Santana's Mexican Food

Okay, so I've driven past this place...the location between Grand and Garnet...countless times over many years before I finally gave it a chance and honestly, for fast, decent Mexican food San Diego style, it's now my go-to. Good sized portions at acceptable prices - I would even say they haven't raised their prices quite as much as a lot of their competitors.But really, I like the folks they have working there too. It's always a pleasure to interact with them.

Been coming to eat here since the 80's the food is the bomb!!! I recommend the drive-thru though! My family and I had the worst experience of a life-time!! The whole time we were seating there a vagrant standing in the store by the door eying myself and my family of 7(grandchildren)included made us all very uncomfortable...I approached management and in doing that the vagrant approached my who was holding my granddaughter and turned into a incident that caused myself to chase this man out of the restaurant!

Santana's Mexican Food - There are surprisingly no choices for Mexican food within walking distance of my Mission Bay hotel. So, each time I stay there I brave the horrific traffic & go to the Santana's drive thru. I order the asada burrito combo plate. These must be prepared in advance and then nuked because my wait is always less than 5 minutes, unless there's someone with a big or complicated order ahead of me. The window staff are upbeat and seem happy to work there. (a good sign)A lifelong Southern Californian, I've eaten more than my share of burritos. Nuked or not, the ones here are consistently great. And the red-spicy sauce is actually spicy. The arroz y frijoles are always perfect. The chips stay crispy too. Highly recommended!

I have been going to Santanas all through the county and I don't ever have issues. This is the first time I ate at this location and the last. The cashier was wearing basically no shirt, very rude and when ordering I ordered 4 carne asada TJ tacos and she said they can only do 3 or 6. Unfortunately the menu said x3 x4 x5 and x6. So we ordered two orders of 6 tacos because it's what we wanted. When getting my order she asked if we want any salsa and I said yes green and red. She said the green I wanted they don't have. So two minutes later the table next to me comes and sits and they have the green salsa and I asked her why did you tell me you don't have it and you gave it to them. Oh well they should have was her response. Never going back and calling manager.

Girl in the front with curly hair had the worst customer service. I'm sorry for wanting more sauce for my $50+ order. The Manager should speak to the employees and train them on basic costumer service. Also the bathrooms are NASTY just like the cashiers attitude.

Ordered a cali burrito and got a burrito with only protein, fries and pico de gallo, um what? The traditional cali burrito we all know and love has guacamole and sour cream included and are not add ons. Disappointed.

Cashier in the front with the curly hair has an attitude NASTIER than the restrooms which look like they haven't been cleaned in years.

La Paz burrito is my all time favorite. I've been coming for over 10 years. It use to cost $7.50 and came with a drink. A few years ago it went up to $12.50 No drink! Today I'm very sad to see $14 for this burrito and they flip an iPad at you asking for a tip. As a local I use to eat these +3 times a week they were so good. The end of an era for sure. Can't justify A $14 fast food burrito.

Food was second only to Aldabertos Always enjoyed it, decent prices, it's a drive through so you better not be there for ambiance...

I ordered a simple rice and bean burrito, but requested no cheese. after getting home and taking a bite, I realized I had received a fish burrito. I drove back to the restaurant with the incorrect order and requested, again, a rice and bean burrito without cheese. I received my second order, drove home and took a bite. This time, I had been given a rice, bean and cheese burrito. I understand mistakes happen, but when I came in the second time, I would have appreciated a little more effort to make sure the order was correct. I threw away the food since I have a dairy allergy as I was not about to go back a third time. Disappointing! :(
