Wasa has always been consistent for me since coming years ago when I used to work down the street, great food, great service, and the bacon fried rice is amaaazing.Highlights of Wasa include the teppan - delicious food with a mini show. I usually come here for celebrations with friends and it's always a fun time eating around the hibachi grill with a variety of proteins and sides. Learned during my last visit that Tuesday's is Teppan Tuesdays. Only $24 for the steak dinner where we got soup/salad, prawn and scallop appetizer, bok choy (I think this was chef's choice, but honestly the highlight because I love bok choy), steak, fried rice and ice cream. Shout out to Ricky and Jake for taking care of us on the most recent visit! Favorite menu items include: lychee martini, deep fried baby octopus, and of course the bacon fried rice. The lunch specials here are also a great deal, I loved coming here during my lunch breaks because I could get great sushi for a good price near campus. Located in a well traversed plaza with plenty of parking. The interior is nice, clean with tables and the bar in the front, hibachi grill seating in the back. It is SO unassuming on the outside! I saw that they have specials everyday, I definitely recommend for a date night, casual night, celebration, or lunch. I feel like there's something for everyone and every occasion at Wasa.

So so experience at our first visit at this popular place in bison shopping plaza. The place was pretty packed at 8 pm on Saturday night. All the tapenyaki seats were taken so we got a booth. It took about 15 minutes before we got service at our table. Ordered some appetizers, a few sushi rolls the cucumber salad and the tempura udon. Most came out fairly quickly but it took a good 25-30mins for udon to arrive. Not crazy about the decor and ambiance of this place.

Don't order take out from here. They will give you bad fish. The fish at the bar is ok, not great. The pic is $20 of Toro. I did't even eat it because it looks so bad.

Wasa has a large menu with a variety of yummy dishes. They offer a small selection of creative rolls and a large selection of standard sushi rolls. Unique to Wasa are their "Treasures" which are basically nigiri with special sauces and toppings. We tried a few of the Treasures and all were delicious. You get 2 pieces of nigiri with each Treasure order. You can also order regular nigiri both off their menu and they have a dry erase board on the wall listing their fresh fish/specials. What I liked about their nigiri was that it had fun toppings too that paired nicely with the fish. Service was outstanding! Jake was our waiter and he was very attentive and knew the menu well when we had questions.

If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions: do NOT eat here.Prior to ordering. I politely but throughly explained to both our hostess and server that I was "deathly allergic to dairy, and will die", and even specified "no mayo, no cheese, no creamy sauce that contains dairy or any sort of milk product." Our sashimi (see photo) was pretty good...not holy-wow status, but still enjoyable. And then...then I was almost poisoned.I believe it was the blue crab roll that my date and I were halfway through consuming, when our waitress shyly shuffled over."Umm...so that roll actually has dairy in it..."As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I was shocked by both this occurrence, as well as this restaurant's response. When I was a hostess who booked reservations at several different spots, we went as far as writing down allergy info in our "notes" section for guests. While I remained pleasant about the whole situation, I also re-articulated the potential severity. The manager may have peeked his head our way, but no one made an effort to compensate the fact that their negligence could have killed me.Wasa's way of apologizing...They deducted the blue crab roll from our recipe.(!&@#?!) Miso disappointed. Again, I write this as a former employee of many restaurants. Allergies and healthy/safety are--or should be--the top priorities for any food service.Beyond that, I didn't appreciate the way their mistake was handled. I've worked in establishments where the entire meal would be comped (and even a gift card provided). Wasa is like a bad date: you can definitely do better. Just keep swimming...

Perfect Pear martini = one of the best cocktails I've ever had! Our steak, chicken, scallops, and prawns were perfectly cooked and the fried rice is out of this world! The staff were all friendly & hilarious and the restaurant had a great vibe (also TVs for you sports lovers)! Will definitely be coming back to this gem of a restaurant!

Have had both the sushi and the teppan here and both were amazing experiences! The food is delicious and high quality, the drinks are yummy and pretty, and the servers are friendly and attentive! This time around we had the omakase set from Taka and it was one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had! Each piece was so different, yet each as scrumptious as the last, and the server, Misaki, even kindly talked us through each piece. The cocktails were also so yummy. Will surely be back again!
