Sea Ranch

We were in the area and were looking for something relatively quick for lunch so decided to stop by Sea Ranch. There are a few small tables inside but it may be difficult to find a table during lunch/dinner rush. Thankfully we were able to snag a table after waiting ~5-10 minutes. Our food came out shortly thereafter.I had the chirashizushi (fish pieces over rice: tuna, white fish, salmon, shrimp, eel, omelette, imitation crab and salmon roe) while hubby had the sushi superior (1 piece each: tuna, white fish, salmon, yellowtail, eel, surf clam, shrimp and smelt roe; 1/2 tuna roll and 1/2 cucumber roll). The fish was fresh and the rice was prepared well. However, I didn't read the fish that the chirashizushi came with and there were a few that I didn't care for (imitation crab and shrimp). It was still good nonetheless and was plenty of food for me. On the other hand, hubby was still left slightly hungry but polished off both of our miso soups. Overall, decent spot for quick and decently priced sushi.

If you're looking for Japanese groceries or if you're looking for sushi, this is the place. The staff is always friendly and happy to help you find what you need. You can eat at one of the cute tables and enjoy their hot tea, or you can get it to go and enjoy your meal at home. To my vegetarian friends: they have veggie sushi! And it's not "here's a cucumber roll; take it or leave it", there's a whole delicious assortment including thoughtful vegetarian combos.

Amazing sushi for an incredible price! The place is counter service with a few small tables to dine in at, and there's also a bunch of Japanese convenience store snacks that are great! I ordered 2 California rolls and 2 tuna rolls for less than $20 and it was all delicious. I'm excited to try the specialty rolls next time!

Love this place. The vibes are great, I love the combined mini-convenience store + restaurant combo. The people working are always so nice and the sushi is the best in Evanston.

Updating my review and adding a star. The fish is super fresh and the prices are extremely fair. Place reminds me of a Japanese 7-11 type store complete with Japanese candy and snacks. Grab a pre made roll from the refrigerator or order custom rolls, chefs combos or large party platter. The food won't disappoint. There are about 5 tables in the place if you are interested in dining in. Super super casual. Highly recommend

This place is amazing!!! Best sushi in the city!! It's a little Japanese grocery store that serves some of the best pieces of sushi ever. The service is great and the staff is friendly and always smiling. I would highly recommend this amazing sushi restaurant

Decent sushi for reasonable prices. I've been here a handful of time and we once ordered a veggie sushi platter for an event. It was throughly enjoyed by the party

Very affordable (a set of udon + California roll only sets you back about $11) spot great for students. They sell fresh fish as well! In terms of flavor, definitely nothing noteworthy / the price is right, but would still recommend as a casual dinner spot.Dined: October 2, 2022

Sea Ranch has always had amazing sushi and they did not disappoint on Mother's Day, even though a busy day, they were efficient and the staff was wonderful. Every roll-specialty and regular were so delicious. Looking forward to our next visit and more fabulous sushi. Thank you!!
