Southern Hemisphere Wine Center

We discovered Southern Hemisphere Wine Center when my Husband was searching for a local retailer of Chilean Wine. While in Chile, we were referred to a wonderful winery, which we toured and enjoyed a tasting and lunch. SHWC is close to our home, so no shipping charges!! Hooray!I bought some wine yesterday and John assisted me. He explained the difference between "Reserva" and "Grand Reserva." He was helpful, knowledgeable, and even assisted me with carrying the box out to my car. Good prices and a wonderful selection of Chilean, South African, New Zealand, Australian, & Argentinean wines. I typically go to Costco and chat with the "Costco Sommelier," as I call him. He has helped me select wines as I have been lost in the wine isles at Costco previously. But at SHWC, I found my new "Sommelier," John, who shared the ratings of the wines and even info about cooking with wine. There were no Costco crowds to deal with! I did not have to wait in line! Hooray!So, off I went with my bottles of wine, which will make excellent gifts for my relatives. Thanks for all you do, John and SHWC. Here's an idea: Open up at tasting room at your center!! Thank you! We will be back again (not that we drink that much... it's our relatives that we typically purchase wine for. ) :-)

Such an awesome Place. They've been here a long time I feel like I really got some one-on-one information and awesome recommendations. I'll follow this review with how amazing the wines were with the brisket that I ate with them.

Greg gave us such good advice. We were buying early for corporate holiday gifts. Had a lot of fun matching wines to personalities. Highly recommended.

I discovered this little in the whole wall place. While looking for a special wine.. no one in Orange County sold this wine..but I found it here. It's a cool little place. The 2 guys that work there are very knowledgeable in wine. Especially the younger man. There's been a few time where we chatted about the wines I bought. Where it comes from, about the regions ,mountains,healthy grapes, the owners of the vineyards,taste , aroma ,etc .. history class. Pretty cool! ..then you walk out of there feeling good ,educated n smart about your choice of wines..2 fantastic guys. The prices are very reasonably!

Excellent selection of wines that are hard to find! Oliver is always extremely helpful and has wonderful suggestions. This is our go to place when we running low on South Africa wines!!

The positive: + excellent craft beer selection..mostly from California breweries (I'm from Oregon)....+ very convenient to the Worldmark where I stay+ friendly staff...I didn't ask them about beer selection so my only interaction was during checkout...but felt welcomed.The negative: - very few bottles have a price tag on them...I don't like picking out a bottle, going up to the counter only to discover that the bottle is more than I wish to pay....that is the only thing preventing a 5-star rating- if you're coming from the south up Anaheim be ready to turn in the parking lot quickly because the trees block the sign

really this place has a great selection of wine. I hate going to bev mo looking for a nice selective wine...and when all the staff there says everything they have is so good when they just say that to make you happy. At southern H wine center all the staff here knows alot about wine and is very friendly and helpful. I am going to continue to send family and friends here for such great help and great selection. =)

My husband & I love this place! I was referred here by several managers at wine bars when I inquired about South African wines. I've been to South African wine regions several times and love the wine but it can be hard to find here (except the few cheap ones). My husband just immigrated from South Africa so it's nice to stop in and support another South African and be surrounded by bottles of South African wines, many of which are recognizable from trips tasting at their vineyards. Oliver is very knowledgeable and has helped us pick the most fantastic wines. What I also love is that he assists you in finding nice bottles at reasonable amounts. There's no encouraging you to get a similar wine for a little more - it's quite the opposite and I appreciate that so I can buy MORE! If you haven't been here and if you love wine, stop in! Staff are very helpful in assisting you with your selections. Ask for Oliver!

My husband recently found Southern Hemisphere Wine Center when he was looking for a specific wine he had in Argentina. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the excellent wine selection. The team really knows their wine and I can't wait until the wine bar is back up and running!

This out of the way little shop carries a full compliment of wines from the countries of the southern hemisphere. It's not a fancy shop with a foo foo tasting room but just good wines and very reasonable prices.Come and get your malbec!
