Vic C. "This Bakery Nouveau location can be found across the street from WAMOS with a small parking lot. In the mood for something sweet, my husband, our little girl dog and I decided to check out this location (I had one of their locations in Seattle bookmarked but was surprised to see on Yelp that there was another location closer to where we were since we happened to be in Federal Way). We came by this afternoon a little after 2 pm. We were able to get parking and walked in. After looking around the bakery cases, we ended up ordering:Coconut Cookie, $2.75- This coconut cookie has cashews and chocolate caramel chips mixed in with toasted coconut. The ingredients in this cookie intrigued me and am glad I decided to get it because it was really good. I really liked the taste of all the flavors of this cookie. It wasn't too sweet and had a nice chew to it. I would order this again. Twice Baked Almond Croissant, $6- My husband opted to get this croissant. I didn't have any but he and our little girl devoured it. There was an almond filling inside and the croissant was nice and flakey. Birthday Macron, $2.50- I just love birthday flavored anything and so I had to get this. There was actual birthday cake in the macron filling, which surprised me because I have never had a macron that had cake in it. I really enjoyed it and so did my little girl. --------------------------- (Total= $11.25) After we purchased our items, we sat outside with our little girl. Although it was a sunny afternoon, the umbrellas were able to keep the sun off our faces. Service was friendly. We were greeted upon entering and the employees behind the counter were all very friendly. I can see why this location's overall rating is ~ 4.5 stars with nearly 400 reviews. I really enjoyed our visit and look forward to coming back when I am in town."

Alisha B. "This darling family-run pop-up next to Foley"s ROCKS! Besides coffee, tea, juice and lemonade, they stock a WIDE variety of bakery treats. I can tell a real pastry chef is in the house! We tried...*Chocolate chip cookie - It's as big as my face! This cookie with mild buttery toffee notes has a very tender crumb and contains some huge dark chocolate disks as well as some chips. Great quality chocolate! *Lemon crumble bun isn't a cheap grocery store sticky roll. It's delicate buttery layers are very tender and had just the right amount of sweet lemon curd and a hint of cinnamon to keep me coming back for more! *Raspberry crumble bun also had a melt in your mouth tender texture. The raspberry fulling was mostly pooled in the center at the bottom but I enjoyed the whole berries on top Next time I'm going for the lemon blueberry croissant and a quiche....which look AMAZING!"

IF NOT, remedy that vacancy IMMEDIATELY!!!-it truly is the platonic ideal of coconut desserts, if not coconut used in edible form.HOWEVER, today (after intermittently consuming edibles from this purveyor of baked goods since transplanting here some 25 years ago, I review donuts (as most reviews). I am a proverbial zombie to engage in a first bite of a Donut.A Sunday morning found me and my adolescent in tow with some extra time and I could not remember the last time I crossed the threshold of the bakery (rather than enjoying branded treats at another of Tom Douglas's eateries).Mochi-nuts, gluten free donuts. All six flavors, equal in function and form.Guava, orange-tamarind, dirty chai, German chocolate, funfetti, and matcha yuza,The orange tamarind had a vibrancy and zing not unlike my homemade cold brew coffee (that I'm petty sure isn't street legal with its concentration of consumable caffeine). Spark.Zest.We wanted more.Thankfully there were other donuts in the box.All delicious, all of them. This is truly an Indian statement for me to make regarding fried dough. But, they all are good. The orange does stand tall among giants this morning. As evidenced, the picture today was lucky to have captured half-eaten pastry as they quickly disappeared."

Jennifer J. "OMGThis place has been on my "must try" list for, like, evs. Well today was the day as I found myself in Fairhaven, hangry, and needing more caffeine. From the moment I got out of my car I could smell the amazing deliciousness emanating from this tiny little bakery. And from the line at the counter, I'm guessing I wasn't the only one!Iron Rooster describes itself as a French bakery, and I can't disagree. Their display case was FULL of pastry deliciousness. From croissants and cakes to quiche and other delights, there was something for pretty much anyone. Since I hadn't had breakfast yet, I opted for a bear claw - a gorgeously layered pastry stuffed with eggs, cheese, and sundried tomatoes. Warmed up perfectly, this little delight was absolutely delicious and satisfied my rumbling tummy. No sooner was I done biting into my bear claw when my vanilla oat milk latte arrived. Served in a 12-oz "here" cup and adorned with #latteart, it was a thing of beauty that I didn't really want to disturb. So I finished my bear claw and took a few lovely pics of my beverage before I dove in. I'll say it again: OMG. This is, I'm pretty sure, the best cup of coffee I've had in Bellingham. (And if you know me, you know I've had a LOT of coffee!)It was sweet, but not too sweet. Vanilla-y, but not too vanilla-y, creamy (like it was made with real milk, but it wasn't), and the coffee-to-other-stuff proportion was off the charts. I had trouble not drinking it too fast, and then more trouble not ordering a second one! I can hardly wait to go back and make sure this cup of java perfection was not an anomaly, but the real deal.My only regret about the Iron Rooster is that I didn't visit sooner. They've been open for awhile now and I can only live in sorrow at the coffee (and pastry) deliciousness I've been missing!"

They got the birthday year wrong on the cake (though it was correct on the form and email), but they fixed it perfectly when I picked it up (though the baker didn't seem happy about it). While we were there, we got two macarons to nibble. We found them crunchy and very hard throughout. Not what we expected. This place has hands down the best croissants I've ever had. Better than the ones in Paris even. They have regular croissants, chocolate, almond, and usually an almond chocolate one. The croissants are pure perfection - flaky, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. I always get the chocolate croissant and you can tell it's made with quality chocolate. It's not very sweet and is just absolutely delicious. I don't think you can find a better chocolate croissant anywhere else. Make sure to get here early because they sell out of certain kinds of croissants (especially almond) really quickly. Why they don't make more croissants so they don't sell out by 9:30-10ish is beyond me. I've also tried a caramel chocolate tart here once that was also very good. There is a small parking lot to the side of the building with parking reserved for customers, I parked in stall number 6 and there was one more stall beyond that. A family entered ahead of me and one after me. A hand sanitization station was located just inside the entrance and social distancing stickers were on the floor in the line area.Looking at the options, I saw the blue doughnut with the rainbow on it and decided I had to try it. The rainbow piece looked similar to some of the sour candy I like and I had not had a blue doughnut before, so it was time to give it a try. The workers were kind in their interactions and careful in extracting the doughnut from the case and putting it in its to-go container.Turns out not only was the rainbow a sour candy piece, the blue frosting had a subtle sour flavor to it. As someone who loves sour candy, this was very cool and a novel eating experience for me. Made me, my taste buds, and my belly happy. The clouds were closer to a whipped cream and the doughnut itself a yeast raised. Texturally light and fluffy, and a hearty serving size."

Idk why but grocery store cakes just don't do it for me. I'd rather pay extra and get a good quality slice of cake. When I went in this day I came towards the end of the day and they didn't have any slices of cake left. I was pretty bummed out about it. I then saw the frosted cookies and immediately asked if they were soft! A lot of bakery's make frosted cookies and the cookie is hard and sometimes the frosting is hard too lol. The man told me that they were soft so I ordered that. I bought a cupcake as well because it looked good and duh! Go Seahawks! So when I got home the first thing I did was break off the cookie....this was like those old school home made sugar cookies that you would make and frost yourself. Very soft and thick omg. Almost like a soft short bread cookie. And I'm sure you can imagine how dangerous that must be lol. The frost was great! Not too sweet or too thick. The cupcake was good as well. So made a split second detour to Hillcrest Bakery instead, thankfully a much shorter line. Plus they have been in business since 1934, got to be doing something right as a local OG indie! There's ample parking, also both indoor and outdoor seating, variety of baked goods, but kind of dour, stoic counter staff. I had limited time, no time to dawdle. I purchased a chocolate ring, a bacon maple bar, and a pair of beef sausage rolls. Later at home, the doughnuts were deemed tasty. The sausage rolls held up overnight in the fridge. Marie B. "I was thankful that I-5S and 99N were straightforward to/from Shoreline, because I made yet another attempt to check out Panterelli in West Seattle (7/8/23, 8/4/23) after first reading about this indie business in late June. I also had good luck finding nearby street parking in the Junction.I purchased one of each of the three choux items featured in the pastry case on Friday morning, see my attached Yelp photos of whole choux and later halved. Note: the pastry case does not have signage or prices placed with each product. I was charged a flat $17.85 plus tip - this was just under $21. Each item was nicely packaged in Barbie-pink containers with a clear lid and placed carefully in a bag. I was reminded to make sure to refrigerate these choux if not consumed immediately. Duly noted for filled pastries on a summer morning.I would have inquired further about ingredient details and prices. However, there was another individual ahead of me. Plus while in line, I was detecting a strong distinct scent of chocolate. Sure enough, while packaging my items, the presumed owner had to pause and remove a pan of melting chocolate off the burner. Not seeing another pastry assistant in the production area, this was a one man business this morning. It is wasteful to burn chocolate, especially when on direct heat and not melting via a bain marie. So I did not want to further distract the owner with random questions. Plus in my case, the intended choux aficionado does not have a nut, gluten, or lactose allergy. Just take the above into consideration if you or others may have allergies or sensitivities.I would have had an Illy coffee onsite, per the first Yelp review mentioning "Perfect espresso". But the limited indoor seating was all a jumble - chairs all askew among the few tables. Again, that would have been another pause for the owner. I decided to have an espresso elsewhere instead. This bakeshop's niche is focusing on choux pastries, familiar as éclairs or cream puffs. The light airy eggy pastry is filled and dipped with tasty ingredients. I appreciated the pastry cream, but did not really pick up the pistachio flavor profile. The pastry shells were thin so contents were generous, but led to the shells not remaining crisp and a bit soggy. It is telling that the other halves have not been immediately consumed by The Homie. This and other observations resulted in an overall 3 Yelp review. Instagram posts showed another pastry assistant in training. Glad to see that another indie is fairly successful from the get go with early shop closure due to product being completely sold out. Hopefully Panterelli will get their par numbers increased to allow for consistency and variety. West Seattle loves their dessert choices with nearby A la Mode Pies, Cupcake Royale, Flying Apron, and Bakery Nouveau...and now with the addition of Panterelli."

Know what I mean? This time I did find something I like A LOT - the Nunetine, which is a glazed puff pastry. I've eaten inexpensive packaged versions (terrible!) and I've eaten similar ones from other local bakeries. This version might be my favorite. Plenty of almonds, just a hit of sweetness, very flaky pieces of pastries. In fact, I was surfing while I was eating and absentmindedly ate the entire bag. Oops. I called it lunch...The other item I bought is a slice of matcha roll cake. It's green, that's about as matcha as it gets.
