Tacos & Carnitas Pepe’s

5 stars only for the breakfast burrito and the mulitas they have there. A Good spot but a tad pricey for the rest of the food they have. At least $3 more expensive than it should be. It wouldn't be an issue but the portions are not reflective of the price.

Their carnitas tacos are the best tacos in costa mesa. They are authentic and delicious.

I see this place has good reviews. With so many Mexican food options nearby, I think I will pass on this one. Cockroach infestation is not something I take lightly.

Wonderful service here!! You always know what you're gonna get, amazing authentic Mexican cuisine. I go here at least once a month and I ALWAYS order the asada quesadilla. It's very competitively priced and the flavor is off the charts. I recommend this spot to everyone looking for affordable Mexican food in Costa Mesa!

The girl at the register was super helpful with suggestions and helping me customize everything in my order. We tend to have a lot of customizations and sometimes places forget or they don't care to make sure it's correct. I appreciated that this place did. She was so considerate of my family and it's greatly appreciated. The food was delicious and we loved everything. We ordered the steak quesadilla, three tacos, a chorizo burrito, an egg and cheese burrito, everything tasted great.

Average food for way above average prices in a dumpy atmosphere. Never going back. I do not need 85 characters to pan this place.

There's a first for everything right? Al pastor is by far my favorite and decided to give this place a try since it's close to where I live. Got an Al pastor torta since I saw someone post a picture on here saying it was bomb. Got home and open it up to see well... it's clearly carnitas they put Al pastor or al pastor like seasoning on. I definitely ate it and it was pretty good. Not amazing. But come on.... Don't call it something it's not. Part of why I like Al pastor is because it's not shredded. This is just lazy. Either serve Al pastor or dont serve a fake version of it at all.

Went a second time and updating my review as both times I have gone my order has been completed incorrectly (which I realize I didn't mention in my initial review as I was trying to be mindful that they had just opened days before). I called to place an order for taquitos, 8 tacos (2 with just cilantro and no onions) and a side of rice the other day. I went in and picked up my order and every taco had onions on it (w/ very little cilantro) and there was no side of rice included. A huge part of accepting orders (over the phone or in person) is ensuring that the order you are handing off to your customer is correct. I shouldn't have to check each item before I leave to make sure its right.I think I saw them take my order to the back once they realized it might have been made incorrectly but I feel like they thought it was too much work to fix (taking the onions off) so they left it. At the end of the day, not a huge deal. Grateful for warm food and tasty dinner but just something to be mindful of when ordering!

This is the place!!So many Mexican places on Westside Costa Mesa, but most of them very mediocre. Nothing special. But then there's Pepe's! Whoa!! My fav is the Carne Asada Wet Burrito with green sauce. Mmmmm. Good pricing tooLove this place

I recently tried Pepes, and although they don't have a taco Tuesday special, I ordered some fish and shrimp tacos for the family and it was fabulous. Will definitely be going back. If you're a fish, shrimp/taco fan you got to give it a try. very hearty tacos and quality food. John.
