Came here for lunch. The place was fairly busy but we were lucky to be seated right away. The place is cozy and clean, and the staff is friendly. We ordered thai teas to drink. For starters, we opted for the gyoza and seaweed salad. For our mains, we ordered the B.L.C and B.S.C.Thai Tea- Served ice cold. It was sweet and refreshing, with a rich tea flavor and a creamy finish. Gyoza- Nice crispy exterior and packed with a juicy meat filling. A great way to enhance our appetites before indulging in the mains.Seaweed Salad- This was a perfect blend of sweet, savory, and tangy. The seaweed has a crunchy texture and a refreshing finish. Perfect for a palate cleanser! The serving was also hefty. B.L.C.- I am a huge fan of langostino and it's not always offered on sushi menus so this was perfect. Rice was perfectly cooked and tender and the filling was generous.B.S.C.- This is a go to dish for me! The scallops were tender and cooked to perfection. It was loaded generously on the rolls and finished with a sweet and savory sauce.Great meal overall! Will definitely come back.

You can select either 2 or 6 pieces.Salmon Skin Hand RollI loved this one - stuffed with cucumber, sprouts, bonito flakes and shreds of salmon skin - I could snack on these forever. A bit hard to eat, but I don't mind pickup up the fallen flakes of skin. Crispy Rice with Spicy TunaWith eel sauce, spicy mayo, masago and green onion. It's a mouthful - bottomed with perfectly seared rice and topped with a huge dollop of spicy tuna. They pair together so well - in both flavor and textures.Cucumber SaladNot my favorite - a little too sweet and sour for me... I guess I'm used to cold and spicy. The super thin cuts are delicate to handle, but there's a lot of slices, so you end up picking up a bunch at a time. Wazabi Sushi is located close to Old Towne Orange, which is why I came to this joint while perusing in the area. I read some mixed reviews but I thought to myself, "Let's give it a try."The interior is a typical sushi restaurant, with a TV (Lakers were on, yay) and many booths and tables. Service was spectacular, everyone was kind and prompt. I took a while to order as the menu is extremely extensive. I got the halibut sushi (2pc) spicy scallop hand roll, oyster shooter, and Wazabi Wrap. Sadly, the fish here was not fresh. The scallop roll was okay, the spicy mayo did most of the flavoring so it was fine to eat. The halibut sushi..was not soft, and the rice was bland and kinda dry? The oyster shooter was honestly the best item. I tried to save the best for last... But it was the worst.... the wazabi sashimi wrap... The sauce of the dish is very salty, sweet, and creamy. It gets easily tiring. Salmon sashimi was decent. It could still flop and had some fat. The tuna, yellowtail, and albacore were frozen for sure. The texture of the fish just was not soft or tender. I removed them to further examine them and they were still a little frozen. At this point, I just didn't feel like eating anymore :( I try not to waste food but the texture and taste just made me feel sick. I didn't feel like I should send the food back since I messed up the whole plate but it's okay. Live and learn. I honestly believe that you could spend the same amount of money for way better quality. I wouldn't recommend this place until they upgrade their quality.

During the week, I was browsing Orange Circle and decided to grab a quick lunch at Wazbi Sushi. They pleasantly surprised me with their fresh and delicious roll, even though I didn't have any expectations. I also had the shishito peppers, which were tempura-battered and absolutely delicious. I loved the service, and the atmosphere and furnishings were perfect for creating a mix of modern comfort. Without a doubt, I would return to sample more of their cuisine.

The fish quality here is inconsistent. Sometimes it's good and fresh fish quality but other times it tastes kind of fishy and has an ocean taste. I usually Go for nigiri when I eat sushi so I can tell how good quality their fish can be because it's just fish and rice. If anything, the service here has always been consistently good. They're very attentive and they fill you water and clean up any dirty dishes off your table right away. One thing they do really well with is their vegetarian sushi. I'm in love with their vegetarian sushi. The shiitake mushroom one is amazing and so is their tofu dice and the new mr bean as well. If you have any plant based friends you gotta take them here for the vegetarian options!!!

FRESH SUSHI VIBES WAZABI ORANGE SUSHI | Old Town Orange, CALoved by locals but the the secret is out! Wazabi Sushi is the Japanese restaurant we need in our lives when we are in Old Town Orange. I loved the patio for being loud with friends or the inside when I need a intimate moment. The menu is crazy but when in doubt, ask the sushi chef and the servers what they recommend. I do not understand the hype of this place. I was planning to come here all day because of the wonderful reviews but left feeling disappointed.LOCATION & PARKING //Located in Old Towne Orange, it's right next to Snooze. They have a decently sized sign so I don't think you would miss it. There are a couple of designated parking spots next to the restaurant but you could also park on the street or park in the free parking structure (free for 3 hours) right across the way.FOOD //Between the two of us, we ordered:MISO SOUP 5/5: Honestly, this was probably the best part of the meal. I thought it was flavorful, light, but delicious. It came out right away and was a wonderful starter to the meal. Unfortunately, it goes downhill from there.SOFT SHELL CRAB 3/5: This was okay. The crab was fried pretty well and the crab itself was easy to eat. It came with 4 pieces, dipping sauce, and a side salad. While the crab was cooked well, I felt it was lacking in flavor. However, when I tried to dip it in the sauce, it became too salty. It made me not want to dip the crab in the sauce which kept it bland. COSMO 2/5: We didn't really enjoy this that much but ate it all. It felt overly saucy and the fish to rice ratio was bad. It honestly felt like I was just eating a rice ball dipped in sauce and crunchy onions. I wouldn't recommend it; I could barely taste the fish.QUARTET 3/5: This was better than the Cosmo but still not great. There was more fish in this roll but the rice wasn't soft so it almost tasted a bit stale.SERVICE //The service is also where it gets weird. We got here at 5pm (when they open) and all the food arrived in a timely manner and I didn't have any issues with that. My issue is how aggressive they were with how fast they cleared the table. It was too much. We would pick up the last piece and a server would immediately come and take it away without saying anything. It felt like they were rushing us during the meal and it was honestly pretty uncomfortable. Servers also stood right next to our table waiting for us to take the last piece so they could take our plates away. They gave us our check 30 minutes into our meal and completely stopped refilling our glasses of water.OVERALL // 2 starsI don't get how this place is really highly rated. Maybe we had an off day but for the price, I do not think this place is worth it - both the food and experience. I wouldn't return and I'd say skip this place.
