A stand-alone little Mexican restaurant that had a nice little lunch rush when I came here. I always follow the crowd cause if it's busy you know it's gotta be good. There is inside and outdoor seating but mostly people were taking their food to go. They have all the classic dishes from tacos to plates and some food I have never heard of but that shows authenticity. Most of their main seafood section becomes available only either for the weekend or the summer time. I got their carne asada combination with rice and beans. It was simple, good and did the job. Nothing fancy but if you're craving a quick meal in the area this place is decent.

Taqueria El Amigo is definitely a hidden Gem My two favorite things here are the menudo, and the carne asada fries! Also the red homemade salsa is so delicious if you're feeling spontaneous ask for the El Amigo Burger, it's not on the menu but it's honestly amazing. They have a drive thru which makes it very convenient. I recommend this to everyone.

Came in today because my daughter likes this place. The cashier girl welcomes me in Spanish so I ordered a Hamburguesa plain. So she then says in English oh a hamburger. I say yes, plain. Well we got the burger but it had cheese so I ask the other girl I ordered it plain no cheese. So she goes back and says oh when you order it as a cheeseburger plain it still comes with cheese. I said no I ordered a hamburger plain not a cheese burger. So the original girl who took my order comes and talks to the girl and says." Well she ordered and cheeseburger but that's ok." Uhh no I ordered a HAMBURGER PLAIN. I even said it in Spanish and English. So then I told her no I didn't and my Husband even told her that I ordered a hamburger plain not a cheeseburger plain. Like come on

The food is good, especially the enchilada plate. Staff is pleasant enough.Parking can be a problem. There is a line of spaces beside the drive through lane. If there are cars in the drive through, it's not possible to back out of those parking slots. The annoyance that lost them a star is the 79 cents they charge to use a card to pay. They -- don't -- note this charge on the receipt. Why not? On a $10 order, if they're really paying 8% in card fees, they need to get another credit card processor. OK, 79 cents is not going to kill me. (Tho I could drive one block east and get a wider selection, better parking and no add on at Boys Hamburgers--and I often have.) But not putting that fee on the receipt bothers me.

This is a small place but food is pretty good parking is a bit small. Definitely recommend the barbacoa with consomé (meat, tortilla and a yummy broth). I also recommend the carne asada huaraches and the tacos. The cool thing about this place is they have a drive thru.

First Impressions: Taqueria El Amigo is a hidden gem. This quaint family owned Mexican restaurant has the highest quality meat in Santa Ana and their staff will welcome you like family. For all the old reviews check them out again they've updated their menu, and have welcomed new staff members.Food: As a SoCal native I've eaten a lot of tacos. Only one restaurant in California has ever brought me back to the beaches of Puerto Vallarta. It was a beautiful day I had just jumped out of the water where I had been snorkeling. They had fresh steak on the grill and handmade tortillas. There have been two meals as memorable as that one: Chef Ramsey's hamburgers and moms Salisbury steak. One bite of Taqueria El Amigo's Asada taco and I was laying on the sand under the sun never knowing cow could taste so good again. Their meat is lean, tender, juicy, and seasoned with love. It's the kind of food that honors animals sacrifice, and speaks to the passion of the chef.Ambiance: this is a quaint restaurant located adjacent to a neighborhood. They have several booths and tables which can accommodate family dining, and a drive thru if you're on the go. They also have a salsa bar which hosts a variety of fresh salsas with various degrees of heat. Customer Service: Members of the staff include: mom, dad, siblings, and daughters. They will welcome you like a member of family. They are friendly, attentive, and always in a great mood. Liz one of the cashiers is just the sweetest person; every time I see her she asks about my family and is always smiling and laughing. They prepare food promptly, correctly (I the nightmare customer am kosher, lactose intolerant, and gluten free), and check in regularly.Value: This place is a steal. They've made a point to offer high quality ingredients for lunch time prices. Overall: I love Taqueria El Amigo and I'm sad to see they're not getting the acclaim or attention they deserve. I spoke to a member of the staff about their reviews because I was so surprised and they told me that they hear their customers and have made changes accordingly. Old reviewers I implore you to give them another shot, and new customers their meat is so good you have to try it!

I've been regular at this place since I work around the area and I've always ordered the same thing but for some reason their food quality keeps getting worse I use to enjoy and rave about coming here but even the customer service is bad I had to return my food because it had no flavor and the cashier with the glasses insisted that it's not them and the guy in the back also gave an attitude saying this is the second time you complain and I had to let him know it wasn't me who was complaining and I had to let him know regardless if I complain or not your job is to make my experience much better I am a consumer and the girl decided to say well we can refuse service ?!!! So because I made a complain about my food that I payed for she can't receive constructive criticism I didn't even want to get a refund I was willing to change my food to something more tastier but she made it worse so I will be going to the better business bureau if by the next time I come back it's not better please guys your restaurant has so much potential. And to the business owner lady that wears a high pony tail and is always smiling this had nothing to do with you every time you've attended my family and i everything was great thank you .

I have been coming here with my family ever since I was a kid and their food has always tasted great. I enjoy eating the guache De pastor and the guache De chorizo. Their tortas are really good too but I wish they would add more meat to the barbacoa they only give you a little bit.
