added tip. Its just too much. I know you are paying for the experience, but I will never leave a Japanese steak or honestly a normal American Steak house feeling happy I just spent the money I did. I dont blame them and I am not unhappy with them, its just not my style. I dont like spending too much on any experience with food. My family has tried many times over to convince me a great steak from a steak house even if it costs $100 is worth it. It will never be the case for me. Give me a $20-30 tritip and my smoker any day to a steak house.I am giving it a 3 but honestly it all depends on your comfort with food costing that much. Its nothing I will ever be happy with. So take this with a grain of salt. Its better than my rating, but my experience will always be meh when I get charged this price.

Went to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday and we loved the food and service. I went on a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. Parking was easy to find and everyone there was friendly. We thought the food was delicious.

Extraordinary meal! My daughter and I stopped by spontaneous today to celebrate her upcoming high school graduation. We had heard how good the food was and were excited to give it a try. Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed our meal and the company of two other families with whom we shared the table. It was absolutely fantastic in every way. Our table ending up sharing double lobster, Rib Eye, Filet Mignon, razor clams, calamari, veggies, Japanese "gummies" (our chef's signature dish) and much more. The food keeps on coming with each dish topping the next in deliciousness. It took us 7 years to finally come in, and now we know we were missing the best restaurant experience in Federal Way. We plan to bring our entire family soon. Our fantastic chef "the Young Looking Guy" took care to make everything to perfection...It was so tasty! Thank you to C, B and L for celebrating my daughter's accomplishment and being so very gracious. Thank you to the hard working wait staff for making the evening a special show with "fireworks" and drums! Just amazing! This was a six star experience without question.

Food was great but our bill had an extra side of jumbo lobster added for $100. They removed, but our party of 6 did eat a lot but to try to add another $100 to an already added 18% service charge for having 6 people. PSA..always check your charge breakdown.

Very overpriced and the bar tender was very rude while waiting for a table . Double check your bill , they add like 20 % gratuity and the food was not that good ! We will not be back

Despite the bad reviews on Yelp, a friend and I had lunch this afternoon. We work downtown and have had many many Hanamasu (fka Benihana) lunches back in the day. I ordered the steak and chicken combination to bring back memories of Rocky's Choice. Tokyo has plain white plates and a napkin wrapped fork vs Japanese dinnerware and chopsticks. Tokyo starts you off with a clear broth which includes two thinly sliced mushrooms. Didn't spring for the upcharge fried rice because I love the ginger sauce at teppanyaki restaurants. Since no salad nor hibachi shrimp appetizer came with lunch, I added a side of shrimp. Sauces are served in little plastic cups vs ashtray sized vessels. The ginger sauce was like a cornstarch thickened teriyaki sauce and was a disappointment. Food was prepared pretty standard - chef read the table and we didn't need the production, but rather just wanted to eat.Our consensus: it was good, but sauces were disappointing.

One of our fave place for filet mignon. Food is always great. Came here for dinner on Saturday & it was a full house at 5pm! I wish they would open for lunch during weekdays.

Ambience..it's always a great time being seated next to strangers, especially kids who haven't experienced tepanyaki style service. To see their eyes go wide as the chefs light up the grill. Such a fun, interactive experience. This was our second time here in the past few weeks, we actually had reservations at another steak place and canceled last minute to come here, not a mistake. James was our chef and was fun and entertaining the whole experience through. I had filet and lobster, honestly one of the best lobsters I've had. The butter and citrus to finish was chef kiss! And the filet, ordered medium, was cooked absolutely to perfection. If you are looking for a show AND delicious steak, seafood cooked to perfection, look no farther than here. *only side note, they are working on timed tables to accommodate parties together at each grill so keep that in mind, smaller parties are set next to strangers, but isn't that half the fun? To experience a food being cooked communal and meeting new people.

Not the best check-in and wait experience. First timers and we gave our name/party size and the hostess told us to find a seat in "the back." We found our seat for a 6pm reservation and it was until 6:30pm we asked if we were missed and she said the other hostess added us as a "no show" so we didn't up being seated until 6:50pm and didn't get our orders taken until 7:10pm. It was an honest mistake on the hostess but I wish there was an easier way for them to see who has been waiting a while, rather than throwing us all in "the back" to wait on our tables.

Only reason it has 1 start is because i couldn't put 0. I have never left a review before but this place was so terrible i had no choice. The fact this place has customers is crazy, i have never ate at a habachi restaurant with no flavor. They only seasoning they use is salt n pepper the food was so bland. The yum yum sauce im convinced is orange colored mayonnaise. Then they have the audacity to charge an extra $6 for fried rice that is just eggs n onion. Not to mention they don't have teriyaki sauce???? How you habachi with no teriyaki?? I wouldn't even food this food to my dog . The only upside was the free ice cream at the end and the miso soup.
