We used to love this place and visited fairly frequently before we left the city in 2019. We were able to visit it last night and were excited to enjoy it again. Unfortunately it was nothing like we remember. The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because I feel bad. It wasn't the waitstaff's fault, and my mocktail was ok. The pretzel bites were nearly half the portion they used to be, but taste about the same. Our salads were underwhelming, while somewhat ok. My partner's Caesar salad was on par with something you would get at a chain restaurant or from a bagged salad with some anchovies added. My beet salad was bizarrely missing any kind of acid flavor normally present in a vinaigrette, and was quite bland. The starters weren't off to a great start so to speak, so we were worried about how the entrees would fare. Well, the entrees turned out to be inedible. I can count on one hand the amount of times in my life I haven't finished my entree at a restaurant, and unfortunately this was one of those times. I have never seen a restaurant fall so hard from what it was. My stuffed salmon had an off flavor to an extent we didn't think it would be safe to consume. The stuffing was supposed to be cream cheese. If it was a blue cheese or something like that, it would've made more sense, but the salmon that didn't even touch the cheese had a fishy/yeasty taste...I hate wasting animal products, so not being able to eat this was very upsetting. The vegetables on the side were ok. My partner ordered the chicken entree and it was extremely dry, and presented smashed on the plate in a weird way. He said the puréed vegetables on the plate tasted like they were from a can. Oh, and the water was absolutely horrific. Tap water from restaurants usually isn't great, but this was possibly the worst tasting water I've ever been served at a restaurant. Please get a water filter or something....I was so thirsty and it was still undrinkable. We didn't complain because it seemed like the waitstaff were already having a bad night, and didn't see the point when there's really no way the restaurant could've fixed for us what is clearly a systemic problem. I really hope they can make some changes and pull it back together, but overall it was depressing to spend that much money to experience one of our favorite restaurants failing so spectacularly...

Arrived at 4 on a Sunday. Service was slow and spotty throughout. Took some time to get waters, a drink menu. The beer battered cauliflower appetizer was fantastic. Other appetizers like the deviled eggs and Brussels sprouts were OK. Burger was supposed to be medium but was beyond well done - burned in spots, which I had to scrape off. And it took a loooong time just to get some ketchup - had to ask for it twice. Water glasses were never refilled. Lava cake was OK. But they hadn't cleaned all our meal plates before dessert arrived.

I really wanted to like this spot, but the service was ridiculously slow. My bestie and I were seated right away and then we had multiple servers come get our drink order. It took them three tries to get just our water order correctly. I order hot water and my bestie, room temperature water and I'm guessing with the lack of communication and multiple servers coming to us, they couldn't get it right. However, we didn't change the order at all the three times they asked so that was interesting. We ordered the Brussels sprouts with pecans. It was highly recommended. The Brussels were good but I was not a fan of the pecans. Then, we waited like 30min or more for our actual dishes. When I asked the server, she said they were having a hard time with their new POS system and that's why it took so long. By the time we got our food, I was already irritated and def tried to still be nice because I didn't know the situation. They weren't very busy and had multiple servers so it didn't make any sense to me. The side spinach salad I got was not that great, but the corned beef hash I ordered was pretty good. When I asked for a to go box, they ran out and took another 10-15 minutes to figure out how we were gonna box our food. The check was provided for us and I had to start walking up to the host stand for us to be able to pay. It took 2 hours for the experience, and we def spent more time waiting. If my bestie and I didn't have a lot of catching up to do, my Karen def would've come out. Cause whew. The restrooms were also gendered, which I find fascinating in Atlanta when there are a good amount of restaurants with gender neutral restrooms. Another thing that threw me off was the FF restroom meant for femme folks with kids, meaning the diaper changing thing is there. *eye roll*

Scout's honor, brunch at Scout was just a-ok. We saw that Scout had outdoor seating and called ahead to check that we could brunch outdoors with our pup. Check! Service was pretty slow - from waiting at the host stand to getting seated to finally flagging down a server and getting our orders in, to finally getting our food... it was a long waiting game. I ordered the Phoenix, which is basically a fancy chicken and waffle - the waffle was fluffy and fragrant but the Nashville hot chicken on top was a bit disappointing - dry and flavor didn't give me Nashville hot vibes. The Triple Berry Jam French Toast was pretty good but nothing mind blowing. Overall, the brunch we had at Scout was just a-ok. But next time I will leave the pup at home and stop in for the fried chicken (because that's what I've heard the most rave reviews for) and hope for a better second try!

Scout is a great restaurant with great ambiance. We came in last night for a date night. The weather was great and we were able to sit outside. The service was amazing. The staff are wonderful and kind. We were greeted right away and we were immediately seated (we made reservations). The food was delicious. I had the duck and my husband had the Cesar salad and the groupers. We would definitely like to try brunch here sometimes.

Scout has a cool vibe, being in an old building that they converted into a restaurant. Plus, their staff is always warm and welcoming. Also, the food was really unique here, and quite good! The sprouts were an unexpected combo of fruit, cheese, and veggies. Somehow, it all worked so well. That uniqueness carried through the whole meal too. I'd absolutely recommend coming here for dinner. I'm going to come back, and try their morning offerings too.

Giving it two stars because our waitress was really good and attentive. We have been to Scout a few times and have generally been satisfied with everything but today the food was awful. I ordered the short rib entree and the mashed potatoes were very gluey and tasted like sour milk, the meat was dry and bland and the sauce was completely broken, greasy and still bland. My husband ordered the lamb chops which were overcooked, greasy and his whole meal was also bland. My daughter's grilled cheese and french fries were the only things that were even just ok. Idk what's going on there these days but we left disappointed and hungry.

Came here for brunch with a friend and left very happy! The restaurant is in an old building that's been updated so the floors are beautiful old (looking, anyway) wood but the rest is modernized. Very cute character and lots of windows and natural light. The staff very welcoming and quick-- from the host to the person to sat us to our waitress. At one point a fly flew into my mimosa and the host, who was walking by, immediately remade it.The menu didn't have a ton of selections but maybe that's for the best so you choose faster! I had their version of eggs Benedict (crispy prosciutto instead of ham. Delish) and my girlfriend got the chicken sausage and strawberry jam French toast. Everything was delicious. I live out of state so I sadly can't make this a regular spot but highly recommend adding this to your list if you're in the area!

A great hidden gem in oakhurst! Came here for brunch with some friends last weekend and it was great. The menu isn't huge but the options are fabulous. I got the French toast, but I think anything would have been great. Need to come back for dinner! The space itself is gorgeous as well. They have a nice bar and lots of natural light!

Love Love Love Scout. My girls and I came here for a Saturday brunch. We sat out on the patio, and the with the fans and umbrellas, it was very pleasant. All of our food and drinks were fantastic. There was plenty of parking all around, and then the little neighborhood was great to walk off all of the food we ate. Everyone was friendly and you felt like you were in a small southern town, because although the four of us came together, we talked to all of the tables around us. Highly recommend checking out Scout and the surround area.
