That is, until we saw the door open at Engel's on a sunny Sunday afternoon and decided one more beer wouldn't hurt, right? What really drew us in was the dive atmosphere and the dart boards we saw in the back. We walked in, ordered a beer, and headed straight back to the boards (nobody else was back there, bonus!)Whoever was playing the music was also on point, as it was a great collection of throwbacks. We ended up staying for TWO beers, and had a great time. The service was great as well, and for a nicer day, I'm surprised it wasn't packed! I'm not up in the Edmonds area a ton, but when I return, Engel's will definitely be one of my stops!"

Stacey P. "In the past six years I have passed Lucky Liquor on my way to work and would glance at it filled with uncertainty. Then one day I decided to go and since I have been back several times. It is a small dive bar and it is very much a dive bar but in the best of fantastic ways. It is the bar that you go to without any judgement, where people greet you enthusiatically, and the decor is fun and unpretentious. The lighting is low, the music can be loud, they show films from time to time, and there are pinball machines along the wall. It is comfortable. The drinks were super good - stiff without feeling too slap across the face stiff - and the food is great - simple, fun, great bar food. The bartenders here have always been very friendly and accommodating. If it isn't too busy they'll step out from behind the bar to offer a refill. If it is busy then it is understandable that they aren't able to do that as frequently. The crowd is fun. I'm not sure about its status. I don't know if it is hanging by a thread or just choosing to remain a little beat down to keep the ambiance. I know, though, that it is fun, friendly, with good people and great drinks."

Stephanie P. "I was pretty excited to hear that Dan Deacon was coming to Seattle, but a little baffled when I saw the name of the venue: the Vera Project, an all-ages club somewhere in the Seattle Center, of all places. "Who's Vera?" I thought. "And what kind of live music joint does she run?"Well, it turns out that it's not VEER-uh, like the girl's name, but VAIR-uh, as in, "Veri Et Recti Amici (Vera) - True And Sincere Friends." And it's not just a venue, it's a music-arts center that "provides a unique resource to Seattle's youth and music community by maintaining a safe, alcohol-and-smoke free environment for people of all ages to come together and experience music in a way that transcends commercial entertainment and erases divisions between performer, staff, and audience." What this means to you is that it's a cheap, friendly, all-ages place to hear good bands and still get home before midnight. The building is on the corner of Warren and Republican, and while it's not exactly obvious from the street, it's not too hard to find. Street parking is available and was easy to find on a Thursday, and there are paid lots just opposite the building, too. Inside, you walk down a flight of stairs to the main level, a brightly lit community-center-looking room that (when I was there) featured a large display of found letters, pictures, and other ephemera, some of which seemed to be on loan from "Found" magazine. There's also a small coffee bar in one corner, though I didn't see anyone buying any refreshments. Because it is all-ages, you will feel ancient and lame, so just hang out creepily in a corner and leer at the young, pretty hipster kids. The room where the bands actually play is pretty cool - it's fairly spacious and has black walls with a clever nature-themed newspaper collage. A few salvaged diner-type booths are at the back, although the seats are so hard it's not much better than standing. The volunteer staff seems competent and friendly - they kept the show moving on schedule and got everyone out before curfew. And did I mention they're cheap? It was the best $6 I've spent in a long time, and for a buck more I got a discount card good for shows for the rest of the year. Hey, I'm convinced - they've got a VERA in me."

I did enjoy a good beer, though, and a bowl of their tasty chicken pozole. For dessert we feasted on some of their famous churros - it was hard not to eat a bunch of them! For my second visit I ended up there when a couple of bands were playing. Maria R. "Tonight was my first ever visit to The Triple Door. I saw Los Lobos and sat in the 3rd "row" center. Every seat here is a good seat. If you want more comfort, bring a group and choose a booth. If you want to be close to the stage, there are hard chairs and bar-like seating with a narrow "table" in front of you. I can't speak for the entrees but I did have two of the night's special cocktails in honor of the band (delicious) and a coconut sago pudding for dessert off of the regular menu. I enjoyed the dessert but some might have found it a little too sweet. If I remember correctly, the sago came with a fennel infused pandan sauce. It was good but I couldn't really taste the fennel, which in my opinion was a good thing. Even though this intimate venue, with its multiple levels of booths and bar seating, is nicer than most concert venues I've been to in Seattle, I noticed that the crowd was casual. You can get dressed up if you want, but I saw a lot of plaid shirts, tees, and flannel. Then again, maybe it's because of Los Lobos (which, btdubs, ROCKED IT ALL THE WAY OUT). Acoustics were awesome. The music was loud but not so loud that I couldn't hear anything when I left the venue. The only drawback for me was that it was a little tight to get up and dance. If you want to do that, choose a row at the wall or on a corner of the front row so you can get up near the exits and not block anyone's view. You have to walk down a level to get to the theater and the bathrooms are down another level. I didn't see any elevators and it is a smaller space, so I wouldn't count on easy accessibility if you have issues with mobility. I did see a couple "box seats,", which are behind glass on the first level and separate from the venue below, but there is still a slope to get to them. However, for a band like Los Lobos, I wouldn't want to sit that far away from the crowd (which was fantastic) or the music. This is the closest you will be to your favorite bands than most venues, so take advantage of it!Finally, pro tip: park in the garage around right next to The Triple Door / around the corner. It was only $12 to park. Take your ticket with you because you need the QR code to access the elevator. If you pay for parking in advance using the QR code, exiting out of the garage is fast and easy."

But they pack the shelves with really interesting wines, and they seem to have a really lively calendar of tastings, with good bar snacks on offer. You're in a created mall area, and that has pros and cons. There's parking out back, but you might not always be in the mood for the sluggishness of traffic plodding through these blocks. If you don't mind it, though, this seems like one of the more fun places to drink in this area. They have a little bit of outdoor seating--just a couple tables, and certainly out of commission in the fall and winter, when we visited. Inside, they have a couple of medium-sized highboys, and a nice long bar. You see those first, and you realize they really do want you to stay and partake here. There are long high racks of shelves down the side and back of the space, filled with interesting bottles, all custom-constructed of nice wood, to create a pleasant home-cellar effect. There are big comfortable stools everywhere. The wine selection focuses on the west coast, especially CA. Lots of nice reds, including some real specialty bottles, some at double the prices they fetch in CA. That happens, especially with the rare and fancy stuff. There appeared to be tons of really reasonable selections available, though. The staff here are super friendly and nice, offering thoughtful, thorough answers to every question, and creating a very upbeat and welcoming environment. We were just here to find an interesting bottle, but I immediately filed the place into memory as a future drinking spot, especially on a cold or blustery day for red wines."

Aside from the awesome food - which I'll get to in a second - and the live music, I was most impressed by the bartender. He was super charismatic, super friendly and very funny. When I popped in with a group of 6 or so friends, he swiftly tended to us, made sure to introduce himself and took everyone's drink order. When it came time to get food I actually decided to opt out. It was nearly midnight and I had already eaten dinner hours earlier. But my friend next to me got a basket of fries and that's when it got hard to ignore the menu...The fries were AWESOME! In fact, they were so tempting that not only did I sneak a few, I actually asked to see the whole menu. Comprised mostly of about a dozen varieties of slider, I was super happy to see the variety. Suddenly my stomach growled and though I didn't want two sliders, I knew I could share with a friend. The only issue then was deciding which to get. I recall a buffalo chicken slider but only got as far as the fried bologna. HELL. YES!!! I ordered one and my buddy ordered another. (They come two to a plate.)My little slider was DELICIOUS! In fact, it was so good that I could totally envision making a trip all the way back to this bar just to have them again. So yeah... I'm a fan. Tom B. "It's a cool space for sure. As of spring 2016, they still have a bit of work to do before it's finished, but it's shaping up amazingly. It's right on the busy hillclimb side of Fauntleroy, and you have to run around back to get to the parking lot. But once you settle in, it's an unbelievably relaxing place to sit and watch the traffic. The main door is a big neo-rustic heavy wooden slab, with light showing between the planks. Next to that are three huge all-glass roll-up garage doors, which flood the place with light all the time, and air when they're open. The bar comes out almost to the doors. Lots of tall tables and tall stools throughout. They have the wall roughed in to separate the brewhouse from the taphouse, but right now you can walk right between the frames. Still, the setting feels finished, and feels fantastic. They offer a ton of house beers, along with a few guests and I think some wine and maybe a cider or something. They're right next door to Jones BBQ, which carries orders over to the taphouse. Match made in heaven between those two. I'm lukewarm on Jones, but they definitely have their fans, and it's hard to argue the combination of fresh beer and hand-delivered bbq. For years, this place was always closed whenever you'd drive by, but they've suddenly made all this effort to spruce things up, even hired an experienced pro brewer from out of state. They're really making a go of it, and the crowds seem to be paying off their efforts. There are tons of flat screens around the taproom, tuned to the game--this place is a hangout.I can't really call this the most welcoming place, though, to be honest. I stood at the bar forever while the barkeep puttered around, then he came over when a regular walked in behind me--and chatted with the regular for a while. He took my order pretty much without a word, and then he and the regular laughed about how difficult i was making his job by paying in cash. That's fine if you don't need the business, I guess."

The staff and security were friendly when were were checking in and getting us patted down. When we walked in I was amazed by how big the club was.I like that they had a huge bar and it was separate from the dancefloor, with this there wasn't as much crowding at the bar. The dancefloor itself was big enough for a lot of people and we were able to dance comfortably without being cramped. We also had so much fun here hyping up other people and creating dance circles. It was all good vibes and no drama. The bartenders and bar was great. There were about 3 bartenders and they were working fast and hard. We never waited long to order or for our drinks to be made. The bartenders were really heavy handed/generous with the alcohol, so you know you are getting your money's worth and not those watered down drinks. So a couple drinks got us to the right level. The bathrooms were kind of confusing. It was gender neutral but there were urinals separated for the men, but this worked well as there was barely a line for the restrooms. There were bathrooms next to the stage, and a DJ /VIP area? up the stairs to the right. The VIP area is kinda small and too lit up for a club imo. Then there was a hallway that leads to the selfie room, the bar for 21+ and hip hop room. The "selfie room" was a bit off putting... as the selfie room was decorated to look like an old run down asian restaurant with a huge asian looking fan on the back wall, and asian looking wallpaper.
