Tamales Irma

Been dying to try this spot for years but they close at 10:30am so the timing never works out. Well today, it did. I caught them right before closing so they were sold out of everything except pork and chicken. That's good enough for me! The pork was wrapped in banana leaf and that kept it super moist. Flavor was really good. The chicken was wrapped normally and it wasn't as moist but still good. The flavor is so good. All in all this is my new go to spot.

THE BEST tamales and arroz con leche. There is a large variety of tamales including sweet tamales. The chicken are not spicy at all and I'm a bigger fan of the tamales de platano. The owner is kind enough to prepare them for you with crema and salsa which I absolutely love. The line can get long sometimes so I like to go early. He only has a limited supply of each item so don't miss out. The owner is so friendly and recognizes his regular which I find very endearing. Come check out the best tamal stand in Santa Ana!

During the holidays my wife really wanted some tamales for Christmas dinner since our plans changed last minute. Searching through yelp, i found Tamales Irma so i decided to give it a try. In my search it was hard to determine if the other reviews for other places were for the tamales or for other items on the menu. Ended up going on Christmas eve, early in the morning when they opened thinking that it was going to be pretty busy and they would sell out. Ordered the chicken and pork tamales in both the corn husk and banana leaf wrappers. Overall flavors were good but i found that the banana leaf wrapped ones had more moisture and the corn husk ones to be a little dry. The filling and masa ratio was ok but again, I though the banana leaf ones had a better ratio. The tamales also came with a salsa which i thought was excellent and had a good kick. Overall i would recommend this place especially since they are a small business which just focuses on tamales.

The tamales from this business are really fabulous. They are wrapped in banana leaves - thinner than most tamales - which we all loved - and moist and flavorful. For our Christmas Eve dinner, we got the chicken, pork, jalapeno & cheese, and pineapple tamales. The salsa that comes with them (for purchase) is very hot, but incredibly flavorful. Everyone loved the food!! This is a food truck.....finding the truck was easy and they 2 men working the truck were efficient and nice. I highly recommend!

First time trying and will definitely be back! I'm an avid tamale lover and this place didn't disappoint. I tried the chicharon, rajas con queso, and Pollo. They were wrapped in banana leaves, had plenty of meat, and the masa was flavorful. The guy I interacted with was so very nice and gave me a free corn tamale to try. It was delicious!!!! Most certainly give this spot a try and support your small businesses! This one is worth it!

4 stars for being satisfying, not overly masa-y, tender, and cheap!======Apparently, they weren't at their usual stop because they were on vacation. I was messaged this after my review was posted, but it would have been nice to know this on their main website or something of the sort. Besides the miscommunication, their tamales are quite yummy.I have this thing where I throw away a lot of the carby part of anything because I don't work out. I'll tend to eat the filling, or rip off the doughy bits of things because I just don't want to put in the extra effort to burn some calories lol This doesn't happen there.$8 for 3 banana leaf tamales (1 pork, chicken, and chili cheese), and one normal chicken tamale. The salsa they provide is "fire" hahaIn regards to size, it's slightly more than a snack, not a meal. Two will get you full, but one will more than satisfy. The chili cheese is prolly my favorite because the surprise tomato was really nice. You don't tend to find that in these types. As for the the chicken, it was tender, but didn't have complete resistance to a fork. I still enjoyed this one.Their salsa is quite flavorful and has a bit of a kick to it. It's quite colorful, with red, green, and brown things floating around. Probably one of the more better salsas I've had.Service was quick and friendly. I paid with cash and was handed my bag of goodies immediately. English was spoken, though the menu is in Spanish.

Was jonesing for tamales. Well, this showed up on my search.I am a serious fan of these Tomales.I was kind of late but the TomLes in Banana leaves were absolutely amazing.I will be back, Will recommend to anyone, and look forward to enjoying them again.Don't forget to Chile sauce.Good, great, and just what I was jonesing for!!!

Tamales Irma is a hidden gem of tamale gold in the city of Santa Ana. I went Saturday morning to hopefully get my hands on some delicious tamales because some of the reviews alluded to tamales being first come first serve. I think for the holidays you could order ahead of time but I didn't have time to try this. Nonetheless, luck was on my side because I was able to buy chicken and pork, banana leaf wrapped, tamales. Flavor: the masa melts in your mouth, the meat seasoning/flavor taste authentic and the clearly homemade salsa adds an extra hint of spice.Location: Great spot in the community with ample parking, the Yelp direction is accurate, it takes you to the exact spot of their tamale truck. Service: Friendly and efficient. You can pay in cash, Venmo, or Zelle. Overall: I'm so happy I was able to try Tamales Irma. I'll be taking these tamales to a potluck and I am sure they will be a hit. I can't wait to be back to Tamales Irma and try different flavors.
