That is, until we saw the door open at Engel's on a sunny Sunday afternoon and decided one more beer wouldn't hurt, right? What really drew us in was the dive atmosphere and the dart boards we saw in the back. We walked in, ordered a beer, and headed straight back to the boards (nobody else was back there, bonus!)Whoever was playing the music was also on point, as it was a great collection of throwbacks. We ended up staying for TWO beers, and had a great time. The service was great as well, and for a nicer day, I'm surprised it wasn't packed! Popular looking spot right in the middle of Greenlake area we were seated inside for our party of 5 quickly as it was nice out all the outdoor seats were taken, so take note if you wish to enjoy that.I got a couple orders of Spicy habanero mac balls. 'Panko crusted' habanero cheese, jalapeño with sweet chili sauce for dipping. off the bat the consistency between the two plate was off, one had more sauce than the other, but I didn't want to raise that big of an issue with it. The mac balls themselves were ok. Slight kick with 5 "balls" per order running about $13-14. The sauce is the same as you get at and on any pub Thai chili wings order. The highlight was absolutely the milkshake. I got the Boston Creme shake, and man. It lived up to its reputation as they have on the menu that they have the best milkshakes. It was SOOO chocolatey, but not too chocolatey. If you're feeling a milkshake while here, I recommend. Not a bad spot come with a group, as it there is a fairly varied menu."

Deanna B. "My husband discovered this restaurant/bar whilst I was out on vacation. He wanted to share his find so on Friday night Nov. 11, 2022 we went over to check it out. So glad he brought me there. This little gem is in central Marysville, WA just off of State Street in a little strip mall just north of the Fred Meyer. It falls in near a 7/11 and another Asian restaurant. We went around 7 PM and had no issues finding a place to sit. District 1 Ban Mi Bar is split into two establishments. There is a sports bar on one side with pool tables and dart boards. The other side is the unassuming restaurants Banh Mi & Bar. Very nice lady took our order. It was my first time at the location so I asked if I had made a good choice, she agreed I had. I chose the Noodle Salad Bowl with a sweet marinated pork and egg roll. My husband had a Pork Bahn Mi Sandwich with egg. The food took less than 10 minutes to arrive. What an amazing surprise that was brought to our table. My noodle salad bowl looked so fresh. It had vegetables some carrots, cucumbers, and lettuce. The cucumbers and carrots tasted slightly pickled and sweet. Perfect for the dish. The Asian vermicelli noodles were freshly cooked, not mushy at all, just very lovely. The pork was marinated similar to teriyaki but better. It was just a great dish all around. My husband ordered the Grilled Pork Ban Mi Sandwich with a fried egg sandwich. The bread was fresh, with fresh vegetables, jalapeños, grilled pork and a fried egg. I didn't have this but my husband said it is one of the best Ban Mi sandwiches he has had.We also ordered Cha'gio as an appetizer.Everything was fresh. Very light and crispy and yummy! We didn't go over to the sports bar, but they have a full bar, the pool tables and dart boards. The dart boards were open. The pool tables were full. What a gem in the area.We will be going back! Our new favorite place!"

Stuff tried:Enchiladas espinaca: spinach enchiladas which i havent seen on many menus. Great garlicky spinach inside two enchiladas. With the mexican rice and refried beans, a nice meal. Chile relleno: i almost always try this dish whenever i see it on the menu! I asked if i could get this a la carte (not listed as an option on menu) and they were nice enough to accomodate. Version here is pretty solid and the pepper still has a tiny bit of spicy heat! Complimentary tortilla chips were very fresh out of the fryer and were great with excellent salsa! Do yourself a favor and ask for some extra salsa to pour on everything."

Overall seems like a cute place to hang out, and they have dance classes/dance events right next door (if that's not your thing, you might want to check the schedule to see if there will be a crowd - the bartender said that sometimes people come in before/after those events). Finding street parking and getting seated was easy enough, but placing our order took quite awhile. But once completed, our shakes, burgers, fries, salad, soup, and other components came from the kitchen shortly thereafter and made for a generous spread, with some boxed up.Great spot with varied menu, bar, indoor/outdoor seating. Tom B. "In short:A cool bar in a vintage space with some historic flair in the decor, great cocktails, and a really comforting menu.In long:It shares a roof with the Mount Baker Theater, which is great on show days if you have tickets, and probably less slammed on most other days. It fronts out on Commercial, and the staff seem to have all they can do without even knowing who's playing or whether there's a show. I've been here only on a show day, but this seems like a very good sign that they're just always busy. We wandered in half an hour before a show was set to start in the building, and scored seats on a genuinely comfortable vintage couch at the back of the bar. There's old brick, high windows, and some wood on the walls. Look at the very top of the wooden walls--same wood, but much, MUCH lighter at the top. Probably decades of cigarette smoke soaked into the old wood. Not a trace of smoke scent in the air, though, so I LOVE this little detail.Staff were super friendly from the host station to the bar to the servers. Everybody's enjoying their shifts, and drinks fly out quickly. Nobody right before the show was eating, and we had just come from a light dinner. So I will vouch for the deviled eggs (three halves, very light and airy yolks, tons of interesting seasonings and flavors) but can't speak to anything else. I will soon enough, though. Lots of nice touches on their menu and we're eager to come back and check it out.We had great luck with cocktails and the wine was fine. I think the bottles of red on the counter might get lightstruck here so maybe still with refrigerated wines or cocktails. Prices were fair and they were great about getting a room full of people out the door for showtime. It was just a quick visit for a drink, and we ended up oohing and aahing over the menu and messaging friends to plan a return visit. What a great find at the absolute last minute before the show."

The first time I went I had the CFS (chicken fried steak) it came with eggs, potatoes and toast. The gravy had chunks of sausage, and good flavor! The potatoes were chunks (home fries type). Definitely not my favorite breakfast potato choice (I'm a hash brown fan) but they were cooked well (crispy) and tasted pretty darn good! And the bread was to die for. Homemade and thick! We took our friends here for breakfast this morning bc as well as having amazing breakfast, they also serve mimosas (that is one of their requirements of a breakfast establishment). My husband and I both ordered Biscuits and Gravy with a side of fried chicken (chicken breast tenders) and it came with eggs. We're on to something here. I don't know why this isn't an option anywhere, it is such a good and hearty breakfast. Way better than CFS if you ask me! Next time we will both get the same thing again, but will definitely ask for a side of gravy... because let's be honest, there is no such thing as too much gravy! The Bryant Cafe is fire! It is my neighborhood staple for breakfast! Food is fantastic, and the service is great, even when it's a full house! A++ !!"

I will start off by saying that I am a Nacho afficinato. It plays a lot into my review. The spinach enchiladas and fish tacos were fantastic, and the fish taco meal size was large. I was a bit worried that the chips that came out to the table were just a bit oily but not bad. It just took the down on the crispness of the chips. I think it played into the Nachos Supreme. My nachos were actually a bit chewy, and there did not seem to be enough cheese on the nachos. The chicken on the nachos was plentiful, but overall, if we're to rate just based on the nachos, it would have been a 3-star review.
