As I'm sitting here, waiting for my delicious food to arrive at my table, I was just thinking that I can't believe I haven't reviewed one of my favorite places to eat.Not only does this place serve up amazing vegan Vietnamese food, but it is just all around an amazing Vietnamese food.My go to is usually the vermicelli rice bowl (massive) and/or pho and when we order food to go we usually order food for a couple of days because, really, the price also can't be beat. Oh, another great staple is their fried rice. It's a small place with a few tables inside and it seems like a family affair with maybe one in the front one in the back cooking. The service is quick and kind.Whatever they are doing I hope they keep doing it because I love coming here. The only downside is they are not open for lunch.

They open 5 hours a day 3:30pm-8:30pm daily except Tuesday. Serving vegetarian Vietnamese cuisine. We got sweet and sour tamarind soup ($10.95)Fish clay pot ($10.95). You could also get egg plant or tofu. This comes out sizzling hot. Banana flower salad ($9.95) it's the same banana flower used in bun Bo hue. This salad is refreshing with the fish sauce. As far as Vietnamese vegetarian dishes, I don't find this place any different than the temple or any other Viet vegetarian restaurant in OC. But the service, freshness, quickness and prices were all outstanding.

If you're looking for Vegetarian Vietnamese food this is definitely a go to. We came on Lunar New Years with a party of 6 and everything was delicious. Pricing is very reasonable but I will say dishes are on the smaller side so that makes sense. These are the items I tried out.Egg Rolls - Delicious, would recommend as an appetizer. It's crispy. (4.5/5)Garlic Chicken - Got this recommendation via yelp and didn't disappoint. The fake chicken tasted great. Would recommend (5/5)Sweet and Sour Soup - It's a bit on the lighter side but it was okay. Not bad but not special either. (3.5/5)Thai Vegetable Curry - This one is honestly a pass. It's nothing special, but its not bad either. Pass on the Thai food at a Vietnamese place. (3/5)Clay Pot Sensation - LOVED THIS, everything stayed warm and we got this wish fish. Flavor was great and it was just delicious. (5/5)Crispy Fish - This was bomb, thought it didn't come like super hot, more like warm. Flavors were good and I enjoyed it overall. (4/5).Rice was $2 per bowl but overall we spent about $82 for 6 people which isn't bad. The service was good and super friendly. Everyone gave it a thumbs up so pretty solid spot if you need Vegetarian/Vegan food!

What a time was had at this small mom and pop shop. My family and I wanted a good Vegan spot that wasn't super oily and processed so we settled here after learning they had pretty good looking spring rolls (it's one of the only things my toddler wants to eat right now) and boy are we glad we came. Immediately walking in you feel like you're at home. Small, cozy setting, Vietnamese decor, a man and (maybe?) his wife are there to greet you. Right away we felt comfortable. Looking at the menu I honestly didn't realize it was all vegan by the names of the dishes but after I got confirmation I eyes opened wide.I ended up going with the vermacelli bowl which brought a smile to my face with every bite. The "fish" sauce wasn't too sour, salty or anything. Very balanced! That's hard to find. It had mint and other fresh veggies which brought out the freshness and even had slices of MANGO! That was a big surprise for me but they were more on the unripe side so the shreds had a bit of crunch as they left the skin on and not too much sweetness to throw off the flavor. I was not a fan of the eggroll it comes with as it's just too fried for my liking. Wonder if I can request a spring roll on the side instead? My wife got the royal noodle soup. The flavor was amazing, definitely had a little spice in there even though she asked for a 3/10 on the spicy scale so be mindful if you want mild you might just have to say 1 or 2!Portion sizes were all fantastic. Not too much, not too little. Even treated ourselves to the flan for dessert which made my wife's eyes roll to the back of her head it was so good. Besides the dessert our main course was ONLY $35!!!! That fed 2 adults and 2 toddlers! That was the cherry on top! On top of that he threw in a FREE BOWL OF CHOW MEIN for the babies!10/10 would recommend this spot and we will be back.

Came with a vegetarian person or else I would never have tried this place, but glad I did. Very affordable and has a home cooked feel to each dish. Close location to Garden Amphitheatre so we stopped for a quick bite here before the show. Vegetarian bun bo hue was surprisingly good, loaded with ingredients and noodles on point. It's not going to be exactly the same but I do understand what they were going for. Comes with "beef" seitan, tofu and thinly sliced king oyster mushrooms I was full to the brim from a regular size bowl of noodle soup and a couple egg rolls. Egg rolls were fired crisp and came with mint and lettuce to help balance out the fried heat, recommend side to go with you meal.

Love this hole in the wall restaurant in Anaheim. I'm Vietnamese and with Little Saigon nearby in OC, you really have to be at the top of your game if you want to impress me. Thuyen vien manages to do that. Despite many Vietnamese people being Vegetarian or even Vegan, there actually aren't that many restaurants that cater to the non-meat customer. And when they do exist, it's sometimes quite hard for a restaurant to replicate the complex and intricate Vietnamese flavors (many derived from fish sauce) without using any meat or meat products. So that being said, my girlfriend and I have been to Thuyen Vien a couple times and we love everything about it. It's small and intimate and usually not too crowded. The food is phenomenal. We've had almost everything on the menu and it's all fantastic. The flavors are authentic and delicious. I like the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy "Beef" Noodle soup...not pho...but his cooler more robust older brother) while my girlfriend likes the Bo Luc Lac (Shaky "Beef"). We've also had the bo bia ("Beef" meatball spring rolls) and the fried tofu and they're both favorites of mine as well. The owner/cashier of the restaurant is super nice. I highly recommend you come here next time you're in Anaheim or in the mood for good Vegan food.

This is one of Anaheim's gems. Every single item I've tried here has blown me away as a non-vegan person. I almost always get the vegetable curry with eggplant, and the spice level can be adjusted to liking. This time I ordered the Kung pow chicken, but my go to is usually garlic chicken. I also always have to get that fried tofu, it is almost like a vegan Chicharron!! I usually ask for extra lemons and squeeze the lemons into the lemon pepper powder. That's given with the tofu.Service is great as well. The owner is incredibly friendly as well. Unless it's extremely busy, I usually don't wait too long for my food. The interior is like a typical cozy hole-in-the-wall. They're located in a plaza with parking in the front, the side and the back.

This place always hits the spot! Decent portions with great prices. The happy staff keeps the experience positive. Amazing menu. Oddly, they have the best vegan flan I've ever tasted! Not what you would expect at a Vietnamese restaurant.

This would be my choice of a last meal, for lack of better words! The tofu, garlic "chicken", and rice here are insane!!!This "chicken" is better than any vegetarian chicken, heck, better than any real chicken I've ever had. The restaurant is small and unsuspicious of being home to the best meal. The owner is so sweet. The service is always top notch! Always clean and enjoyable to dine at! Most underrated spot!
