Enjoyed a wonderful evening at a company event. The sunset was beautiful! It was a private event and we had a special menu. I have a very unique allergy and they were wonderful. They were able to accommodate me and made sure I enjoyed my dinner. The food was wonderful, great portion sizes and solid flavor.

Great service and delicious food. Beautiful view. Valet only. We had a good time. We told my in laws we were expecting our baby here. We filmed their reaction and everything! I'm docking two stars off for one reason. When we got seated, I had a sudden realization that my mother in law loves to sit by the window, which I forgot to request prior to booking the reservation over the phone. We had asked if we could move by the window, but the host shared that it was "reserved". The entire time we ate, dined, and finished, no one ever sat at that table. This made me pretty disappointed in their customer service. One simple accommodation would have made it a 5 star experience!I still recommend this place, but I probably won't ever make reservations here in the future.

This is a wonderful spot with a great menu! We came for lunch and were seated by a window with a lovely view of the marina. We ordered some appetizers and drinks for brunch, including the BBQ grilled oysters, calamari, and their house Bloody Mary with the cutest garnish! I loved my drink and the apps were delicious! For my entree, I ordered the chicken and waffles. The gravy was to die for and I loved the addition of the bacon. The portion sizes here are gigantic so you'll definitely have leftovers! We got the banana sundae to share amongst 4 and it was huge but very good.Love David Wilhelm's restaurants and would return here again!

Visiting family in the OC we met up at this local favorite. Got there early and let me tell you it fills up fast even on a Monday evening. We were walk ins when they opened at 4:00pm and it filled up fast. So good to see this for a local business who has a great local following. Sat at a window booth with beautiful views of the harbor and sunset. Great ambience and decor, would definitely come back again for a seat at the bar.Christian our waiter displayed his best qualities of charm, knowledge and suggestions on menu preferences, and none disappointed us.Started with a bottle of The Prisoner ( last bottle in the house) and the Tuna Poke on wontons with mango avocado-Don't miss out on the French onion soup it was delizioso, followed up by the French Dip. Had a square of the flatbread featuring zuccini blossom.Food came out hot and plenty of deliciousness to go around, couldn't finish the French dip but will make a great snack for later or lunch tomorrow. All and all Tavern House has a new regular when we are taking time out in OC.Well done staff, food, libations, decor and location.Don't miss out on this local establishment and great for a harbor view for that special occasion and that special someone.Grazie

Beautiful view and great service. There's indoor and outdoor seatings but if you want to watch the sunset on the water-opt for outdoor; they also allow pets with patio seating. The restaurant is located upstairs but if you're in a wheelchair, it can be a bit complicated because they have this self/restaurant operated lift/elevator that the hostess has to unlock and manually send it down and such.We ordered the French onion, crab/lobster lunch sandwich and the Chilean Sea-bass. All was scrumptious. I normally don't like onion soup but this is by far the best. We also got their mousse pate but I wouldn't recommend it-it had a sweet taste to it which isn't my preference when I'm eating pate.

I came to the Tavern House Kitchen with my team from work and we had a great time! The service was excellent, our waiter was very attentive throughout our dinner, and provided some good recommendations for meals and drinks. The menu has a lot to choose from, we started with the Town Dock Calamari, the Spicy Ahi Poke (which wasn't too spicy), and the brussels sprouts which were excellent. For my entree, I went with the recommendation of the Pan Roasted Chilean Sea Bass which was excellent. I really like the venue, it's chill but still upscale enough to enjoy it. There is a nice view of the harbor and plenty of seating.Overall great dining experience in Newport, glad we ended up here!

*Whose House? Tavern's House*First of all, I'd like to give props and commend the entire team for outstanding & friendly customer service. It's seems to be a lost art these days and Tavern House Kitchen has some serious game. From the way Alex handles phonecalls (heard a great Steely Dan song while on hold which never happens) to everyone in the entire house...and the awesome guys in the front yard navigating valet service. Also want to extend a round of applause to Amanda for going above & beyond. Because once I got home and realized I forgot a pair of glasses on our table? AMANDA-TO-THE-RESCUE. It was a busy Saturday night and our lovely waitress, Brie, was slammed, but she handled everything with style & grace at our cozy & quiet corner booth. And she worked with me throughout the evening, when I mentioned I'd be taking dinner to-go for wifey back at home. The buss team followed everyone's lead serving & clearing plates and making sure our h2o glasses remained full. One of my all-time favorite appetizers is Calamari, but prefer round rings & tentacles, so when I saw & read that THK serves flat pieces, I was a little apprehensive because it's usually tough & chewy -- which was not the case here. It was so soft & tender and the perfect consistency, I was able to cut some of the larger pieces in half with a fork. The spicy mayo style sauce was Fantastico too. My only gripe is it'd be nice to see a few more pieces of Calamari on homeplate -- especially when I opted to share some with my teammates ;-)I'm a sucker for Petrale Sole Almandine, and THK cooked up & served me some of THE very best. The portion size was plentiful and appreciated how they stacked the pieces of sole to lift & fuel my soul, because Patrale is a thinner grade of fish, and the thicker bites made my tastebuds & tummy feel right. I prefer roasted potatoes but their mashed pots were executed & prepared perfecto. And the green beans? They were extremely fresh, crisp and sweet. Some of my dining companions mentioned they thought it was "undercooked" but not me. I enjoy my green beans and veggies the most al dente. Everything on my plate was so damn good I didn't want it to end. Everyone else throughly enjoyed their dinners & Maine Lobster Bisques: Like Father like son ~~ Dad loved his Sole too :-)Stepmom & Dad's BF: Buttermilk Fried Chicken (THK's house special) which is not your typical comfort food here -- it's two big thick chicken breast cutlets, fried golden brown. I desperately wanted to ask for a bite but bit my lip to resist. Stepmom's BF: Salmon Salad was a very large and impressive center-cut that she enjoyed. The son of a BF: BBQ Spiced Salmon that was happily devoured before I was halfway done with my dinner. Last but not least...and rounding the bases, Wifey was deliciously delighted with her Petrale Sole too...and so was I the next day with the double-header left-overs :-) For dessert we all shared: {{{DRUMROLL PLEASE}}}THE Bananarama: Pecan Ice Cream, Candied Pecans, Toffee Crumbles, Banana Pastry Cream, Fresh Bananas, Salty Caramel Sauce. Believe it or not, it was not as SWEET as it sounds and it was tripleD-lish & OUTSTANDING period. It's like a banana cream pie caramel sundae. And it's a good thing there was 4 of us sharing this large dessert because I could've eaten more :-) And thankfully, 2 sat this one out -- but one ordered their own cheesecake and loved it.The lighting throughout the restaurant is just right and so is the causal decor & vibe. Our elevated booth was so comfy it's easy to dine & linger...and even though I wasn't paying much attention to the games on the flatscreen TV's, I glanced every now & then. Like a professional athlete who takes the time studying game films and their upcoming opponent, I researched & studied Tavern House Kitchen prior to the first pitch...and couldn't be more satisfied with the outcome and memorable dining experience with family & friends..and look forward to another trot around the bases with Wifey. {{{Big-High-Five}}}Walk-off Grandslam Fan for Life

On a recent trip to Newport Beach, my boss told me he was tired of Nobu and challenged me to find something he'd like better. Fully convinced that both my job and my reputation were on the line, I aggressively researched all options before landing on Tavern House.Spoiler: I was triumphant. From the moment we walked in, the staff were each more pleasant than the last - from the hostesses who knew we were visiting from NC to the absolutely tremendous Nori, we felt cared for and welcomed. The wine list was one of the better curated lists I've seen recently - was absolutely tickled to see my favorite Orin Swift in the bottles (8 Years in the Desert) plus his Prisoner by the glass. We landed on Austin Hope as the ideal complement to our dinners. We started with the barbecued chipotle bourbon oysters, which were *amazing* (and as the thing that made me choose the restaurant initially, they lived up). Around the table, we had the Kurobuta double-cut pork chop, the prime rib dip, the seafood special I forgot, and my own French Onion filet. That filet was the best damn steak I have EVER had. It combined all the wonderful elements of classic French Onion soup with a perfectly seared filet. With frites, y'all!!! We also shared an order of the charred Brussels sprouts, which were also fantastic. Somehow, we saved enough room to risk ordering dessert: a key lime pie martini (dubbed "proper delicious"), the carrot cake (fine. It's dessert laced with vegetables, so), and - drumroll - Bananaggedon. I would come back for that alone and I'm not even a banana fan. So ridiculously over-the-top and easily served our table of four. Even those more excited for carrot cake quickly abandoned that plate in favor of this. Meanwhile, we had a lovely view of the water - complete with fireworks over the Bay! The restaurant was fully decorated for the holidays but I imagine it would have been equally cozy and welcoming even without the seasonal additions. All told, this meal easily crossed into my top 3 for 2024, even accounting for recency bias. It's now a must-visit for every future work trip (we even added it as a top choice in the guidebook we give all visiting execs).

I finished off my day last week with a hot bowl of soup and a drink. Tavern House is a great place to relax after work and watch the boats in the harbor. The ambiance is truly one of a kind, and the service is amazing. Our waitress Nori was very nice and professional. She has a warm personality and made us feel right at home. Im so glad this place is on my way home from work. Nori is amazing and always makes my day.
