"Thanks to Field To Table for introducing us to another great local establishment, Where Ya At Matt is a great find. The name is really befitting as you have to check FB/IG to identify the location and operating hours. Once you've located the truck don't let the line discourage your wait as the service is efficient and wait time is minimal.Huge kudos for offering vegetarian options, especially the red beans and rice (it's nearly impossible to find vegetarian Cajun style anything and especially the red beans and rice dish.) My husband really enjoyed his shrimp poboy and shrimp/grits. The beignets are the REAL deal, a must order to enjoy with a great cup of coffee. We will definitely return, and highly recommend!!"
"Oohhh, if you want some good ol' catfish this is where to go! I had seen many recommendations online to check this place out so I had to! The restaurant appears to look new or maybe it is just well maintained. It is a large space. When we arrived, there were a few people in line. We ordered the captain's platter, corn bread, rice and beans, greens, and sweet iced tea. Pricing was such a deal! They accept cash or Cash App. The employees were very friendly. We received our food and wow! Everything was delicious! The batter they use is excellent! The greens were cooked to perfection. I thought it was going to be salty. Rice and beans are simple, but theirs is really good. For fried foods, it wasn't so oily. The dipping sauce was also tasty.Highly recommend if in Seattle!"
"It gets crazy busy here at dinner so prepare for a minimum 1 hour wait. The hotpot entrees are massive, one order is easily enough for 4 people. Be warned, if the menu indicates spicy, it is spicy! They come out boiling hot perfect.Banchan ~ fresh and good enough selection. Service was attentive and quick on the refills. Standard Korean beer & Makgeolli ~ pricey but a must with Korean food. No need to wear your Sunday best if you come peak dining ~ your clothes & breath will come out smelling like gochujang ;)"
"The three stars are because this place is definitely A-OK but for my husband and I it is a bit forgettable. If you're in the area and want quality food that is definitely good, sure, this is your place. The lady who served/cooked us was super nice too. There is no indoor seating, only outside or to go. Drinks selections are canned or glass bottle. Prices are kind of steep for the area tbh. Our whole meal was $60+ but again, you're patronizing a locally owned business so that's a plus.Food: my catfish was fine, unseasoned, and it's pretty much on par with other soul food places in Tacoma, such as Pacific Southern Kitchen. Fries were good but unseasoned. The fried chicken was definitely different in that the coating was super thin and unseasoned. See the trend here? The potato salad was nice, very mustardy but that's all I could get out of it. Corn bread was fine, kind of low-key, very forgettable. Honestly, I prefer the buttered biscuit's. Finally, the Mac n cheese was the star. The consistency and cheesiness was great...but??? You guessed it! Unseasoned. Overall, quality food, very under seasoned if not unseasoned at all, with a very nice lady working everything, but we have had better."
"This may be my new favorite Seattle restaurant. Yeah, I know I am late to the party, but I am here now. And I can't think of any other place in town with the super positive vibe of this place and this kind of of excellence in food at the same time.On that vibe: friendly, classy, and never pretentious employees at every turn. These are genuine humans, being themselves and clearly loving life and what they do here at COMMUNION. It's like being at the absolute best dinner party on the planet with the most amazing people who serve you great food and drinks. And that food. OMG. Exceptional take on soul with clear northwest influences that chef and owner Kristi Brown calls "Seattle Soul." Bring it on. Every single dish I tried here was superb and soul-satisfying in the deepest way. As was the beautiful mocktail made at the copper top bar. The decor, layout, and feel of the place are warm, inviting, upbeat, and "welcome home" in nature. It's no wonder this place has garnered exceptionally high praise. Condé Nast named it one of the 12 best new restaurants in the world in 2021. The New York Times put it in its 2021 "50 places in America we are most excited about right now." And James Beard has come calling with award nominations (this place deserves a WIN!).Reservations have become a little easier to come by now. If you haven't experienced COMMUNION, it's time! If I lived closer, I'd be in here all the time."
"Not all Ezell's are created equal. Since Ezell's Chicken franchised, some locations have been serving better quality fried chicken over others. This Factoria location is on the better side of my statement. We normally get gizzards here and they're always consistent. The half and half gizzards are perfectly chewy, well seasoned and not salty, and they seem to be prepared faster than other locations.A couple nights ago, I ordered the 8-piece dinner with Dark Meat only. For some reason, the thighs were so much better than it normally was at other locations. The skin was extra crispy and the meat was juicy. The only thing that wasn't in form were their crinkle fries. Like all locations, Ezell's crinkle fries are too soggy for me. I wish it had more snap to it Maybe it's because this Ezell's is a newer location, but I like coming here if I'm craving their fried chicken. I've recently been placing my order online and my food is always ready when I step in the door or I just have to wait less than 5 minutes. It's the spot for quick fried chicken for me."
"Did an in-person order, and everything was ready fairly quickly! I got a spicy thigh and leg, as well as a roll and side of mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was above average, but nothing I'd write home about or pay extra for. The fried chicken was perfection - although it's advertised as "spicy", I'd say for me it was mildly and well-spiced. Flavorful, juicy on the inside, perfectly crispy and crackly on the outside that brought back memories of the South/NC where I'm from. Solid place, although a bit out of the way. Certainly a place to try if you want to find very good fried chicken in the Seattle area."
"Amazing, so flavorful! The catfish nuggets are my absolute favorite. This is the place to visit for southern cuisine on the Eastside! I thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails as well. My friends brought me here for my 36th birthday dinner and I loved the kick back vibe. Great food, efficient service and really delicious cocktails. I will be back. One note for improvement is the deviled eggs. With how delicious everything else was I am sure it was an off night. They didn't really taste like anything. But everything was so good I can't even call that a complaint."
"I have drove past this place for years and was always afraid to go inside based on the patrons loitering out front. Today I decided that I would venture in after recently seeing droves of Garfield High students packing in lately it can't be that scary. HOT DAMN...the deli is fabulous if you are in the market for something deep fried this is your spot! They have those Jo Jo's that they bread themselves and even though its strange I like the pricing system they got goin on .30 cents per Jo Jo I had 5 and it was more then enough the potatos were huge. The chicken looked awesome apparently they sell burritos and corn dogs too but it was after the lunch rush so they were cleared out. I will be going back. The guy and his wife running the show around here were so friendly and made sure to ask my name and told me lunch gets very busy so I gotta get in earlier for the best selection."
"We love this place! New owner is really nice, portions are huge and the food is good. Really good country fried steak. Enough food for three meals. Give them a try! Oh, don't miss the chicken and waffles."

Another stellar meal from Where Ya At Matt! I tried the fried chicken po boy and really liked it! Enjoyed how the chicken was moist and the flavors complimented each other. Think I found a good combination with the shrimp and gritz with the jambalaya (have to give props to my Dad for that idea). Decided to try a slice of pecan pie (brown sugar was a nice addition) and the king cake was nice, not too sugary but light and airy. Great work Matt, I'll be coming back to try more of your delicious food!

We came here for dinner and thought it was pretty good. Ordering was easy and the people here are nice.We ended up getting the catfish sandwich and fries. The sandwich itself was pretty big (compared to other fish sandwiches I had). I also like that he cut it in half and the packaging was sturdy and safe so it wouldn't get mushed. The sandwich itself was good. I like the lightness of the fish. The flavor came from mostly the sauce but it was tasty. The fries was ok. Not the best. It wasn't crispy but has this starchy -potato taste that I don't like. It does need a little more seasoning or you can use ketchup.Overall, pretty good place to try catfish :)

Extremely impressed with the quality of dishes, the serving size, and the prices. They do not take reservations, and we were frustrated that when we arrived at 5:55 PM they told us we would have a 30 minute wait for a group of four people on a Friday night, but it was literally 55 minutes before we were seated. We ordered the jjusami (webfoot octopus, pork belly, and veggies), LA kalbi (short ribs and onions), the vegetable & seafood pancake, and three drinks. At the end of our meal, we asked them to make us cheesy fried rice with the leftover sauce from the jjusami. After tip, we the four of us paid $42 per person. The ambiance is a casual & family style restaurant - no tablecloths, paper napkins, and most guests are wearing jeans. The biggest drawback here is the long wait times. Service was reasonable, not impressive, but not a disappointment - service was faster than at most Seattle area restaurants, but we did find ourselves, waiting to order more food and get the check at the end. I would recommend drive to Lynnwood and deal with the wait times - the Korean food was delicious and the prices were more than fair for the portion size.

THE BEST FOOD I HAVE HAD IN THIS STATE. I went here for the first time recently and I can not shut up about it. we got a rack of ribs, pulled pork, potato salad, hush puppies, and a slice of pecan pie. everything Was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender (ribs fell right off the bone) the hush puppies were the perfect balance of substantial and delicate with a complex flavor palette (the way they should be) and the potato salad was so good I bought a second to take home to enjoy with our leftovers today. The woman running the show Dee was incredibly lovely. I have not one bad thing to say about this place. We went later in the day so the were sold out of the mac and cheese but that's okay just another reason to go back again soon. Go to Serious Soul if you love yourself and food.

We walked in and they had plenty of chicken ready to serve. So we did get our order pretty fast. I went with a two-piece spicy chicken with mac & cheese and cajun fries and my man ordered 3-piece spicy chicken with crinkle fries. We also opted for 1/2lb of fried okra. First, I was really disappointed about the amount of fried okra for $6.99. It was a small container and if it was half a pound, then I guess. But this is way overpriced. I may be wrong, but the fried okra just feels like a normal frozen variety as are the crinkle fries. Definitely, get the crinkle fries with cajun seasoning because if not, your crinkles fries will lack everything - including salt. The mac and cheese - JUST NO. I took one bite and did not finish. Definitely cheesy but the flavor was just not there and would not recommend to my worst enemy. The chicken was fresh and pretty crispy. After reading other reviews - apparently, I should have ordered the gizzards but as much as I love gizzards, I was too scared I was going to be disappointed. I asked my man, if he wanted to go back any time soon and he said, "eh...maybe in like 12 months." I felt him on that. I don't see myself coming back to enjoy chicken here.

I've heard a million and one good things about this place. I love some fried chicken so why not, right?LOCATION & PARKING //It's on Lake City Way (near 145th) next to a Starbucks. It's hard to miss with its bright yellow and red exterior signs. It does have its own private lot so parking is not an issue here. The inside is quite small so you may have to sit at the few tables outside or just take it to go. FOOD //I got the three piece meal that comes with a piece of bread. It included two spicy thighs and a drumstick. It was sooooo basic and good! Everything is affordable and to the point. It was juicy, textured perfectly, and flavorful. SERVICE //I can't say much because I just ordered and got it to-go due to COVID 19. I assume the service here is good though but I don't want to say much on it.OVERALL // 4.5 starsDefinitely worth the hype! Will come back.

One of the coolest sports bars I have been to in a long time! Great location right across from the Westin in downtown Bellevue. Me and my team went here for a lunch meeting. Had aps & lunch. Apps were the gilled cauliflower, chicken wings and catfish nuggets! ALL WERE AWESOME! The nuggets were moist, tons of flavor, chicken wings were flash fried with just the right amount of seasoning, cauliflower was great, with just a small amount of spice to it! I had the smash burger....SO GOOD! Beef was seasoned great, good sear, and I paired it with the garlic fries! NOW FOR THE COOL PART. We are sitting there laughing having a good time, then RICHARD SHERMAN & CLIFF AVRIL walk in! Being a huge Seahawks fan I was geeking out but my inner voice said "Andrea don't just run over there, be cool, they are just people"...so I left them alone! I wanted to scream HEY SHERM...but that would have probably gotten me thrown out! My fiancé is such a huge Seahawks fan, he will completely lose it when I tell him about this!! GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Visit Restaurant Page"Crazy good BBQ *but* the sides are stars in and of themselves. While visiting family in the area they recommended we try Orlando's. By the time my aunt went to pick it up, they were out of their much-requested bourbon bbq sauce. If you want to try it, PRO TIP: go early. We had the ribs, macaroni and cheese, greens, candied yams, and cornbread. Man, oh, man. There are very few places in the Pacific Northwest that remind me of the barbecue joints of my former hometown of Atlanta. Orlando's is one of them. The ribs are deliciously fall-off-the-bone. They gave us two sauces: original and Mike's, which has mustard in it. We liked the original the best. Mike's was a tad too peppery for us; but if you like that peppery flavor, you'd like Mike's the best. The candied yams are to die for. The greens are well seasoned and the macaroni and cheese deserves an honorable mention. Even the cornbread is good.On a quiet Sunday it seemed like nobody was there, but that's because people were calling and ordering online. I suggest ordering in advance. We can't wait to go back and try the bourbon sauce and have a meal here again. I'm glad our family suggested Orlando's. We'll be back the next time we're in Oak Harbor!"
"Yes yes and some more yes!!! Please checkThis this place out if your looking for something yummy. I just really wanted a fried pork chip sandwich old school on a piece of white bread. Well it got that and more. Initially, I thought $20 for what?!!! Well good thing to keep mouth shut because what was awaiting was pure yummy. Seasoned fries come with this. GetYour napkins out and enjoy"
"Black Owned Business. COVID19 experience. Called in my order for a 25-30 minute window. Phone rep quoted me prices not on the menu.. I thought that was strange since I picked up the menu before I placed my order. Arrived to pick up my food. There was an error in what they gave me vs what I ordered but they quickly corrected it while I waited. The staff appeared to have a lot of orders coming in so it was quite unorganized but a working system. Fried soul food held up for the car ride home. Food was worth the experience. No restrooms. Pick-up orders no dine in"
"Great atmosphere at this little gem on the edge of the Kirkland downtown area. Beautiful decor with lots of hanging plants and beautiful bar area. Our waitress was fast and efficient and we all enjoyed our brunch choices. I got the cheesy grits with soft shell crab (you get a choice of catfish, shrimp or the soft shell crab as topping). It was divine and I ate the whole thing. The roasted vegetables and poached eggs were perfectly cooked, as well as the crab. Luckily they left a bottle of their in-house habanero sauce which I gratefully sprinkled over my meal. Spicy and delicious. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and finding an excuse to visit Kirkland again. There were several things on the menu that looked amazing."
"I thought I was going to get the catfish or chicken, but I ended up splurging on the oxtail special came with two sides. I ended up getting greens and potato salad. I ate the oxtail for lunch with a little bit of rice I had leftover from another meal. The oxtail was fall off the bone tender and the a flavor bomb I had a hard tome not licking the bowl. I hadn't even heard about this place till today when a friend suggested going here since we were next door picking up bbq at The Barbecue Pit.My order of oxtail was $25 and came with two side I selected the greens and potato salad. The potato salad is packed with different veggies and is well seasoned. The greens are good I'm used to some with a little more kick, but still secentI wish I knew this oxtail would be on the menu all the time I'd definitely come back just for it. My friend got the catfish that came with fries. I'm not a catfish expert but one of the better I've had some places are dry from over frying. I gave may friend a piece of oxtail for a piece of the catfish. It was moist and flavorful the coating was nice and well seasoned."
"Simply Soulful is simply delightful!I didn't realize they are now located in the Central District, not Madison Valley. Google maps is a little off, where it kept directing us to enter on 25th, but their entrance is right next to Amazon Fresh on 23rd and Jackson.Ordering is straight forward, you walk in and place your order at the counter then find a table. Their menus for breakfast and dinner are available all day. I went with their shrimp & grits, which I have been craving since binge watching "The Great Soul Food Cook-off", and their trio side sampler where you get to choose 3 sides.Simply Soulful's shrimp and grits exceeded my cravings. I thought the portion size was just right and love the textures of the grits, sauce and shrimp. Even with splitting the sides, I was feeling content and not stuffed. If I had to choose a favorite of the sides it would be the yams, but I definitely will get all 3 again.I personally thought the service at Simply Soulful is great, and I enjoy the laid back vibe of this restaurant. I look forward to coming back and tasting the rest of their menu."
"Gorgeous golden crispy outside & delicious and juicy inside! Friends- Sincerely, this chicken is heaven sent!! My son said the macaroni & cheese is the best he's ever had ! But that potato salad is also magnificent!P.S. we received outstanding service at the front desk by the young gentleman."
"I wanted southern food and I got southern food here. A cute restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Limited free street parking here though there is a paid parking lot next to it. Service was excellent! There was only one server on duty when I was there but it didn't feel like service was slow or lacking. Kamila was great in making recommendations when she found out I never had grits before. She told me how it could be eaten (plain, sugar and butter or salt and pepper). I got the chicken fried steak breakfast plate as it came with grits. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I ever eaten due to the seasoning. So delicious! If it's the same seasoning for the fried chicken and other fried stuff, I can see them being equally yummy. The biscuit was nice with butter and jam. I had the grits with butter and sugar. More sugar the better. It had a porridge (oatmeal) texture which I didn't really like. But now I know what grits taste like. I'll be back for the other stuff in future. Fried chicken. Fried okras. Fried catfish fillet. I saw someone ordered a hot chocolate and it came in a huge mug (mason jar) with lots of whipped cream. This place does not stint on the good stuff."
"This small & locally owned restaurant is only open a few days a week. It's run by a Pastor and you'll catch him running the front of the house. The place is quaint and the people are friendly. And the food here delivers in every possible way. If you appreciate Soul Food and/or Southern Food then this is the place for you. The cabbage here was everything I could ever ask for. I wanted more when I was done. The Mac & cheese didn't look like much to me but man did it serve on tastes. It was cheesy, seasoned and cooked just right. The fried chicken was cooked fresh and seasoned to perfection. My breast was still juicy and piping hot. Call ahead for to go orders or you'll spend your time waiting for the chicken to be fried. The peach cobbler here is not my preferred way to have as I like a pie crust with mine but oh my goodness, I took one bite and couldn't stop savoring this dessert. Do yourself and get you some. Open Fridays & Saturdays, and the menu slightly rotates weekly so check their website ( southerngrill1.com ) to check menu and confirm hours. This place is everything and more that I could ever ask for when it comes to good ole soul food."
"Ok look, sometimes when I go somewhere, I just get what I call a bag of food. That's where you get a bunch of stuff and they hand you a giant bag... Today I did this and got a table full instead of a bag, but really, same principle... Three kinds of cheese steaks. Fried okra, catfish, two kinds of wings, Poppers, onion rings, hush puppies, coleslaw and Strawberry lemonade. My bill was about 90 bucks which surprised me a little, however price is no object when you're buying a bag of food. So let's start with the best and work our way down with the cheese steaks. These were amazing. They actually have cheez wiz steaks if you're into the original flavor, which was my first choice, but the pepperoni cheese steak equally as good. Those and the lemon pepper wings were OMG life changing. The okra was a little mushy, but not bad. Mild buffalo wings were a little vinger-y but them and the Poppers were pretty solid, above average. The onion rings and coleslaw were both about average. And I was not a fan of the catfish and hush puppies. On that note tho, they weren't bad, just not how I like my cat fish... So all that said this is a huge win. Stick to the cheese steaks and wings they bring you so much food that's all you really need anyway... Or else You'll end up with three boxes of take home food like I did!"
"After trying their restaurant in Kirkland we knew we had to eat here. We came for dinner recently and walked in without a reservation. We had a short wait before we were seated. The service is excellent. We got Jamaican patties with chicken, Curry goat, Fried Shrimp PoBoy + Fries. We loved the Jamaican patties, the filling was delicious. We loved it so much we got another order of it to go. The Curry Goat was good, absolutely loved the Fried Shrimp PoBoy, the right size with delicious, fresh shrimp. The fries were great. We will be back soon for more."
"We got a Groupon for this place and decided to grab dinner here. It's located in the tzar dumpling shop so it looks like they share the kitchenThe groupon was for 1lb of catfish with 6 hush puppies. The ordering was a little weird. We called to place our order and they told us to text instead. Also if we pay card, it was $1 charge, but if you pay cash, it has to be exact change...On to the food:The catfish was fresh and hot, but not as flavorful. There was some spice but you can barely taste it. The hush puppies were denser than most but it was flavorful, however some pieces were still cold inside. Price: without the Groupon, it would have been around $20, which is pricy in my opinion. The meal was almost a light meal for 2 people. Overall, it was ok. Not sure I would be back."
"Good ol' Comfort Food!! Fresh + Flavorful + Friendly Service = An Experience I'd want again and again!Ordered the original Prawns for my son, they were dipped in a nicely seasoned batter then fried until crispy, jojos were seasoned so well my son didn't even eat them with ketchup.I ordered the catfish dinner that came with two sides. Catfish was fresh, well seasoned and crispy. The greens were so rich & flavorful you can tell they've been simmering slowly to create a bold hearty broth. The Mac & cheese was seasoned to perfection, this was grandmas baked Thanksgiving Mac not aunties Mac. I've had side dishes from plenty of "soul food" spots around town from Caribbean to BBQ and every place tries to do their own spin which turns out lackluster but these sides capitalized on comfort and make you feel like you just left grandmas kitchen with a plate of food.Everything was piping hot and did I mentioned seasoned?! Seattle Soul Kitchen clearly wants their customers to feel like family eating delicious comfort food and that was our exact experience, I personally can't wait for them to open their first casual dining restaurant because I can see how inviting and warm the staff are from the quick interaction we had picking up our order.Straight up and down 10/10 would recommend!"
