Shin Sushi

4.5 stars.A bit pricy and the hours are a bit odd but have always left full and happy. The hospitality is amazing and each roll or dish is hand prepared with care. Restaurant is small, ambiance is on the darker side, windows are tinted so it's hard to see if anyone is inside until you open the door. The hand rolls are huge - beware when ordering as they are quite filling (and delicious!). Cucumber salad is refreshing and the yellowtail and tuna are incredibly fresh and light.Daily specials are "special dishes" not necessarily specials of the day (price wise).Hannah our server was wonderful. I look forward to dining here again soon. Huge lot shared with other retailers but this location is off to itself with ample parking.

Dining at Shin Sushi prompted a flashback for me of an experience many, many years ago while working in a restaurant kitchen when my manager let me know that she preferred that I prepared her meals because I made the food taste good. I mention this because, of my experience dining at Shin Sushi, Sushi Chef Shin really makes the sushi taste very good.I had the occasion to try a new Sushi spot outside of my normal circle and landed at Shin. It is not located in a spot that one would easily find as it is a bit off the beaten path. But, it had a very solid following and the recommendation from fellow Yelpers was all that I needed.My visit was shortly after 5:00, but while I was the first to arrive at the restaurant, there were reservation signs visible at most every table . . . a very good sign, no pun intended. I was seated at the Sushi Bar and was greeted by my server and the Sushi Chef (Shin himself) and was provided a refreshment of my choice. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating which most find in Japanese restaurants. For this evening, I ordered a variety of Sushi to get a good sense of their preparation and fish quality. Folks, they hit the mark in all categories: taste; quality; portions and presentation. I ordered: Japanese Halibut, Scallops, Japanese Mackrell, Bluefin, and Seared Salmon with Ponzu. (Don't judge, it was way more than I normally order, but took one for the team). Every serving was prepared with tlc, with nice accents for added flavor and presentation. Moreover, the fish was fresh and served in very abundant portions. There was nothing sliced too thin. Everything was very good.Shin Sushi has amassed a very fine reputation for locals and non-locals (me) to earn it a very high rating. You should note that if Sushi is not your thing, you will have to find another Japanese restaurant as they only serve Sushi. But, if you have an appetite for Sushi and willing to take a jaunt to this area, do not overlook Shin Sushi. It is a great value for quality Sushi that is prepared by the master himself, Shin, and someone who appears to take pride in his craft and have his customers return time and time again. I'll be back for sure! See you there!

Once again Shin has some of the freshest fish in southern Orange County. Delicious all around. The service is amazing as well. 10/10 sushi experience

Stopped in Shin sushi last Saturday late had a miso soup, California roll and crunchy shrimp roll excellent portion size and taste staff really nice and restaurant very clean. I recommend this restaurant.

First time here...and not coming back. Worse service I've had in a restaurant. Made me and my son wait while people that came after us get serve first. I can't believe this place has so many stars. Service is very important! Food is secondary.

Always an amazing meal and experience at Shin's.Feels like a second home! If you are ever in South Orange County stop at Shin's and you will never regret it. He is wonderful and a Rockstar!!!!

Excellent sushi/sashimi. You pay a little more but it's worth it! We have been to Shin Sushi several times and plan to go again.
