Chicken katsu curry w/ egg - Everything was good. Portions are great. No need for large as I could barely finish it. Chicken cooked perfectly Rice cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot. Will come again. 9 out of 10. Only reason it wasn't a 10 was because they don't have spicy rather you can add "spicy powder" to your dish.

Very quaint and authentic feel japanese restaurant specializing in katsu curry dishes! The interior is on the smaller side, so parties no larger than four are ideal for this restaurant. You will find on their menu that they have many different options to choose from. Service was friendly and quick.Their portions are massive. My partner and I got a large chicken katsu plate to share and they definitely don't skimp out, especially on the curry. My friend got the regular size and even then he was getting very full, as the plates are quite big.Chicken Katsu Curry (4/5): This is a very solid place to get katsu curry. The curry is on the sweeter side with a more liquidy texture than thick. I found that the curry could've had a bit more flavor in depth to it, but it was still very good! There was quite a bit of oil that you could see at the top and around the rim of the curry-- it's already not the healthiest dish but I do think the separation of all the oil suggested there was too much grease in the curry itself. Chicken katsu was also made well and I liked the texture of the breading, though I think it could've been a bit more moist and seasoned too. Overall, this is a very solid place to go for a katsu craving and I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for an authentic and hearty meal.

this place has been in my bookmarks for quite awhile now, and i finally got the chance to try it the other day when grabbing dinner with a friend. tokyo katsu curry is located in a pretty small and hidden plaza so the parking lot is relatively small but i didn't have an issue finding parking on a friday night. the restaurant is reallly small and quaint, with about 4 tables to the right and bar seating for about 4-5 on the left. we were seated and attended to immediately, and the waiter was very kind and had good customer service. he gave us some time to browse the menu, which was pretty simple. it was basically curry with rice or noodles, and there are an assortment of toppings you can choose from.i went with the chicken katsu curry which i added spinach to. i wasn't asked what spice level i wanted so i didnt know they had different spices to choose from. we were informed that the stove was having issues and just starting to heat up so it may take another 15 minutes for our order to come out, but even then we didn't wait too long. my dish came with a good amount of chicken katsu spread across the bed of rice, and the curry was a deep rich brown color with spinach speckled throughout. i personally felt like the chicken katsu, although very moist, could be a little crispier and wasn't as hot as i thought it would be. the curry was also not as flavorful as some other curry places, so it was a bit bland and i had to add spice to it myself. and im not sure if it was the spinach or the curry itself, but it tasted a little off to me. there was a certain amount of bitterness in the curry that i wasn't particularly fond of. i also wish they had the pickled radishes at the table rather than serving it as part of the dish, as i enjoy adding as much as i want to eat with the curry. i did like that they offered bottles of the katsu sauce at each table though.overall it is a decent curry place. the service is good and the food comes out pretty quick but i wouldn't say this is my favorite or go to curry place in oc.

There was no wait to get seated and the service was fast. I tried the sukiyaki beef curry and pork katsu curry with omelette. I recommend adding a bit of spicy to the curry as it tastes sweeter without any spice. The portion was filling and good. Would be back again.

I was looking for a place to eat in the area and saw Tokyo Katsu Curry at the corner of my eye.I came here with one other person for lunch on a weekend. There was one other party there but it wasn't busy at all. The restaurant itself is pretty small and very casual. The staff there are really nice and helpful. I shared the pork katsu curry plate with one other person. It came with curry, the perfectly fried pork katsu on top of a bed of rice. It was delicious. The katsu was perfectly fried and seasoned right. The rice and curry were also so good. The curry went with the katsu well. And I am glad we shared because a plate is pretty big. We only paid about $23 for both of us. Besides the different types of katsu plates, they also had ramen and udon. I do want to come back and try their other dishes. I definitely recommend if you are craving something affordable and love katsu or curry.

Hidden gem alert! Not only it tastes authentic, they are really good and I can't wait to come back. The pork Katsu is juicy and curry is not too overpowering. I ordered the nonspicy one , but it doesn't give me a bland flavor like other places I've been too.The place is small and intimate, reminds me of most restaurants in Japan. The staff are nice and fast as well. Highly recommend to try this hidden gem!

Very casual, cozy feel. Menu is very focused on curry, didn't fully look before. Service was polite, friendly, attentive. If you want simple solid curry, a solid choice. I think I might still prefer the Mitsuwa food court's one but that one trades no egg part for a salad and the curry does taste slightly different. This is a specialty shop and I was interested and my expectations fluctuated before I ate but it is a decent option! The meat portion on the katsu was very large!! So that is a better option in some ways!

There are plenty of parkings outside. There isn't much seatings inside, but I got there around 6:30 and there was no wait.I got the chicken katsu curry udon and the chicken katsu curry rice. The udon texture was very chewy and addicting. The taste is excellent and customizable with the powder they provided. I would recommend to try!

The place is small, but service is FAST! I went first thing when they opened and there were 4 other parties there. The restaurant has a few tables and a bar table against the table. Once we placed our order, it only took a little over maybe 5-ish minutes before we got served. Food tasted great. No complaints on my end!
