Shaka Braai

My husband arranged for a pig roast for my birthday celebration. It was amazing! Best birthday party ever. Mark was so professional, organized and on-time. The food was amazing especially the pig skin right off the spit. Mark even accommodated 4 vegetarians who attended. He did an amazing job. I would highly recommend Mark and Shaka Braai!

We have them cater for our event last February 08, which is around 100 pax. Everyone loves the food and Mark the owner is such an amazing person. He is professional, on time and amazing to work with. Definitely booking him again in our next event.

Mark and Olivia went above and beyond today at our family event. We ordered the whole roast pig, and they arrived early, roasted the pig in our backyard, and stayed to clean up. It was absolutely delicious and so fun for our family to watch the process of the roasting. They so patiently helped everyone pose with the pig for pictures, and were absolutely professional, positive, and delivered a great product. Oh, and they bring all their own supplies! My cousin was so impressed that she booked them for a Christmas lamb roast! Thank you guys so much!

Amazing food from Shaka! We had catering for my son's 1st birthday this past weekend and everyone is still talking about how good and delicious the food was. Mark was very professional and answered all my emails and questions in a timely matter. From booking to cooking onsite, Mark made sure I was 100% happy with his service and made sure all my guest left full and happy. Totally would book again!

Mark is an amazing culinary leader. Everyone enjoyed the food and kept on going for more. Every touchpoint with Mark was seamless. He is so professional, friendly and will go that extra mile for your guest. We are still drooling over the amazing Pig Roast. Succulent and authentic South African BBQ style. He is the real deal.

Growing up I never appreciated the difference between traditional jerky and authentic biltong but now as an adult I can truly taste and certainly enjoy the experience of biltong. Having tasted quite a few varieties, I can tell you that Shaka Braai is without question the highest quality and best tasting biltong I've ever tried.

Mark and his wife Olivia catered for 70 people for a pre wedding welcome dinner and it was delicious. Served on time, left their work area spotless and were a pleasure to work with. Boerewors was delicious as was the peri peri chicken, Mac and cheese, salads and felafel! Mark was always responsive to my many questions which helped me plan the evening. What an amazing evening we had on Saturday, and largely thanks to Mark and his team! We were celebrating our son-in-law's 40th birthday and asked Mark to do a lamb on the spit for us, with accompanying potatoes, salad and pita bread. Our American friends were blown away by the lamb, and of course our South African friends thought this was the best thing ever! The lamb was tender and juicy and we were thrilled.Even better than that was the fact that Mark was on top of everything from the first phonecall. If I sent him a text to ask anything, he replied immediately. He was super reliable and a pleasure to deal with.Thank you Mark for your great service - you will be seeing us again! Sarah

I'm so glad I found Shaka's. I needed some snacks for a last-minute poker game with friends and thought some biltong and droewors would be perfect. I contacted Shaka for their opening time on a Sunday and left a message to call me back. Within 15 minutes, Mark (owner) called me back to tell me the store was closed on Sundays, but if I wanted to meet him, he would supply me with what I needed.I bought 0.5lb of Biltong (African jerky) and 0.5lb of Droewors (African dried sausage).Well, I couldn't help myself on the drive back home and had to try the droewors. Let me tell you, that first bite gave me an instant flashback to my childhood, visiting my father in South Africa when he worked there.Floods of memories of sundowners at the Kruger park stays out a friend beach house in Ramsgate. Instant nostalgia.I can't wait to crack open the biltong later... If I can refrain from opening the pack before this evening.My only regret is not buying more.Thank you, Mark, for making my day.I highly recommend Shaka's to those in the know of biltong and those who don't.Oh, and Shaka does catering also.
